Brewers' Jake Cousins: Summoned from Triple-A
Milwaukee recalled Cousins from Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday.
Cousins will assume the 26-man active roster spot of Wade Miley (lat), who was placed on the 15-day injured list. Over three appearances out of the Milwaukee bullpen this season, Cousins has worked 4.2 innings while allowing an earned run on three hits and four walks while striking out four.

Packy Naughton RP | STL
Cardinals' Packy Naughton: Moved to 60-day IL
St. Louis transferred Naughton (forearm) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Wednesday.
Naughton resumed throwing earlier this month, but he still has a lot of hurdles to clear in his recovery from a left forearm strain. He originally landed on the IL on April 8 and now won't be eligible to rejoin the St. Louis bullpen until June 8.

Tony Santillan RP | CIN
Reds' Tony Santillan: Scratched from live BP
Santillan's (back/knee/hamstring) recently scheduled live batting practice session was scratched due to left hamstring soreness, Bobby Nightengale of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Santillan had finally been making some progress as he works his way back from back, knee and hamstring problems, but now he's had another setback. His future status is uncertain.

Jimmy Nelson RP | LAD
Dodgers' Jimmy Nelson: Heads to 60-day IL after setback
The Dodgers transferred Nelson (elbow) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Wednesday.
Since Nelson has been on the shelf all season, he'll be eligible for activation as soon as May 29 after shifting to the 60-day IL, but he doesn't look as though he'll be ready to go by that date. After undergoing Tommy John surgery in August 2021, Nelson was eased along slowly in spring training before he was cleared to begin a minor-league rehab assignment in late April. However, Nelson made just one appearance in the minors before he was shut down from throwing after experiencing an apparent setback in his recovery from elbow surgery, per Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. The Dodgers haven't provided an update regarding when Nelson might be ready to resume a throwing progression.

Justin Bruihl RP | STL
Dodgers' Justin Bruihl: Sent to Triple-A
The Dodgers optioned Bruihl to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday.
Bruihl's demotion is a case of the Dodgers needing a fresh arm out of the bullpen after the right-hander had appeared in three straight games, including a two-inning outing Tuesday. Dylan Covey was called up from Triple-A to take Bruihl's spot in the bullpen.

Sean Manaea RP | NYM
Giants' Sean Manaea: Moves to 'pen
The Giants moved Manaea to the bullpen prior to Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Phillies, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Manaea was spotted warming up while the Giants were nursing a 4-2 lead in the eighth inning, but he ultimately went unused. At least in the short term, the Giants are likely to limit Manaea's usage to lower-leverage spots or lefty-on-lefty matchups after he's stumbled to a 7.96 ERA and 1.77 WHIP across 26 innings in his first eight outings (six starts) since signing a two-year, $25 million deal during the offseason. Ross Stripling will stick in the rotation over Manaea now that the Giants have five healthy starters again following Alex Wood's recent return from the injured list.

Dylan Covey RP | ATL
Dodgers' Dylan Covey: Called up from Triple-A
The Dodgers selected Covey's contract from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Covey has made seven appearances for Oklahoma City in 2023, logging a 4.22 ERA and 1.44 WHIP over 32 innings. The right-hander will provide a fresh arm for the Dodgers' bullpen with the ability to work multiple innings.

Luis Frias RP | CLE
Diamondbacks' Luis Frias: Summoned from Triple-A
Arizona recalled Frias from Triple-A Reno on Wednesday.
Frias has struggled mightily thus far at the major-league level, holding a 10.23 ERA with 23 walks over 23 innings covering 20 appearances from 2021 through 2023. He's had a dominant season at Reno, however, and will give Arizona a fresh bullpen arm.
