Garrett Crochet RP | BOS
White Sox's Garrett Crochet: Makes spring debut
Crochet threw 34 pitches and completed 1.2 innings in his Cactus League debut against the Dodgers on Tuesday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Crochet returned from Tommy John surgery early last season, but he also faced shoulder trouble that limited him to only 25 total innings combined between the majors and minors. Despite the limited workload, he's attempting to land a role in the White Sox's rotation to begin the season. He made a good impression in his first spring outing, retiring Mookie Betts, Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman to begin the game. Crochet also touched 99 mph and 100 mph with his fastball, a good sign that his arm is back to full strength.

Scholtens was placed on the 60-day injured list Tuesday with a torn UCL in his right elbow.
Scholtens finished last season on the injured list with a calf strain and will begin the 2024 campaign in the same fashion with a much more serious injury. The 29-year-old is scheduled to undergo surgery Friday, per LaMond Pope of the Chicago Tribune, and is poised to miss the entirety of the 2024 season.

Carlos Hernandez RP | CLE
Royals' Carlos Hernandez: Shut down from throwing
Hernandez (shoulder) received a cortisone injection Tuesday and has been shut down from throwing, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
The right-hander threw a bullpen session Saturday, but his sore right shoulder didn't respond well after resting for the previous two weeks. It's unclear when Hernandez will resume throwing, but his availability for Opening Day is now very much in question.

Erik Swanson RP | TOR
Blue Jays' Erik Swanson: Away from camp
Manager John Schnieder said Tuesday that Swanson stepped away from the team in order to be with his family, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
Swanson's four-year-old son was struck by a car over the weekend, and the veteran pitcher will understandably prioritize his family for the immediate future.

Brendan White RP | SEA
Tigers' Brendan White: Throws bullpen session
White (elbow) threw a bullpen session Monday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
It was his first time throwing off a mound since a brief shutdown period due to posterior right elbow discomfort. White will throw another bullpen session Thursday as he ramps back up with an eye on a Grapefruit League appearance.

Craig Kimbrel RP | NYM
Orioles' Craig Kimbrel: Ready for spring debut
Kimbrel (quadriceps) expects to make his Grapefruit League debut Thursday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.
The veteran closer had to cut a live batting practice session short over the weekend due to quad soreness, but he faced hitters Monday and reported feeling "great" Tuesday morning. With that, he appears to be in the clear for his debut in an Orioles uniform. Kimbrel signed a one-year, $13 million deal in December to replace the injured Felix Bautista (elbow) in the ninth inning.

Simeon Woods Richardson RP | MIN
Twins' Simeon Woods Richardson: Works on new arm angle
Woods Richardson has worked on adjusting his arm angle this spring from a strictly 12 o'clock release to down a few slots, MLB.com reports. Woods Richardson threw a scoreless inning with a strikeout in his spring debut Monday against the Yankees.
Woods Richardson took a step backward last season at Triple-A with a 4.91 ERA and 7.6 K/9 along with an increased walk rate to 4.8 BB/9. He also struggled in his one outing in the majors, giving up five runs in 4.2 innings. He's never had great velocity, so it was encouraging to see his fastball sit in the 92-94 mph range, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune. While he'll likely need to prove himself at Triple-A before getting another extended shot in the majors, he could be counted on this summer if Minnesota's rotation depth is tested.

Liam Hendriks RP | MIN
Red Sox's Liam Hendriks: Throwing from 60 feet
Hendriks (elbow) was spotted Monday playing catch from about 60 feet, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.
Hendriks is in the early stages of his throwing program after undergoing Tommy John surgery Aug. 2. The veteran reliever has stated that he hopes to be ready to make his Red Sox debut by late July, though the final month of the season may represent a more realistic target for Hendriks, assuming he navigates his throwing program without issue. Hendriks signed a two-year deal with Boston last week, with the organization bringing him aboard with the aim of having him being a more impactful contributor out of the bullpen in 2025.

Josh Winder RP | ARI
Twins' Josh Winder: Placed on 60-day IL
The Twins placed Winder (shoulder) on the 60-day injured list on Monday.
Winder's move to the IL is in correspondence with the Twins acquiring outfielder Manuel Margot, infielder Rayne Doncon and cash considerations from the Dodgers in exchange for Noah Miller. Winder has been slowly building his way back from a right scapula stress fracture he sustained late in 2023, and he will now be forced to sit out for the first portion of 2024. Before his injury last season, Winder appeared in 19 games in the majors and posted a 2-1 record with a 4.15 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 28:14 K:BB.
