Thompson has been shut down for the final week of the 2021 season due to shoulder soreness, Gordon Wittenmyer of NBC Sports Chicago reports.

Thompson was effective enough in Sunday's start, allowing just one run in three innings in a no-decision against the Cardinals. He dealt with a shoulder injury earlier in the year, and the issue apparently flared up Sunday. Manager David Ross didn't sound too concerned about Thompson's current injury, so he should have a relatively normal offseason.

Brogdon (groin) was activated off the injured list as expected Tuesday.

Brogdon will wind up missing just over two weeks with a strained right groin. He's ready to go after making just a single rehab appearance and will give the Phillies a reliable option in their bullpen, as he owns a 3.60 ERA and 1.15 WHIP on the season.

Perez was optioned to Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday.

Perez's latest stint in the big-league bullpen lasted just three days. He looked good in both of his appearances, striking out three over a pair of scoreless innings without allowing a hit or walk, but the Reds elected to send him down to clear a roster spot for Tuesday's starter, Riley O'Brien.

Rainey allowed one run on a hit and a walk in one inning Sunday and recorded a save against Colorado.

Rainey gave up a two-out RBI double to C.J. Cron but escaped the threat to finish off the 5-4 win. He's converted his last two save chances, making him 3-for-6 on the year. Rainey has produced a 6.75 ERA and 39:23 K:BB through 30.2 frames.

Sanmartin (1-0) yielded one run on five hits and a walk over 5.2 innings Monday, striking out five and earning a win over the Pirates.

Sanmartin tossed 60-of-93 pitches for strikes and kept the Pirates scoreless through the first four innings. The only damage against him came in the fifth when Anthony Alford scored on a wild pitch. It was his first career MLB start after posting a 3.94 ERA and an 89:23 K:BB with Triple-A Louisville this season. The 25-year-old southpaw could be in line for another start against the Pirates this weekend in Pittsburgh.

Bruihl picked up a hold against Arizona on Sunday, hurling a scoreless inning during which he allowed one hit and one walk.

Bruihl came on in relief of starter Julio Urias in the sixth inning and allowed a pair of baserunners, but he was able to retire Kole Calhoun with runners on the corners to keep the Diamondbacks off the scoreboard. The hold was the third of the campaign for the rookie and his first since Aug. 21. Bruihl has struggled of late -- over his past four outings, he has given up four runs and six hits across 2.2 frames -- but he has posted a respectable 3.24 ERA and 1.20 WHIP across 16.2 innings overall.

Jansen picked up the save Sunday against the Diamondbacks after tossing a scoreless ninth inning, giving up a hit but striking out two.

Jansen entered the game in the ninth inning with the Dodgers holding a three-run lead, and while he started his outing allowing a single to Josh Rojas, that would be all the damage the Diamondbacks would inflict on the 33-year-old reliever. Jansen has been outstanding of late and has given up just one earned run over his last 19 appearances (18.1 innings) dating back to Aug. 20. He owns a 0.49 ERA and a 0.55 WHIP in that span.

The Reds selected Sanmartin's contract from Triple-A Louisville ahead of Monday's game against the Pirates.

Cincinnati designated catcher Beau Taylor for assignment and placed Luis Castillo (personal) on the family medical emergency list to clear room for Sanmartin on the 40-man roster and 28-man active roster, respectively. Sanmartin will immediately slot into the rotation Monday, and he could line up for a two-start week with the status of Castillo and Wade Miley (neck) in question for next weekend's three-game series in Pittsburgh. Sanmartin, a 25-year-old lefty, submitted a 3.94 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 89:23 K:BB across 82.1 innings at Louisville this season.

Johnson (3-4) was tagged with the loss Sunday against Atlanta after allowing one run on one hit and one walk across one inning.

Johnson pitched the sixth inning, and he gave up the game-winning run when Orlando Arcia doubled Joc Pederson home. Johnson has already made 10 appearances out of the bullpen for the Padres this month but the results have not been encouraging, and he's given up runs in five of his last seven trips to the mound. While he owns a 3.28 ERA on the season, that figure rises to 5.23 when accounting for his 10 outings in September.

Minter (3-6) earned the win Sunday against the Padres after recording the final out of the fifth inning.

Minter entered the game to face Trent Grisham and tamed him down with just two pitches -- that would be everything he'd need to claim his third win of the campaign. The left-hander hasn't pitched more than one inning in any of his last seven appearances but has looked impressive of late, and he's riding a streak of six straight scoreless outings. He owns a 3.24 ERA across 10 appearances (8.1 innings) this month.
