  • Kyle Muller SP | ATH

Athletics' Kyle Muller: Takes first loss Wednesday

Muller (0-1) took the loss in an extra-innings defeat at the hands of the Rockies on Wednesday, allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits over one inning.

Muller was entrusted with preserving a 2-2 tie when he entered in the 12th inning, but he faltered almost immediately by giving up a go-ahead two-run home run to Ryan McMahon with designated runner Jake Cave aboard. Oakland would halve its two-run deficit in the home half of the frame but fall short of knotting the score back up, saddling Muller with his first loss. The southpaw sports a respectable 3.94 ERA and 1.18 WHIP, but he's allowed at least one run in nine of his 12 appearances.

  • Jon Heasley RP | KC

Orioles' Jonathan Heasley: Joins big-league bullpen

The Orioles recalled Heasley from Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday, Dan Connolly of The Athletic reports.

Heasley has been torched for seven runs (six earned) over 4.1 innings during his time with the Orioles this season. He's been much better at Norfolk, though, yielding just one run with an 18:4 K:BB in 20 frames. The right-hander should operate in middle relief.

  • Cody Bolton RP | HOU

Mariners' Cody Bolton: Sent back to Triple-A

The Mariners optioned Bolton to Triple-A Tacoma on Thursday.

Bolton will cede his spot on the 26-man roster and in the bullpen to right-hander Mike Baumann, whom the Mariners acquired from the Orioles on Wednesday. In 15 relief appearances for Seattle this season, Bolton has compiled a 4.41 ERA and 1.29 WHIP across 16.1 innings in relief.

  • Colin Poche RP | DET

Rays' Colin Poche: Throws bullpen session

Poche (back) threw a 15-pitch bullpen session Wednesday, MLB.com reports.

Poche had made little progress since suffering a back injury in late April, but he felt good after his throwing session Wednesday. He'll continue to ramp up in the hopes of facing hitters by May 30 as the next step in his recovery.

  • Chris Devenski RP | PIT

Rays' Chris Devenski: Next outing likely in majors

Devenski (knee) threw three innings and allowed one earned run on two hits while striking out three during a rehab appearance with Triple-A Durham on Wednesday.

Devenski is set to work in long relief upon his activation from the injured list, so he needed some additional time to work up his pitch count on his rehab assignment. According to MLB.com, the Rays were likely satisfied with what they saw in his outing Wednesday, meaning Devenski should be activated for the team's weekend series against the Royals.

  • Sean Newcomb RP | CHW

Athletics' Sean Newcomb: On rehab assignment

Newcomb (knee) allowed two runs over one inning in his first rehab appearance with Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday.

Newcomb had his first rehab outing over the weekend with the Arizona Complex League Athletics before moving up to a higher affiliate. Making his way back from left knee inflammation, Newcomb will probably need a couple more rehab appearances before Oakland adds him to their active roster.

  • Mitch Spence SP | KC

Athletics' Mitch Spence: Lasts three frames in no-decision

Spence did not factor into the decision in a loss to the Rockies on Wednesday, allowing two runs on five hits and three walks over three innings while striking out four.

Spence got knocked around early, surrendering a leadoff single to Charlie Blackmon to open the contest, followed by a two-run shot off the bat of Elias Diaz three batters later. Those would be the only two runs allowed by the right-hander on the night, though he continued to struggle with his command, needing 27 pitches to get through the third inning alone. Spence has been unable to get through five innings in either of his first two starts and also matched his season high with three walks Wednesday.

  • Hunter Gaddis SP | CLE

Guardians' Hunter Gaddis: Picks up third win

Gaddis (3-1) allowed a hit and struck out three without walking a batter over 1.1 innings to earn the win over the Mets on Wednesday.

Gaddis was the beneficiary of the Guardians' comeback push Wednesday, picking up his second win in five outings. The right-hander hasn't allowed a run over 9.1 innings in May while adding a 7:1 K:BB, two wins and four holds for the month. He's thriving in a high-leverage role in his first year as a full-time reliever, posting a 1.85 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 24:4 K:BB with 11 holds and three blown saves over 24.1 innings this season.

  • Mariners' Mike Baumann: Sent to Seattle

The Orioles traded Baumann and catcher Michael Perez to the Mariners on Wednesday in exchange for catcher Blake Hunt.

The 28-year-old righty was squeezed off the Orioles' 40-man roster Saturday to make room for Grayson Rodriguez's return from the injured list, and Baumann will now find a new home in the Seattle bullpen. He sports a 3.44 ERA and 1.47 WHIP alongside a 16:9 K:BB through 18.1 frames and should settle in as a middle reliever.

  • Brock Burke RP | CIN

Rangers' Brock Burke: Shifts rehab to Triple-A

The Rangers transferred Burke's (hand) rehab assignment from the rookie-level Arizona Complex League to Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday.

Burke struck out four over two scoreless innings between a pair of appearances in the ACL. He'll likely stick around with Round Rock for at least the next two weeks, as he's not eligible to return from the 60-day injured list until mid-June.
