Green was unavailable for Wednesday's 6-4 loss to the Yankees due to shoulder soreness, but manager John Schneider hopes the right-hander will be good to go Friday, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

Green's pop-up injury hindered him from entering the game, where the Blue Jays could have used some relief help as they allowed five runs in four innings after starting pitcher Kevin Gausman exited. The veteran reliever could be ready to pitch Friday as Toronto takes on the Padres in San Diego.

The Astros optioned Whitley to Triple-A Sugar Land on Wednesday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Whitley will return to Triple-A just one day after being recalled for his MLB debut. He allowed one hit and one walk but did not surrender a run through two-thirds of an inning against Atlanta on Tuesday. The 26-year-old's departure opens a spot on the active roster that will presumably be given to Justin Verlander (shoulder) when he returns Friday.

Martin (shoulder) tossed a perfect eighth inning en route to earning his third hold of the season in Tuesday's 10-7 loss to the Guardians in 11 innings.

Martin experienced soreness in his non-throwing shoulder last weekend and wasn't available for the Red Sox's series finale against the Angels, but he was back in action Tuesday and didn't seem affected by the injury during his brief time on the mound. The right-hander now sports a 5.14 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 9:1 K:BB across seven innings out of the Boston bullpen this season.

McArthur earned the save in the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the White Sox, allowing one hit while recording a strikeout in a scoreless ninth inning.

After allowing four runs in his first three outings this season, McArthur's rebounded with six consecutive scoreless appearances as he improves to 4-for-5 in save chances with a 3.72 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 12:1 K:BB through his first 9.2 innings this year. While Will Smith could still see the occasional save chance against a string of left-handed batters, the 27-year-old McArthur appears to be the go-to closing option in Kansas City.

Kopech (0-2) blew the save and ultimately took the loss in the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Royals, allowing two runs on two hits while striking out one.

Called upon to protect a one-run lead in the eighth inning, Kopech gave up a one-out single to Bobby Witt before Salvador Perez launched a two-run homer, sticking Kopech with his first blown save and the loss. The right-hander has already earned a pair of multi-inning saves this season, meaning Kopech is 2-for-3 in save chances this year with a 3.48 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 15:6 K:BB through his first 10.1 innings.

The Red Sox recalled Jacques from Triple-A Worcester on Wednesday, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.

Jacques made 23 appearances for the Red Sox last season, collecting a 5.06 ERA and 20:10 K:BB over 26.2 innings. He will provide manager Alex Cora with another left-handed relief option.

The Guardians placed Morgan on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with right shoulder inflammation, Joe Noga of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Morgan presumably was diagnosed with the injury after he struck out two batters over two scoreless frames of relief in Tuesday's 10-7 win over Boston in 11 innings. The Guardians called up Wes Parsons from Triple-A Columbus to replace Morgan on the 26-man active roster and in the bullpen.

Kimbel (3-0) earned the win Wednesday against the Twins after he retired all three batters he faced in the ninth inning. He had one strikeout.

The veteran right-hander entered for the top of the ninth in a 2-2 tie and retired the side in order on 12 pitches, and he picked up the win when Cedric Mullins launched a walk-off homer in the bottom of the frame. Kimbrel allowed a run in his season debut but has since delivered seven straight scoreless appearances, and he has a 0.29 WHIP and 12:0 K:BB with four saves and two wins during that stretch.

The Guardians recalled Parsons from Triple-A Columbus on Wednesday, Joe Noga of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

After serving as the 27th man for the Guardians' doubleheader with the Yankees this past Saturday, Parsons was returned to Columbus a day later. He'll be eligible to rejoin the Guardians ahead of Wednesday's game in Boston because Cleveland placed fellow reliever Eli Morgan (shoulder) on the 15-day injured list in a corresponding move. Parsons has covered at least two innings in all three of his MLB appearances this season between the Blue Jays and Guardians and should serve as a long reliever/mop-up man during his upcoming stint in the Cleveland bullpen.

Jimenez (1-1) was charged with a loss and a blown save against the Cardinals on Tuesday, allowing two earned runs on a hit and two walks over one-third of an inning.

Jimenez was entrusted with preserving a 2-1 lead when he entered in the sixth inning, but he immediately worked himself into trouble by allowing the first three hitters he faced to reach safely via a single and a pair of walks. Jimenez would go on to surrender back-to-back RBI sacrifice flies to allow the Cardinals to pull ahead by a run, which would prove the final margin of victory. The normally reliable right-hander has been a bit more vulnerable than usual of late, being saddled with blown saves in two of his last three outings while giving up a total of three runs on four hits over 2.2 innings in that span.
