  • Nick Robertson RP | HOU

Blue Jays' Nick Robertson: Claimed by Jays

The Blue Jays claimed Robertson off waivers from the Angels on Tuesday and optioned him to Triple-A Buffalo, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.

Robertson was designated for assignment by the Angels on Sunday. The Angels parted with the righty after he allowed 12 earned runs across 13 innings at Triple-A Salt Lake.

  • Luis Garcia RP | NYM

Red Sox's Luis Garcia: Starting rehab assignment

Garcia (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Worcester on Tuesday, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports.

Garcia is three weeks removed from landing on the 15-day injured list with right elbow inflammation, but he's ready for game action after completing a throwing progression. The veteran reliever should rejoin Boston's bullpen in short order if he checks out well following his appearance Tuesday for Worcester. He's been torched for 13 earned runs in 11.1 innings since being acquired by the Red Sox at the trade deadline.

  • Pete Fairbanks RP | MIA

Rays' Pete Fairbanks: Won't return this season

Fairbanks (lat) is progressing in his rehab program but won't have enough time to return from the 15-day injured list before the end of the regular season, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports.

The right-hander landed on the shelf in mid-August due to a lat strain and was able to resume throwing at the end of the month, but he won't have enough time to build up to game readiness before the end of the campaign. Fairbanks will finish the season with 23 saves and a 3.57 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 44:17 K:BB across 45.1 innings. He should be fully healthy in plenty of time for spring training.

  • Steven Cruz RP | KC

Royals' Steven Cruz: Back in big leagues

The Royals recalled Cruz from Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday.

He'll provide the Royals with a healthy reliever after James McArthur (elbow) went down. Cruz has three scoreless appearances during his time in the majors in 2024.

  • Royals' James McArthur: Goes on IL with sprained elbow

The Royals placed McArthur on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with a right elbow sprain.

A sprain indicates that he is dealing with ligament damage, although there's no word yet regarding the possibility of surgery. McArthur won't be eligible to return before the end of the season and also seems unlikely to be back for the postseason even if surgery isn't required. The former closer posted just a 6.87 ERA in the second half.

  • Grant Anderson RP | MIL

Rangers' Grant Anderson: Makes rehab appearance

Anderson (ankle) made a rehab appearance with Triple-A Round Rock on Saturday, tossing a 1-2-3 scoreless inning.

Anderson was placed on the 15-day injured list Sept. 6 with a right ankle contusion but looks to be tracking toward an abbreviated stint on the shelf. The right-hander has typically served as a low-leverage reliever for Texas this season, logging one save and one hold while turning in an 8.10 ERA and 1.61 WHIP across 26.2 innings.

  • Guardians' Andrew Walters: Picks up first win

Walters (1-0) struck out one in a perfect inning to earn the victory in Monday's 4-3 win over the Twins.

Walters has given up just one unearned run and posted a 2:1 K:BB over his first three innings in the majors. The 23-year-old surged through the Guardians' minor-league system after being selected 62nd overall in the 2023 First-Year Player Draft, logging just 50.1 innings in the minors. He's in the majors for bullpen depth currently, though this will also serve as a first audition for him to potentially be a part of Cleveland's relief corps in 2025.

  • Austin Adams RP | BOS

Athletics' Austin Adams: Still awaiting evaluation

Adams, who recently suffered a setback with his forearm injury, is still waiting to be evaluated by team doctors, MLB.com reports.

Adams saw a planned rehab assignment with Triple-A Las Vegas scrapped due to the setback, and he was sent back to Oakland for an evaluation. However, as of Monday, that testing had yet to occur, casting further doubt on the veteran reliever's chances of returning before the end of the regular season.

  • Emmanuel Clase RP | CLE

Guardians' Emmanuel Clase: Nails down 46th save

Clase struck out two in a perfect ninth inning Monday to record his 46th save of the season in a 4-3 win over the Twins.

The right-hander got Carlos Correa and Royce Lewis to chase triple-digit cutters as he converted his 33rd straight save chance, with his last blown save coming May 19. Clase is having a career year, which is saying something given the level of performance he'd already established, The 26-year-old's 46 saves leads the majors, and it comes with a minuscule 0.65 ERA, 0.65 WHIP and 63:8 K:BB through 69.1 innings.

  • Sam Long RP | KC

Royals' Sam Long: Takes second loss

Long (3-2) allowed three runs on three hits and struck out one over two-thirds of an inning to take the loss Monday versus the Tigers.

Long allowed a two-run double to Wenceel Perez in the sixth inning, and John Schreiber allowed an inherited runner to score the decisive run, which stuck Long with the loss. While he's generally been steady this year, Long has faded in September, allowing five runs over seven innings this month. The southpaw is now at a 3.29 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 38:16 K:BB with one save and six holds through 38.1 innings this season.
