Orioles' Donnie Hart: Optioned to Double-A

Hart was optioned to Double-A Bowie on Sunday, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.

As the low man in the pecking order of the Orioles' bullpen, Hart was sent out when the team needed to clear a roster spot for Darren O'Day (hamstring), who will return from the DL following a nearly two-month absence. Hart made three scoreless appearances with the Orioles in his first stint in the big leagues, covering 2.2 innings.

  • Joe Kelly RP | LAD

Red Sox's Joe Kelly: Promoted to majors

Kelly was recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket on Sunday, Brian MacPherson of the Providence Journal reports.

All six of Kelly's previous appearances with the Red Sox have come as a starter, but after struggling mightily in that capacity, he'll work as a reliever in this stint with the big club. He seemed to take well to bullpen duties during his time at Pawtucket, allowing no runs over five innings and striking out nine batters while walking only one. The Red Sox will likely ease him into the relief mix in lower-leverage situations initially, but with top bullpen arms Craig Kimbrel (knee) and Koji Uehara (pectoral) on the DL, Kelly's role could quickly grow if he finds early success.

Red Sox's Joe Kelly: Called up to Boston

Kelly was called up from Triple-A Pawtucket on Sunday, according to Brian MacPherson of the Providence Journal.

The speculation about Kelly being called up to Boston started immediately following Saturday night's 11-9 loss to the Twins, a game in which the bullpen coughed up a three-run lead by allowing six runs on eight hits in 1.1 innings. Kelly will be used in a multi-inning role.

Red Sox's Joe Kelly: Will be called up

Kelly will be called up from Triple-A Pawtucket to Boston on Sunday, according to a source, Rob Bradford of WEEI.com reports.

Boston's bullpen, with some assistance from its utility fielders masquerading as outfielders, imploded during an 11-9 loss to the Twins on Saturday. The casualty from that loss was Heath Hembree, who was optioned to Pawtucket immediately following the game, creating a spot on the roster for Kelly, who has not allowed a run while striking out nine in five innings out of the bullpen for the PawSox.

  • Red Sox's Craig Kimbrel: Bullpen scheduled Sunday

Kimbrel (knee) is lined up to throw 20 pitches in the bullpen Sunday, Peter Abraham of the Boston Globe reports.

Kimbrel was seen on the field prior to Saturday's game, practicing his delivery from the mound without a ball and then throwing in the outfield. The Red Sox want him to throw two bullpen sessions, followed by some kind of rehab work, whether it be a simulated game or a stint in the minors, before being activated. In theory, all that could be done this week and Kimbrel could join the team on its 10-game West Coast trip, which begins Thursday against the Angels. "Whether or not Craig travels with us remains to be seen. He would be getting close to a rehab appearance. Whether it's a sim game or not, that's all to be worked out," manager John Farrell said. Whatever transpires in the coming week, it looks like Kimbrel is ahead of the mid-August return date originally laid out for him.

  • Yankees' Aroldis Chapman: Yankees in talks to deal Chapman

The Yankees are close to dealing Chapman, ABC News reports. A questionable report surfaced earlier saying he had been dealt to the Nationals, but that's likely to have been false.

In any event, should Chapman be dealt, Andrew Miller would almost certainly reprise his closer role for the Yankees.

Red Sox's Joe Kelly: Getting called up to Boston?

Kelly may be called up to Boston after the team optioned Heath Hembree to Triple-A Pawtucket following Saturday night's game, Brian MacPherson of the Providence Journal reports.

Manager John Farrell did not make an announcement, but he implied Hembree's demotion opens up a spot for Kelly, who has struck out nine and walked one without being charged with a run in five innings pitched out the bullpen for the PawSox.

  • Athletics' Kendall Graveman: Earns complete game win Saturday night

Graveman allowed three earned runs in a complete game win over the Rays on Saturday night.

It appeared that Graveman would be a hard luck loser, but two A's homers in the bottom of the ninth made him a winner. Graveman has been fantastic in his last four starts, going 4-0 with a 2.35 ERA in that stretch. Graveman does not provide a lot of strikeouts (only a 5.69 K/9 on the season), but he has ben effective with his sinker lately and has allowed more than three earned runs only once in his last nine starts. He is next scheduled to toe the rubber on Friday in Cleveland.

  • Alex Colome RP | CHW

Rays' Alex Colome: Implodes, blows first save against Oakland

Colome allowed three runs on two hits and a walk over 0.2 innings to blow his first save of the season Saturday against Oakland. He struck out one.

Colome fell victim to the long-ball Saturday, as he yielded a two-run blast to Jake Smolinski which tied the game before Ryon Healy launched a solo shot to center to win the game. Colome had yet to blow a save before Saturday, and this was the first time he had been scored upon since returning from a long stint on the disabled list. The All-Star still has a 2.34 ERA and should remain a strong fantasy asset moving forward.

  • Collin McHugh RP | ATL

Astros' Collin McHugh: Fires quality start in Saturday win

McHugh (7-6) allowed two runs on six hits while striking out six over six innings to earn the win Saturday against the Angels.

McHugh was given a six-run lead in the fourth inning before allowing a pair of runs before his departure, and he easily earned his seventh victory of the year. He's now held opponents to no more than two earned runs in six of his last seven starts to lower his ERA to 4.18 on the season. He'll make his next start Friday in Detroit.
