  • Michael Fulmer RP | NYY

Tigers' Michael Fulmer: Tabbed for Friday start

Fulmer will start Friday against the Indians, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Fulmer will get a full week off in between starts -- with his last start coming last Friday against the Orioles -- as the rookie has already thrown 143.2 innings. It's unclear if the team has a hard innings cap in mind, but they will likely try to continue spacing out his starts as much as possible to maximize his rest. Justin Verlander and Daniel Norris will follow him and start the final two games of the weekend series.

  • Tigers' Warwick Saupold: Gets probation for assault charges laid last month

Saupold (suspension) pleaded no-contest to simple assault charges Tuesday and his case was referred to the probation department, MLive.com reports.

Saupold's record will be wiped clean if he completes the requirements of probation before his next scheduled court appearance which is slated for Sept. 27. Saupold was arrested last month after a disagreement escalated into a brawl outside a Toledo bar. An officer witnessed Saupold strike a man on the face using a closed fist. The Tigers suspended him for five games and he was not called up to the parent club for the stretch run.

  • Rays' Danny Farquhar: Credited with third hold of season Tuesday

Farquhar was credited with his third hold of the season in Tuesday's victory over the Blue Jays, giving up a hit and a walk over two-thirds of an inning. He also recorded a strikeout.

Farquhar came in to relieve Dana Eveland in the seventh with Kevin Pillar on first and was able to wiggle out of the inning after making matters interesting. He got things started off right by getting the pinch-hitting Dioner Navarro to fly out, but then gave up a single to Devon Travis and issued a free pass to Jose Bautista, loading the bases. However, the 29-year-old bore down to whiff the dangerous Edwin Encarnacion to end the inning, notching his ninth straight scoreless appearance in the process. After his ERA reached an unsightly 6.94 on Aug. 7, Farquhar has now lowered that figure by over three full runs over his subsequent 15 trips to the mound, giving up only two earned runs over the 17.1 innings during that span.

  • Ryan Garton RP | SEA

Rays' Ryan Garton: Credited with first hold of season Tuesday

Garton was credited with his first hold of the season in Tuesday's victory over the Blue Jays, giving up two hits in a third of an inning.

The 26-year-old got his latest Rays stint off to a strong start with three consecutive one-inning scoreless appearances, but has now given up two earned runs on five hits over the 2.2 innings covering his three most recent trips to the mound. However, Garton was able to escape unscathed Tuesday after giving up singles to Troy Tulowitzki and Kevin Pillar in the tail end of the sixth and leading off the seventh, respectively. He now has a 3.18 ERA in the 5.2 innings that make up his current tenure with the big league club.

  • Ken Giles RP | ATL

Astros' Ken Giles: Blows save, takes loss against Rangers

Giles (2-4) allowed two runs on two hits in a blown save and took the loss Tuesday against the Rangers.

This marks Giles's first blown save in 10 opportunities since he took over the closer's role August 9 against the Twins. He was largely undone by an RBI triple from Elvis Andrus, who would eventually come around and score the winning run. Combined with the two home runs Giles has allowed since taking over the ninth inning, he is showing a concerning susceptibility to power hitting. His ERA sits at 3.64 despite a ridiculous 90 strikeouts in 59.1 innings.

  • Yankees' Dellin Betances: Enters in eighth to earn 11th save

Betances came on with two outs in the eighth to retire the final four batters for his 11th save against the Dodgers on Tuesday. He allowed a hit while striking out two.

Betances relieved Tyler Clippard with two outs in the eighth and the tying runner on base, and shut down the Dodgers for his 11th save in 15 tries. Betances has overpowered hitters this season, striking out an incredible 119 batters in 68.2 innings, easily the most strikeouts among relievers. His ERA sits at 2.36, and he sports a 1.03 WHIP.

  • Drew Pomeranz RP | CHC

Red Sox's Drew Pomeranz: Lasts just two innings Tuesday against O's

Pomeranz (11-11) was rocked for five runs on five hits, including two homers, and two walks in just two innings Tuesday against the Orioles. He struck out three in the loss.

Tuesday marked Pomeranz's shortest start of the season, and his third straight loss. Before being traded from San Diego in mid-July, the southpaw was in the NL's top three with a 2.47 ERA. As a member of the Red Sox, Pomeranz is 2-5 with a 4.60 ERA in 11 starts. The 27-year-old's only saving grace during that time is the 62 strikeouts he's logged over 58.2 innings. Pomeranz will look to rebound when he takes the hill Sunday against the surging Yankees.

  • Trevor May RP | ATH

Twins' Trevor May: Setback to back injury ends season

May was placed on the 15-day DL with a setback to his back injury and will miss the rest of the season, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

May gave up two runs while retiring one batter Sunday in his return from the DL. May's back troubles contributed to a lost season as he finishes with a 5.27 ERA and 1.5 HR/9. May was a candidate to take over the closer role, but it's possible he could be moved back to the rotation in 2017. However, he'll have to show he's healthy before he wins any role.

  • Brad Boxberger RP | CHC

Rays' Brad Boxberger: Gives up game-winning homer Monday in Toronto

Boxberger, who entered in the eighth inning with the scored tied, took the loss Monday in Toronto after allowing two hits, including a solo homer.

Boxberger, who has spent most of the season on the DL, suffered his first loss of the campaign with Monday's slip-up. Through 19 games this year, the right-hander owns a 3.00 ERA -- the second-worst mark of his career -- and a career-worst 1.61 WHIP over 18 innings. After notching 41 saves a year ago, Boxberger's injury-plagued 2016 has kept him from finding a groove, limiting his fantasy value in most formats.

  • Jake Diekman RP | ATL

Rangers' Jake Diekman: Picks up fourth save in extras

Diekman picked up his fourth save with a scoreless 12th inning Monday against the Astros.

Diekman was forced into action thanks to extra innings and managed to rebound well from his previous three outings, in which he had mustered just three outs and allowed three walks, four hits and five runs. Still, he remains squarely behind Sam Dyson for the closer's spot in Texas.
