Doval (5-6) allowed a hit in a scoreless inning and earned the win Sunday over the Phillies.

Doval kept the game tied at 3-3 in the top of the ninth inning, setting the stage for Wilmer Flores' walkoff two-run home run in the bottom of the frame. Doval continues to pitch fairly well, as he's allowed four runs (two earned) across 13 innings since the start of August. The Giants' closer owns a 2.73 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 66:26 K:BB while converting 19 of 22 save chances through 56 innings this season.

Bednar (back) threw a side session Sunday, Justice delos Santos of MLB.com reports.

Bednar has been on the shelf for just over a month with low-back inflammation, so he'll likely need to throw at least one more bullpen session before advancing to facing hitters in live batting practice. If all goes well, Bednar could start a brief minor-league rehab assignment next week before returning from the 15-day injured list. While Bednar has been sidelined, three Pirates relievers -- Wil Crowe, Chase De Jong and Eric Stout -- have picked up one save apiece.

Dominguez (triceps) is scheduled to face hitters in live batting practice Tuesday, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

With Dominguez recently emerging from a bullpen session without incident, he'll be ready to take another step forward in his recovery from triceps tendinitis by facing hitters. If all goes well Tuesday, Dominguez could begin what would likely be a one- or two-appearance minor-league rehab assignment as soon as Thursday. Once he's ready to return from the 15-day injured list, Dominguez could re-emerge as the Phillies' preferred option for save chances.

Helsley walked one and struck out one in a scoreless inning to earn the save in Sunday's 2-0 win over the Cubs.

Helsley had logged three wins and a blown save over his five previous outings, with Giovanny Gallegos responsible for two saves since Helsley's last successful closing assignment. The 28-year-old issued a one-out walk to Zach McKinstry but got Seiya Suzuki to ground into a double play to end the game. Helsley has permitted three runs (all via solo home runs) in 12 innings since the start of August, accounting for half of the earned runs he's given up all year. He has a 0.99 ERA, 0.68 WHIP and 80:16 K:BB while converting 13 of 17 save chances through 54.1 innings.

The Pirates transferred Holderman (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Sunday, Justice delos Santos of MLB.com reports.

The move opens up a spot on the 40-man roster for right-hander Peter Solomon, whom the Pirates claimed off waivers from the Astros. It also spells an official end to Holderman's season, as the right-hander had been placed on the 15-day IL on Aug. 26 and now won't be eligible to be activated before the Pirates' campaign comes to a close in the first week of October. After joining the Pirates on July 22 in a deal with the Mets, Holderman gave up eight earned runs on nine hits and seven walks in 10.2 innings across his nine relief appearances with the big club.

The Pirates claimed Solomon off waivers from the Astros on Sunday and optioned him to Triple-A Indianapolis, Justice delos Santos of MLB.com reports.

The 26-year-old right-hander had been one of the top pitching prospects in the upper levels of the Astros' farm system, but Houston's ample starting depth at the big-league level made it tough for Solomon to get an extended opportunity in the majors. Though he'll head to Triple-A with his new organization, the Pirates should at least present Solomon with a clearer path to pitching meaningful innings in the majors either later this year or next season. Over his 97 innings at Triple-A Sugar Land in 2022, Solomon posted a 5.20 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 88:44 K:BB in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League.

The Nationals placed Arano on the 15-day injured list Sunday with a right shoulder strain.

Arano's placement on the IL is retroactive to Friday, making him eligible for activation as soon as Sept. 17 if his shoulder issue proves to be a minor concern. The right-hander had been sharp over his last seven relief appearances prior to landing on the IL, as he struck out 11 over 6.2 scoreless innings while allowing eight baserunners.

The Nationals recalled Machado from Triple-A Rochester on Sunday.

He'll rejoin the big-league bullpen as a replacement for right-hander Victor Arano (shoulder), who was placed on the 15-day injured list in a corresponding move. Over 43.1 innings with the Nationals on the season, Machado has logged a 4.57 ERA and 1.43 WHIP to go with one win and two holds.

The Mets optioned Medina to Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Medina was sent packing so that the Mets could clear room on the 28-man active roster for Carlos Carrasco (oblique), who was reinstated from the 15-day injured list in advance of his start Sunday against the Nationals. During his three-day stint in the majors, Medina's lone appearance came in the Mets' 7-1 loss Saturday, when he recorded just one out and surrendered five runs (four earned) on five hits and one walk.

Jansen blew the save during Saturday's 2-1 win against the Marlins, allowing one run on two hits and a walk in two-thirds of an inning.

Jansen entered in the ninth inning to protect a 1-0 lead and immediately faltered, surrendering three straight baserunners prior to recording an out. A Jerar Encarnacion sacrifice fly brought in the tying run and the 34-year-old recorded an additional out before he was removed following a lengthy delay due to an injury to the home plate umpire. Jansen has now surrendered five runs in three innings across his last four appearances and has suffered two blown saves in the process, increasing his ERA from 3.04 to 3.75.
