Young (1-1) earned the win Friday by retiring the only batter he faced.

Young got the last out of the eighth inning in a 5-5 game, and the Giants pulled ahead in the top of the ninth to put him in line for the win. The southpaw has endured a rough September, allowing five runs (two earned) across 8.2 innings while adding two holds. He has a 2.53 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 17:10 K:BB through 21.1 innings between the Giants and the Guardians this year while adding five holds and a blown save.

Bickford pitched 1.1 innings against St. Louis on Friday, allowing four runs (three earned) on three hits and no walks while striking out two batters.

Bickford had his name etched into the history books when he became the fourth pitcher even to serve up career homer No. 700 to an opposing batter, as Albert Pujols tagged him for a three-run shot in the fourth inning. That was one of two homers Bickford gave up in the outing -- Lars Nootbaar got to him for a much less memorable two-run shot in the fifth frame. The long ball has been a problem for Bickford this season, as he has now served up 12 in 61 innings of work. The righty reliever entered Friday having yielded just one run over his previous 12.2 innings, so he'll look to move past this hiccup and get back on track as he vies for a spot on the NLDS roster.

Bard (6-4) struck out two and walked one across two scoreless innings to earn the win Friday against the Padres.

Bard entered the game with the score knotted at two in the ninth inning, and he stayed in the game to pitch a scoreless 10th frame. He's turned in 10 consecutive scoreless appearances, during which he's maintained a 12:3 K:BB while racking up six saves and three wins. Bard now has a 1.88 ERA and 0.99 WHIP for the season.

Floro gave up a hit and struck out one in a scoreless ninth inning Friday to record his sixth save of the season in a 5-2 win over the Nationals.

The right-hander dared a feeble Washington lineup to hit his pitches, firing nine of 10 for strikes, and only Victor Robles managed to dump a single into left field. Floro is having a strong September, posting a 1.00 ERA, 0.44 WHIP and 7:0 K:BB through nine innings while converting three of four save chances and adding a win, and barring a major offseason addition to the Miami bullpen, he'll likely head into 2023 as the favorite for the closer role.

Assad allowed four runs (three earned) on four hits and three walks over four innings against the Pirates on Friday. He struck out two and did not factor in the decision.

Assad would've taken the loss if not for the Pirates' bullpen giving up the game. The right-handed rookie allowed one run in the first inning, followed by Jack Suwinski's solo homer in the second and two more runs in the third. Assad has given up 12 earned runs over his last 17.1 frames, raising his season ERA to 4.28 through seven appearances. He's currently projected to face the Phillies at home next week.

Uelman allowed a hit and two walks in a scoreless inning against the Pirates on Friday. He struck out one and earned a save.

Uelman got his first save opportunity since blowing a chance against the Nationals on Aug. 17. He loaded the bases with two outs but ended the threat by striking out Cal Mitchell. After giving up eight runs in a four-game span, Uelman has now turned in four straight scoreless appearances. Brandon Hughes (ankle), Mark Leiter and Rowan Wick did not pitch Friday, and Uelman shouldn't be expected to see many more save chances down the stretch.

Wilson yielded two runs on five hits and three walks over five innings against the Cubs on Friday. He struck out five and did not factor in the decision.

Wilson was in line to pick up his fourth win before Wil Crowe coughed up the lead in the sixth inning, resulting in a Pirates loss. The 24-year-old Wilson threw a fairly clean outing with the exception of Patrick Wisdom's two-run shot in the second. Wilson ended a streak of seven consecutive starts with at least three earned runs and lowered his season ERA to 5.95 through 104.1 frames. He's lined up to face the Reds at home next week.

Manaea gave up three earned runs on six hits and three walks over 3.2 innings while striking out two in a 4-3 extra-inning loss to the Rockies on Friday. He did not factor into the decision.

Manaea couldn't make it out of the fourth inning, and he was pulled from the game after throwing 69 pitches. The 30-year-old left-hander has struggled immensely this season, and 2022 is shaping up to be his worst full season as a starter. Manaea's season-long ERA of 5.23 is the highest of his seven-year career. He is tentatively expected to make his next start in a tough matchup against the Dodgers.

Doval earned the save during Friday's 6-5 victory over the Diamondbacks, allowing one hit while striking out one in a scoreless ninth inning.

Doval was granted the save chance after San Francisco took the lead in the top of the ninth and was able to work around a two-out Josh Rojas single to convert his seventh straight save opportunity. The 25-year-old has been lights out in September, permitting just eight baserunners and no runs compared to 13 strikeouts in 10.2 innings across 10 appearances while recording seven saves and two wins. The solid stretch has reduced Doval's ERA from 2.85 to 2.38.

Williams retired the only four batters he faced while earning a save over the Reds on Friday. He struck out three.

Williams recorded one out to end the eighth inning before striking out the side in the ninth to finish off a 5-3 win. The 28-year-old righty now has 14 saves in 15 attempts this season. He's allowed one run over his last 9.2 innings, lowering his season ERA to 1.72 through 62 appearances.
