  • Cole Sulser RP | TB

Rays' Cole Sulser: Loses 40-man spot

The Rays placed Sulser on outright waivers Saturday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Sulser appeared in four games for the Diamondbacks in 2023 before being claimed off waivers by the Rays in August. The 33-year-old reliever posted a 4.35 ERA and 1.50 WHIP across 20.2 frames in Triple-A.

  • Josh Fleming RP | TOR

Rays' Josh Fleming: Removed from 40-man

The Rays placed Fleming on outright waivers Saturday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Fleming put up a 4.70 ERA and 1.45 WHIP across 51.2 innings with the Rays in 2023, and he'll join five other teammates on the waiver wire as he loses his place on Tampa Bay's 40-man roster.

  • Jalen Beeks RP | TEX

Rays' Jalen Beeks: Cast off 40-man roster

The Rays placed Beeks on outright waivers Saturday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Beeks made numerous trips between Triple-A Durham and Tampa Bay over the course of the season, recording a 5.95 ERA and 1.49 WHIP across 42.1 major-league innings. With a career 4.38 ERA, Beeks could draw some interest on the waiver wire.

  • Jimmy Cordero RP | NYY

Yankees' Jimmy Cordero: Placed on outright waivers

The Yankees placed Cordero on outright waivers Thursday, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.

Cordero's future in the sport is uncertain after he was suspended this past July for violating Major League Baseball's Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy. He is no longer part of the 40-man roster mix in the Bronx.

  • Ryan Weber RP | NYY

Yankees' Ryan Weber: Removed from 40-man roster

The Yankees placed Weber (forearm) on outright waivers Thursday, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.

Weber pitched well for New York after being called up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in May, but his season came to an end in early June, when he was diagnosed with a right forearm strain. At last check, the 33-year-old was undergoing platelet-rich plasma treatment in an effort to avoid Tommy John surgery.

  • Matt Bowman RP | MIN

Yankees' Matt Bowman: Outrighted off 40-man

The Yankees outrighted Bowman to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Thursday.

Bowman appeared in three games for the Yankees toward the end of the season, giving up four runs across four innings -- his first MLB action since 2019. With a career 4.13 ERA and a decent minor-league resume, Bowman could draw interest from other organizations if he elects to become a free agent.

  • Cody Bolton RP | HOU

Mariners' Cody Bolton: Heads to Seattle in trade

Seattle acquired Bolton from the Pirates on Thursday in exchange for cash considerations.

Bolton surrendered 15 earned runs on 30 hits and 15 walks over his first 21.1 major-league innings with Pittsburgh in 2023, but the 25-year-old right-hander owns a 3.38 ERA with 129 strikeouts in 122.1 career innings of work at the Triple-A level. He could prove to be a nice pickup for the Mariners if his command improves.

  • Justin Garza RP | NYM

Red Sox's Justin Garza: Sent outright to Triple-A

Garza was sent outright Thursday to Triple-A Worcester, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.

Garza posted an ugly 7.36 ERA and 17:12 K:BB over 18.1 major-league innings with the Red Sox in 2023. The 29-year-old right-hander is now off the 40-man roster in Boston.

  • Sean Newcomb RP | CHW

Athletics' Sean Newcomb: Reaches agreement with Oakland

Oakland signed Newcomb (knee) to a one-year, $1 million contract Thursday, avoiding arbitration, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.

The 30-year-old left-hander was a potential non-tender candidate for the Athletics this winter, but the two parties have opted to skip that process and lock in an agreement for the 2024 season. Newcomb required lateral meniscus surgery on his left knee this past September but is expected to be fully recovered by the beginning of spring training in February. He had been operating as a starter with the A's just prior to the knee injury and could get a chance to compete for an Opening Day rotation spot in camp.

  • Orioles' Joey Krehbiel: Pushed off 40-man roster

Krehbiel was designated for assignment by the Orioles on Wednesday.

This move clears out a 40-man roster spot for outfielder Sam Hilliard, who has been claimed off waivers from Atlanta. Krehbiel, 30, logged only five innings at the major-league level in 2023 and posted a 3.89 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and 32:25 K:BB across 39.1 innings with Triple-A Norfolk.
