  • Yankees' Dellin Betances: Implodes in save opportunity

Betances (3-2) allowed two earned runs on a hit, two walks and a hit batsman en route to his second blown save of the season during Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the White Sox.

With Aroldis Chapman unavailable after appearing in the team's previous two games, Betances was called upon to record the final three outs against White Sox on Tuesday. The hard-throwing righty retired the first batter before allowing the next three to reach base on two walks and a hit-by-pitch. Jose Abreu then ended things with a walk-off two-run base hit to saddle Betances with his second blown save of the season. His ERA ballooned from 1.09 to 1.78 following this poor outing.

  • Athletics' Kendall Graveman: Throws from flat ground Tuesday

Graveman (shoulder) threw a flat-ground session Tuesday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

It marks Graveman's third long-toss session since last Friday, so he appears to be getting very close to throwing off a mound. The 26-year-old right-hander has been on the disabled list since May 29 after having made eight starts.

  • Alex Colome RP | CHW

Rays' Alex Colome: Blows save, picks up win versus Pirates

Colome allowed two runs on two hits and two walks in an inning of work while blowing a save Tuesday against the Pirates. He struck out two and was ultimately credited with the win.

Entering with a two-run lead, Colome proceeded to hit John Jaso before allowing back-to-back doubles to Josh Harrison and Andrew McCutchen to tie the score. He closed out the inning and was handed his second win of the season when the Rays pulled it out in the bottom of the 10th. Colome has struggled of late, allowing seven earned runs over his last three innings of work to raise his ERA to 3.57. Surely the 2016 All-Star is capable of turning things around -- he should be given the opportunity to work out of his current funk.

  • Sean Manaea SP | NYM

Athletics' Sean Manaea: Picks up win in shaky outing

Manaea (7-4) allowed one run on nine hits and three walks over 5.2 innings during Tuesday's 6-4 win over the Astros. He struck out three and was credited with the win.

Manaea didn't have his best stuff going for him Tuesday, but was able to limit the hard-hitting Astros to just one run en route to his seventh win of the season. After facing the Yankees on June 16 and the Astros over his last two starts, Manaea will have the opportunity to face a more manageable opponent as he currently projects to square off against the Braves on Sunday.

  • Brad Boxberger RP | CHC

Rays' Brad Boxberger: Fires 20 pitches in rehab outing

Boxberger (back) gave up an earned run on a hit and a walk over an inning in High-A Charlotte's 8-4 loss to Tampa on Tuesday. He also recorded two strikeouts.

Boxberger fired 20 pitches overall, 13 of which he threw for strikes, in what is supposed to be his final rehab outing before being activated by the Rays. The former closer had been sent back down to the Stone Crabs for Tuesday's appearance in order to get him one final tune-up, following an appearance for Triple-A Durham last Wednesday that led to some residual soreness.

  • Austin Pruitt RP | TEX

Rays' Austin Pruitt: Optioned to minors Tuesday

Pruitt was optioned to Triple-A Durham on Tuesday.

Pruitt has struggled mightily over his 31.2 innings with the Rays this season, as he currently holds a 6.25 ERA. He'll be sent to Triple-A Durham where he'll face lighter competition with the hopes of getting his groove back on the mound.

  • Jose Alvarado RP | PHI

Rays' Jose Alvarado: Sent to Triple-A

Alvarado was optioned to Triple-A Durham on Tuesday.

Alvarado has made 21 appearances out of the Rays' bullpen this season but is currently sitting on an unsightly 5.89 ERA. He'll be sent to Triple-A Durham to work on his form with the hopes of rejoining the major-league club at a later date. As per Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times, Alvarado has been asked to specifically work on throwing his curveball for strikes more often, as well as to experiment with a cutter/slider in order keep hitters honest with respect to his fastball.

  • Collin McHugh RP | ATL

Astros' Collin McHugh: Will begin rehab assignment Friday

McHugh (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Corpus Christi on Friday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

McHugh will get his first taste of live action since the end of the 2016 season, as he's been sidelined for the entirety of the 2017 campaign with a posterior impingement in his right elbow. The righty will need three-to-four rehab outings before rejoining the Astros' rotation, which puts him on track to be activated from the DL in mid-July following the All-Star break.

  • Tyler Webb RP | MIN

Yankees' Tyler Webb: Recalled by Yankees

Webb was recalled by the Yankees on Tuesday.

In a quick turn of events, Webb will head back to the big leagues after being sent down to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Sunday. The 26-year-old threw 2.1 scoreless innings of relief for the Yankees this past week and has shown his prospects as a specialty pitcher for left-handed hitters, so he'll get another shot in the team's bullpen.

  • Indians' Shawn Armstrong: Rejoins major-league club

Armstrong was recalled from Triple-A Columbus on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old returns one day after being optioned to Triple-A with outfielder Austin Jackson (quad) heading to the DL. Armstrong has a 5.02 ERA and 1.26 WHIP with 14 strikeouts over 14.1 innings during his four stints with the Indians this season, and will likely be limited to low-leverage situations.
