  • Ken Giles RP | ATL

Astros' Ken Giles: Hits 30 saves

Giles pitched a scoreless ninth against the Angels on Tuesday, working around a single to preserve a 1-0 win and notch his 30th save.

After blowing his first try at save No. 30 last week, Giles got a few days off and came back sharp despite failing to register a strikeout. He's rewarded his fantasy owners with a steady campaign, earning his draft price with strong ratios and that rock-solid save total, and there's no reason to expect anything different over the remainder of September.

  • Alex Colome RP | CHW

Rays' Alex Colome: Racks up 44th save Tuesday

Colome pitched a perfect ninth inning Tuesday to record his 44th save of the season in a 2-1 win over the Yankees.

The right-hander extended his major-league lead in saves while lowering his ERA back down to 2.97. The Rays are trying to stay relevant in the wild-card chase, sitting four games back of the Twins but with four other teams between them and the final spot in the playoffs, so there's no reason to think Colome's workload will shrink down the stretch.

  • Sean Manaea SP | NYM

Athletics' Sean Manaea: Crushed by BoSox on Tuesday

Manaea (10-10) surrendered seven runs on 11 hits over 3.2 innings Tuesday while striking out four to take the loss in an 11-1 rout by the Red Sox.

After delivering quality starts in three of his last four outings, Manaea was dreadful in this one, allowing hits in every inning he pitched, including a triple and homer to Mookie Betts. The lefty will take a 4.65 ERA into his next start Sunday on the road against the Phillies, assuming he hasn't been shut down by then.

  • Tim Mayza RP | PHI

Blue Jays' Tim Mayza: Notches first big-league win Tuesday

Mayza (1-0) struck out the only batter he faced Tuesday against the Orioles to pick up his first career win.

Toronto scored two runs against closer Zach Britton en route to a walkoff win in the ninth inning Tuesday. Mayza has turned in unimpressive results (8.74 ERA) through 12 games this season, but the 25-year-old reliever will continue to serve as a left-handed specialist moving forward.

  • Royals' Scott Alexander: Works around trouble for fourth save

Alexander worked around a pair of hits with a strikeout in an inning of work to record his fourth save of the season Tuesday against the White Sox.

Alexander allowed the first two men to reach in this one, putting the tying run at third with nobody out. He bounced back to strike out Yoan Moncada before getting a double-play ball from Matt Davidson to end the game. Alexander is now the owner of a shiny 2.00 ERA and appears to be the preferred option for saves at the moment.

  • Dylan Covey RP | ATL

White Sox's Dylan Covey: Allows four runs, takes loss versus Royals

Covey (0-5) allowed four runs on two hits and four walks across 5.2 innings while earning the loss Tuesday against the Royals. He recorded one strikeout.

Covey struggled mightily in the first inning, loading the bases before allowing a one-out grand slam to Brandon Moss. He bounced back nicely thereafter and only allowed two more baserunners, but enough damage was done to sink him to a loss. Covey had come out of the bullpen in his previous six appearances, and while his line Tuesday was nothing special, his persistence and the injury to Carlos Rodon (shoulder) should keep him in the rotation for Sunday's start against the Tigers.

  • Collin McHugh RP | ATL

Astros' Collin McHugh: Plays catch Tuesday

McHugh (fingernail) was able to play catch Tuesday, Jake Kaplan of the Houston Chronicle reports.

McHugh reported that everything went well in his throwing session, which marked his first time playing catch since leaving Friday's game with a detached fingernail. The plan remains for the 30-year-old to rejoin the rotation next week against the White Sox.

  • Michael Fulmer RP | NYY

Tigers' Michael Fulmer: Surgery deemed successful

Fulmer underwent successful ulnar transposition surgery Tuesday, Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Fulmer will now begin a recovery process that is supposed to take between three and four months as he works to get back to full health for next season. Barring any setbacks, he's expected to be ready to go for spring training. The 24-year-old ended his sophomore season with a 10-12 record to go along with a 3.83 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 114:40 K:BB over 164.2 innings (25 starts).

  • Reynaldo Lopez RP | ATL

White Sox's Reynaldo Lopez: Wins first game with new club

Lopez (1-3) allowed three runs on eight hits and struck out a batter over six innings to earn the win Monday against the Royals.

That marks Lopez's first victory in five starts as a member of the White Sox, but he's put together three straight quality starts. Lopez thrived on weak contact Monday night, as he recorded 13 flyball outs and was the victim of just two extra-base hits. The impressive 23-year-old is pitching well enough to put himself in the conversation to break camp as part of the major-league rotation next season.

  • Dominic Leone RP | CHW

Blue Jays' Dominic Leone: Earns first career save Monday

Leone worked around a hit with two strikeouts in an inning of work to earn his first career save Monday against the Oiroles.

With a one-run lead, Leone was called upon to close out a game for the first time since joining the club. Although he allowed a leadoff single, he got the next three men he faced, including strikeouts of Chris Davis and Mark Trumbo to end the game. Leone appears to be firmly in the mix for saves while Roberto Osuna (personal) is away from the team for the birth of his child.
