Matt Moore suffers first defeat
Starter Matt Moore was bound to struggle at some point this season after beginning the year 8-0 for the Rays. He finally suffered his first loss Tuesday in Detroit.
Moore (8-1) was hit hard and matched a season-high with six walks. He failed to get an out in the third inning and allowed six earned runs on seven hits and six walks over two innings and 86 pitches. He threw 48 for strikes.
Although he did not give up a home run, Moore only struck out one batter. His last outing was cut short after one inning due to a rain out on May 31 at Cleveland. He'd given up just two runs over his previous 14 innings entering Tuesday and will look to bounce right back when he next takes the bump Sunday against Baltimore. -
