Trevor May a mess with runners on base
Monumental struggles out of the stretch has prevented Twins rookie starter Trevor May from gaining success in the bigs, the Minneapolis Star Tribune has reported.
May has allowed 41 hits in 29 2/3 innings with 19 walks and 24 strikeouts and owns a terrible 8.38 ERA. Opposing hitters are batting .269 against him with the bases empty, but a ridiculous .479 with runners on base. He has just seven strikeouts in those situations.
An American League scout told the Star Tribune that May's "got the ammo. He needs to locate it. And his fastball is pretty flat." May has struggled to locate his fastball well enough to make his other pitches work.
