Loup (3-0) allowed a walk and struck out one in one inning Friday, earning the win over Pittsburgh.

The southpaw worked the sixth inning of a tied game, immediately following starter Taijuan Walker. Loup was the beneficiary of the Mets' offense exploding for 10 runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead. The 33-year-old has been quite effective lately, allowing just one run in his last 13 innings while racking up a pair of wins and four holds. For the year, he has a 1.73 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 32:6 K:BB in 26 innings across 30 appearances.

Vesia was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday.

The lefty has posted a 1.00 ERA in nine innings of relief with the Triple-A squad after being sent down June 3. Vesia's work with the Dodgers earlier this season was less impressive, as he yielded seven runs, including three home runs, in just 10.2 innings. He'll fill the roster spot of Jimmy Nelson (back), who was placed on the 10-day IL on Friday.

Nelson was placed on the 10-day injured list Friday with a left lumbar strain.

The righty has posted a 1.08 ERA in 8.1 innings of work since returning from the IL on June 3, striking out 11 and walking just two in that span. Nelson's 2.00 ERA through 25 appearances in 2021 has made him one of the Dodgers' most valuable relievers, but he'll be sidelined until the start of the second half, if not longer, with the lumbar strain. Lefty Alex Vesia was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City in a corresponding move.

The Diamondbacks recalled Young from Triple-A Reno on Friday.

The lefty allowed two runs in four innings with Reno after being optioned June 29. At the big-league level, Young has a 5.82 ERA through 38.2 innings in 2021, and figures to add some bullpen depth for the final three games before the break.

The Padres placed Pomeranz on the 10-day injured list Friday with left forearm inflammation.

The lefty has appeared in four games since returning from a lat injury June 29, allowing three hits and walking two in 3.1 scoreless innings. Per Dennis Lin of The Athletic, manager Jayce Tingler said Friday that Pomeranz could be activated when he's first eligible to come off the IL on July 17, so the injury doesn't appear to be serious as of now.

The Padres recalled Knehr from Double-A San Antonio to start Friday's game against the Rockies, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

The righty makes the leap all the way to the big leagues to start in place of Blake Snell (fatigue). Knehr has pitched to a 3.90 ERA in 55.1 innings with a 46:22 K:BB in his 11 starts at Double-A. The Padres have not indicated how long into the game he's expected to pitch, but it doesn't figure to be more than a few innings.

Castano (shoulder) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Friday.

The left-hander has been on the shelf just over a month with a left shoulder impingement, and he now won't be eligible to be activated for another month. It's unclear how long Castano is expected to be sidelined by the injury.

Underwood hit the 10-day injured list with right side discomfort Friday, Jake Crouse of MLB.com reports.

The move was made retroactive to Thursday, so Underwood will be eligible to return July 18. It's not yet clear if the Pirates expect him to do so. Austin Davis was recalled in a corresponding move.

Bass will start Friday's game versus Atlanta, Craig Mish of SportsGrid.com reports.

The right-hander will start Friday's contest as manager Don Mattingly employs a bullpen game after starter Zach Thompson (illness) was scratched. Bass won't provide much length given he hasn't pitched more than one inning during any appearance this season. He has a 4.13 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 29:15 K:BB across 32.2 frames.

Garcia signed a major-league contract with the Cardinals on Friday.

The veteran righty has had some effective seasons in the past, and his career 4.26 ERA in 315 innings at the highest level is respectable enough, but it's unclear how much he has left in the tank at age 34. He threw just 8.1 innings for the Rangers last season, struggling to a 7.56 ERA, and he's yet to make his season debut this year. He's pitched well enough in 17.1 innings for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in the Yankees' system, posting a 3.63 ERA and 27.5 percent strikeout rate, so he could still be useful in lower-leverage situations for his new team.
