Chad Green RP | TOR
Yankees' Chad Green: Fails to record win after brief start
Green (2-3) yielded four runs on seven hits, walked four, and struck out four over 4.2 innings in Saturday's win over the Orioles, but did not factor in the decision.
Giving up the long ball hurt Green the most in this game, as he allowed three homers (two to Chris Davis, one to Mark Trumbo). Although the Yankees scored 9 runs in the first five innings (compared to Baltimore's four), Green didn't receive the win. The 25-year-old has pitched particularly well through four starts in August (2.30 ERA), and has an exceptional strikeout rate (10.30 K/9) and solid 1.22 WHIP overall this year. Hopefully the young righty learned from this outing, since he faces the Orioles again in his next scheduled start Friday, this time in Baltimore.

Dylan Floro RP | ARI
Rays' Dylan Floro: Heads to DL at Triple-A Durham
Floro (arm soreness) was placed on the DL at Triple-A Durham, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
The 25-year-old southpaw had most recently pitched with the big league club on Aug. 14 against the Yankees, and generated a 4.20 ERA over 15 innings with the Rays in a month-plus stint with the Rays earlier this summer. Floro's deactivation reportedly comes as the result of a sore arm, making it unlikely he returns before the conclusion of the Bulls' season on Sept. 5.

Alex Colome RP | CHW
Rays' Alex Colome: Implodes in ninth Friday
Colome (1-4) blew only his second save of the season in Friday's 5-4 loss to the Astros, giving up back-to-back homers to Carlos Correa and Evan Gattis in the ninth inning.
The normally reliable closer imploded after Mikie Mahtook had given the Rays a 4-3 lead in the top half of the frame with his first homer of the season. Colome has now blown two saves since July 23 after successfully converting his first 21 chances on the season. The hiccup Friday broke a streak of 11 consecutive scoreless appearances for the 27-year-old, who still sports a stellar 2.15 ERA and 58:14 K:BB on the season over 46 innings.

Pat Venditte RP | LAD
Mariners' Pat Venditte: Recalled by Mariners
Venditte was recalled by the Mariners on Saturday, Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times reports.
With Tom Wilhelmsen landing on the DL with a back injury Saturday, the Mariners were in dire need of bullpen depth. Venditte, the switch pitcher, and Dan Altavilla will join the Mariners' bullpen to provide some fresh arms. In five appearances at Triple-A Tacoma, Venditte fired 8.1 innings of one-run ball while fanning eleven batters.

Bo Schultz RP | PIT
Blue Jays' Bo Schultz: Recalled from Buffalo
Schultz was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo on Saturday, Ben Nicholson-Smith of SportsNet reports.
The Blue Jays DFA'd Aaron Loup on Saturday morning, freeing up a spot on the 25-man roster to add Schultz, who will return for the first time in nearly a month. Schultz has pitched in 10 games for Toronto on the season, amassing a 3.00 ERA across 12.0 cumulative innings.

Aaron Loup RP | LAA
Blue Jays' Aaron Loup: DFA'd by Blue Jays
Loup was DFA'd by the Blue Jays on Saturday, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet reports.
Loup spent less than a week with the Blue Jays during this latest stint with the big league club. Across two appearances (3.2 innings), Loup allowed seven hits and four earned runs, while striking out three and walking two. In a corresponding move, the Blue Jays recalled Bo Schultz from Triple-A Buffalo.

Hector Santiago RP | SEA
Twins' Hector Santiago: Set to start Monday
Santiago (thumb) will return to the rotation Monday against Cleveland, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Santiago missed a start due to a bruised thumb. Minnesota's plans for the rotation in Cleveland remain in flux so it's possible he could be moved back a day if he's still sore Sunday. Santiago has struggled since he was traded to Minnesota with 23 runs allowed in four starts.

Pat Venditte RP | LAD
Mariners' Pat Venditte: Expected to be called up Saturday
Venditte will be called up Saturday to join the Seattle bullpen, the Seattle Times reports.
The Mariners acquired the ambidextrous switch-pitcher in a trade with the Blue Jays in early August. He's allowed one run, eights and three walks in 8.1 innings at Triple-A Tacoma with 11 strikeouts. He'll add bullpen depth and likely be used mostly against left-handed batters.
-
Edwin Diaz RP | LAD
Mariners' Edwin Diaz: Dominant in five-out save
Diaz recorded a five-out save Friday for his 11th of the season in a 3-1 win at the White Sox.
Diaz showed none of the problems he had in his previous few outings with mechanics and control, needing 17 pitches to close it out. He entered with the bases loaded in the eighth and was out of the jam in four pitches. He then struck out the side in the ninth. It's also encouraging that manager Scott Servais turned to his best reliever in the highest leverage situation even though it wasn't the ninth inning (though part of it was because of a thin and overworked bullpen).

Dario Alvarez RP | SEA
Rangers' Dario Alvarez: Recalled from Triple-A
Alvarez was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock on Friday.
With Jeremy Jeffress being placed on the restricted list, Alvarez will return to the Rangers and provide additional bullpen depth. Alvarez has pitched just 1.2 innings with Texas this season, during which he allowed two runs off five hits. However, his performance with Round Rock has been much better. After six games (eight innings), Alvarez has a 2.25 ERA and 10 strikeouts.
