Astros SP Collin McHugh receives no-decision Thursday

While Astros pitcher Collin McHugh gave his team more than seven solid innings of work Thursday, he received a no-decision during the 3-2 win over the Angels.

McHugh surrendered two runs on five hits over 7 1/3 innings. He struck out seven batters and walked one. His biggest mistake was a solo home run given up to Mike Trout in the first inning.

His next expected start is scheduled for Wednesday against the Giants.

  • Angels P Hector Santiago allows one hit during Thursday's start

Angels pitcher Hector Santiago did not allow a run and only gave up one hit during Thursday's 3-2 loss to the Astros.

Santiago was pulled after 6 1/3 innings of work. Santiago's biggest miscues were two balks he surrendered. By balking twice, Santiago became the fourth pitcher since 1914 to pitch at least five innings and have more balks (2) than hits allowed (1), according to the Orange County Register.

Santiago struck out five batters and walked four during Thursday's start. He was able to lower his ERA to 2.57, but he received a no-decision for his effort. Santiago has now allowed one earned run or less in four of his six starts this season.

He struck out two and walked five. This was the fifth consecutive start in which the left-hander did not go at least six innings.

"Instead of just going after guys and throwing strikes, I pretty much beat myself out there," Pomeranz said, per MLB.com. "You give up three hits and six runs, that should never happen."

Through six starts, Pomeranz owns a 5.12 ERA with 27 strikeouts. He is scheduled to toe the rubber next on Tuesday against the Red Sox.

However, he didn't allow a run in any of those three outings, and even delivered a 1-2-3 inning with three strikeouts in his previous game. Boxberger wasn't as good Wednesday, but he still managed to grab his seventh save. He owns a 1.59 ERA and 17:6 K:BB ratio in 11 1/3 innings.

He was charged with two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out three over 5 2/3 innings of a tough-luck 2-1 defeat.

May has not allowed more than two earned runs over each of his last four starts. He will look to get back in the win column Sunday in Cleveland.
