Daniel Mengden RP | KC
Athletics' Daniel Mengden: Recalled, starting Saturday
Mengden was officially recalled from Triple-A Nashville ahead of Saturday's start against the Red Sox.
The 23-year-old returns, as expected, to take on Rick Porcello and the Red Sox in his first major league start since July 25. Mengden failed to go more than five innings in any of his final four starts prior to his demotion, allowing a total of 19 earned runs over 17.2 innings during that span. Most in mixed leagues will want to take a wait-and-see approach.

Ashur Tolliver RP | SEA
Angels' Ashur Tolliver: Claimed by Angels
Tolliver was claimed off waivers by the Angels on Saturday, MASN's Roch Kubatko reports.
The O's ruled Tolliver out for a September promotion and subsequently designated him for assignment, but the Angels have deemed him worthy of a spot on their 40-man roster. While Triple-A Salt Lake's season is still going on, Tolliver figures to join the Angels' expanded major league roster right away to bolster their bullpen depth.

Danny Farquhar RP | TB
Rays' Danny Farquhar: Gets one-inning win Friday
Farquhar (1-0) notched his first victory of the season on Friday versus the Blue Jays, allowing a hit and a walk over a scoreless inning. He also recorded a strikeout.
That's four straight scoreless outings for the 29-year-old, his longest such stretch this season. Farquhar's ERA is now down to a season-low 4.07 and he's given up just one homer over his last 13.2 innings while impressively tallying 20 whiffs over that span.

Edwin Diaz RP | LAD
Mariners' Edwin Diaz: One-out save Friday versus Angels
Diaz retired the only batter he faced to earn his 12th save of the season Friday versus the Angels.
The Angels made a late push, as they narrowed Seattle's lead to three runs and brought Mike Trout to the plate as the tying run, but Diaz induced a harmless flyball to center after a seven-pitch at-bat. This was a positive sign, as Dias blew his first save of the season his last time out and had allowed five runs in his previous 5.2 innings.

Michael Tonkin RP | MIN
Twins' Michael Tonkin: Dealing with sore shoulder
Tonkin is dealing with shoulder fatigue and will be unavailable "at least" through the weekend, according to manager Paul Molitor, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
It's not clear when Tonkin first started feeling a "dead arm," but he was rocked for nine earned runs over three outings between Aug. 23-26 and has not pitched since. The Twins are hoping a couple more days off will get him healthy again, but he could be sidelined further.

Chad Green RP | TOR
Yankees' Chad Green: Removed with elbow injury
Green was taken out of Friday's start in the second inning due to right elbow pain, Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News reports.
The extent of Green's setback will not be determined until he is further examined by the Yankees' medical staff, but the early diagnosis is hardly promising, given that elbow pain is typically the first sign of an injury that could require Tommy John surgery. The Yankees figure to release more details on Green's status after more tests are done.

Chad Green RP | TOR
Yankees' Chad Green: Removed early Friday
Green was removed from Friday's game with an undisclosed injury, Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News reports.
It's not yet clear what type of setback Green is dealing with, but he was forced from his start Friday in the second inning, and was replaced by Nick Goody. Expect Green's status to be updated when more details are released.

Daniel Mengden RP | KC
Athletics' Daniel Mengden: Will start Saturday against Red Sox
Mengden will be recalled to start Saturday against the Red Sox, John Hickey of the Bay Area News Group reports.
Although Mengden was not added to the A's expanded September roster right away Friday, he will come up to start Saturday opposite Rick Porcello, presumably pushing Zach Neal to the bullpen. The 23-year-old Mengden enjoyed some initial success upon arrival to the big leagues in June but he quickly unraveled, and the blowup potential against Boston will understandably scare off many prospective owners.

Buddy Boshers RP | HOU
Twins' Buddy Boshers: Activated from disabled list
The Twins activated Boshers (elbow) from the disabled list Friday, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Boshers was not particularly sharp during his final rehab appearance Thursday, but with roster spots to spare, the Twins decided to activate him Friday. Boshers figures to work situationally and in middle relief the rest of the way.

Danny Barnes RP | TOR
Blue Jays' Danny Barnes: Promoted from Triple-A Buffalo
Barnes was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo on Friday, Shi Davidi of SportsNet reports.
Barnes was untouchable with Triple-A Buffalo this season, posting a 0.35 ERA, 0.31 WHIP, and 42 percent K-rate in 17 games. However, he didn't find his groove during a brief stint with Toronto earlier, as he allowed two runs over four innings.
