Martin will start Sunday's game against the Nationals, Jody Jackson of Bally Sports Arizona reports.

The 26-year-old will have a chance to earn a spot in the Diamondbacks' rotation after Dallas Keuchel was designated for assignment Wednesday. Martin made five relief appearances for Arizona earlier this year and posted a 4.40 ERA and 1.47 WHIP in 14.1 innings.

Treinen (shoulder) could return in mid-August, according to manager Dave Roberts, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

He threw a 25-pitch bullpen session Saturday -- his fifth such session as he works his way back from a shoulder injury. Treinen threw all his pitches and said the velocity and spin readings came back looking good. It's possible he could be a source of good ratios, strikeouts and at least the occasional save over the final six weeks of the season.

VerHagen is getting a second opinion on his right hip, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

The injury has been labeled an impingement, but VerHagen has dealt with the injury for months. It's possible he is getting the second opinion to determine if surgery makes sense.

May (triceps) will begin a rehab assignment at Double-A Binghamton on Sunday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

May has been sidelined since early May due to a stress reaction in the lower portion of his humerus but will throw one inning in Binghamton on Sunday. The right-hander is expected to require 4-5 rehab appearances before he's cleared to rejoin the Mets.

Topa (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment with the Brewers' rookie-level Florida Complex League affiliate Saturday, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Topa sustained a significant right elbow injury in September of 2021 and was forced to begin the 2022 campaign on the injured list. The right-hander also dealt with an elbow issue during spring training in 2021, so it wouldn't be surprising to see the Brewers take a cautious approach during his rehab assignment to prevent an aggravation.

Holderman was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis on Saturday, Mike Persak of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Holderman was traded from the Mets to the Pirates on Friday, and he'll be sent to the minors a day later. The right-hander made five major-league appearances between the two teams in July and allowed a run (zero earned) on a hit and three walks while striking out four in 6.1 innings.

Wilson is scheduled to start Tuesday's game against the Cubs in Chicago.

He'll retain a spot in the Pittsburgh rotation coming out of the All-Star break after striking out three over 3.1 innings and allowing two earned runs against the Rockies on July 17 following his call-up from Triple-A Indianapolis. So long as Wilson avoids an implosion against the Cubs, he could build some security at the back end of the rotation.

Martinez earned a hold against the Mets on Friday with a perfect eighth inning of work.

Yu Darvish gave the Padres a standout seven-inning start during which he allowed only one run, and Martinez continued that excellence by retiring all three batters he faced on 12 pitches in the eighth frame. The outing was the fourth straight in which Martinez has worked one inning or fewer after he went at least two frames in each of his first 16 appearances -- most of which came as a starter -- this season. With two holds in his past three relief outings, it appears that the right-hander is moving into more of a high-leverage role in the San Diego bullpen.

Vesia (2-0) earned the win against San Francisco on Friday by retiring the only batter he faced.

With the game tied 1-1 in the eighth inning, Vesia was summoned with two outs and two runners on base to face David Villar. Vesia got Villar to ground out, and the lefty reliever earned the win as a result of Los Angeles scoring four times in the bottom of the frame. It was a nice bounce-back effort from Vesia after he allowed two runs in two-thirds of an inning against the Giants on Thursday.

Rogers worked a scoreless ninth inning Friday to record his 27th save of the season in a 4-1 win over the Mets.

He did hit a batter with a pitch but otherwise Rogers was sharp, tossing 11 of 15 pitches for strikes. The southpaw may be over his early July struggles, as he's converted four straight save chances and turned in three straight scoreless appearances. On the season, Rogers sports a 3.72 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 44:7 K:BB through 38.2 innings.
