  • Rays' Andrew Kittredge: Heads back to Durham

Kittredge was sent down to Triple-A Durham prior to Friday's game against the Yankees, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Kittredge has bounced between Durham and Tampa Bay a few times over the past couple weeks, making four appearances with the Rays since July 18. The right-hander took the loss during Thursday's extra-inning affair with New York, posting a solid 10th inning but giving up a walk-off home run to Brett Gardner on the second pitch in the 11th. Kittredge has pitched tremendously well at the Triple-A level this season, with a 1.72 ERA and 1.13 WHIP, and could make a return to the big-league club in the near future. In a corresponding move, the Rays recalled Austin Pruitt on Friday for his second big-league start of the season.

  • Robby Scott RP | BOS

Red Sox's Robby Scott: Recalled from Triple-A

Scott was recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket on Friday, Evan Drellich of CSN New England reports.

Scott takes the roster spot of David Price, who hit the disabled list with elbow inflammation early Friday. Scott pitched well out of Boston's bullpen through the first two months of the season, but struggled with a 6.00 ERA and 1.50 WHIP over 12 innings for June and July. It may be short lived stint in the majors, with the Red Sox still needing to address Price's rotation spot after the weekend.

  • Brian Johnson RP | BOS

Red Sox's Brian Johnson: Scratched from scheduled Triple-A start

Johnson has been scratched from his scheduled start for Triple-A Pawtucket on Friday, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.

With David Price headed to the disabled list with elbow soreness, Johnson will presumably be Price's replacement for the Red Sox on Friday, although that hasn't been officially confirmed. The 26-year-old has a 4.33 ERA and 1.48 WHIP over 27 innings during four stints with Boston this season.

  • Brian Johnson RP | BOS

Red Sox's Brian Johnson: Likely to start for big club Friday

Johnson is expected to start in place of David Price (forearm/elbow) on Friday, Rob Bradford of WEEI.com reports.

Johnson is at Triple-A Pawtucket but could soon be on his way to toe the rubber against the Royals with Price's future availability suddenly uncertain. If Price needs an extended absence, Johnson would be a candidate to fill the void, but don't immediately assume he'd handle the task by himself.

  • Yankees' Aroldis Chapman: Pitches two scoreless for third win

Chapman (3-1) struck out four batters over two scoreless innings to record his third win of the season during Thursday's win over the Rays.

It wasn't a seamless return to the closer role after missing time with a shoulder injury, but Chapman has now allowed just four hits and a single run over eight innings through his past seven appearances. He remains an elite relief option in all fantasy settings, and his current form is encouraging.

  • Alex Colome RP | CHW

Rays' Alex Colome: Blows save Thursday

Colome blew his fifth save of the season during Thursday's loss to the Yankees.

The Tampa closer entered with a 7.43 ERA through 13.1 innings over his past 13 appearances, so while he's collected 10 saves during that span, things haven't been going smoothly. Colome's leash is probably long enough that his job isn't in any imminent danger, but there are certainly concerns. It's worth noting that he's shown some resilience and bounced back after rough patches already this season.

  • Zack Burdi RP | LAD

White Sox's Zack Burdi: Tommy John surgery performed Thursday

Burdi (elbow) successfully underwent Tommy John surgery Thursday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

It seems like everything about the operation went off without a hitch. Burdi will now move into the rehab phase as he eyes getting ready for the start of the 2019 season.

  • Blake Treinen RP | LAD

Athletics' Blake Treinen: Blows fourth save of season

Treinen allowed a solo home run to Kendrys Morales in the bottom of the ninth to tie Thursday's game, blowing his fourth save of the 2017 campaign.

Treinen had been doing well recently, earning three straight holds over his last three appearances this past week. During that span, he allowed just one baserunner in 3.1 innings, while striking out four. In Thursday's affair, Treinen was called upon with two outs in the bottom of the ninth, getting Justin Smoak to pop out with one runner on. But he was unable to navigate the A's out of Toronto, blowing his second save in six appearances after coming to Oakland in a trade on July 16.

  • Sean Manaea SP | NYM

Athletics' Sean Manaea: Provides strong outing Thursday

Manaea (8-5) allowed three earned runs off seven hits while striking out seven over seven innings during Thursday's no-decision against Toronto.

Besides a couple home runs to Josh Donaldson and Kendrys Morales, Manaea was able to command the strike zone yet again, marking a fourth quality start in his past five outings. This was the first time since May 20 that Manaea didn't record a single base on balls, as the left-hander was able to throw strikes on 68 of his 99 pitches. On the year, the former Indiana State Sycamore has posted an ERA of 3.82 and 1.23 WHIP with an 8.7 K/9 for the A's. He projects to face the Giants in San Francisco for his next start.

  • Ariel Jurado RP | TEX

Rangers' Ariel Jurado: Continues poor stretch at Double-A

    Jurado, 21, has a 4.84 ERA and 71:27 K:BB in 115.1 innings at Double-A Frisco.

Jurado has been even worse over his last 10 outings, compiling a bloated 5.84 ERA. His strikeout numbers have also taken a huge nosedive this season. All in all, Jurado has lost a bit of his prospect luster in 2017, though at just 21 years of age he still has plenty of time to right the ship.
