Gilbreath (0-1) allowed an unearned run on a hit and a walk in a third of an inning to take the loss against the Brewers on Friday.

The southpaw recorded the final out of the 10th inning but issued a single and a walk to load the bases in the 11th. Following his removal, Keston Hiura hit a sacrifice fly off Yency Almonte to end the game. Gilbreath has made six relief appearances since he was recalled by Colorado, and he hasn't allowed any earned runs in five innings during that time.

Bard allowed two runs on one hit and one walk while striking out three in the ninth inning to blow the save in Friday's loss to the Brewers.

Bard picked up his 10th save of the season in Wednesday's win over the Mariners, but he was unable to preserve a two-run lead in Friday's matchup as the Rockies went on to lose in 11 innings. The right-hander still likely has decent job security as Colorado's closer given the team's lack of other options, but he's been charged with a loss and a blown save across his last three appearances.

Manager Joe Girardi said Friday that Neris has been supplanted as the Phillies' closer by Jose Alvarado, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Girardi indicated after Neris blew another save Wednesday that he'd consider making a change at closer, and Alvarado will now be Philadelphia's top option in save situations. Neris went 9-for-11 in save opportunities with a 1.90 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 29:8 K:BB through his first 25 outings of the season, but he blew three saves and surrendered six runs in his past six appearances. The 30-year-old will shift to a different role for now, though he could reclaim the closer's job later on if he can rediscover his earlier form.

Manager Joe Girardi said Friday that Alvarado has overtaken Hector Neris as Philadelphia's top option for saves, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Alvarado has two saves this season with his last one coming May 5, but he'll receive an opportunity as the Phillies' closer after Neris was unable to convert three of his past four save chances. Alvarado has also recorded nine holds while posting a 2.70 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 36:23 K:BB across 26.2 innings. The left-hander's 19.7 percent walk rate, which would be a career-worst mark, will be his largest hurdle in his path to securing the closer's gig long term.

De Los Santos was recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley to serve as the 27th man for Friday's doubleheader against the Mets.

The right-hander had a two-day stint in the majors in mid-June, and he'll rejoin the big-league roster for Friday's twin bill. De Los Santos has appeared in four games for the Phillies this season and has allowed three runs on four hits with four strikeouts and a walk over three innings.

Coonrod was placed on the 10-day injured list Friday with right forearm tendinitis, retroactive to June 24.

The right-hander apparently had the injury crop up Wednesday versus Washington when he surrendered three runs on three walks while recording two strikeouts over two-thirds of an inning. The severity of the injury remains unclear, though Coonrod will be eligible to be activated in early July.

Chavez (0-1) allowed two earned runs on two hits and a walk while striking out three across 2.1 innings, taking the loss to the Reds on Thursday.

Chavez surrendered a pair of doubles that led to a pair of runs scoring against him. It wasn't a terrible performance for it being his first big-league action of the season, as he reached his projected innings total in the bullpen game. The 37-year-old has been successful in the minors this season with a 2.25 ERA through 20 innings in Triple-A but has limited fantasy value .

Santillan (1-1) allowed one earned run on three hits and three walks while striking out eight across six innings, earning the win over Atlanta on Thursday.

Freddie Freeman got to Santillan early with a solo home run in the first inning. Other than that, it was smooth sailing for the rookie as he cruised to post a quality start in his first MLB win. The 24-year-old struck out eight batters in his third start, doubling his season total. He lowered his ERA to 3.29 over 13.2 innings. His next scheduled start tentatively lines up for Tuesday against the Padres.

Alexander (shoulder) progressed to Triple-A Oklahoma City to continue his rehab assignment Thursday, Alex Freedman of Oklahoma City's broadcast team reports.

Alexander began a rehab assignment on June 18 with Low-A Rancho Cucamonga. That stint appears to have gone as planned, and he's now expected to throw at some point in Oklahoma City's game Thursday. Alexander is eligible to return from the injured list in early July and appears on track for activation close to that time.

Davidson (forearm) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Thursday, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

Davidson was placed on the 10-day injured list due to left forearm inflammation June 16, and the injury will keep him sidelined until at least mid-August. Jesse Chavez's contract was selected as part of a corresponding move, and he'll start Thursday's game against the Reds.
