Edwards (1-1) pitched a scoreless inning with two strikeouts and earned the win in Wednesday's 3-2, 11-inning victory over the Marlins.

Edwards has now tossed two hitless and scoreless innings since returning to the majors Monday. That's obviously a small sample, but it's a step in the right direction for the righty, as he allowed runs in three of four appearances before being sent down to Triple-A in early April. Edwards still has an unsightly 14.73 ERA, though he did post ERAs under 3.00 in each of the last two seasons, so he figures to keep whittling that number down.

Rodriguez won't make his previously scheduled start Thursday at Colorado following Wednesday's postponement, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.

Wednesday's scheduled starter, Derek Holland, will instead take the mound Thursday, pushing Rodriguez back at least a day. The Giants have yet to announce their plans for the starting rotation beyond Thursday, though Rodriguez figures to re-enter the fray sometime this weekend against the Reds.

Yates picked up the save against the Mets on Wednesday, working around a hit and a walk to toss a scoreless ninth inning and lock down a 3-2 victory for the Padres.

Yates had taken two straight losses prior to this appearance, but he was able to protect a one-run lead and bag his MLB-leading 15th save in as many opportunities, despite allowing a couple of baserunners. Those last two hiccups aside, Yates is off to a great start, as he's now sporting a 1.42 ERA and 34:8 K:BB over 19 innings.

Hader walked one batter but also struck out two hitters to nail down his 10th save of the season in a 7-3 victory against the Nationals on Wednesday.

The Brewers led by six early, but the Nationals pulled within four and then had two runners on base with one out in the ninth. With the tying run on deck, Brewers manager Craig Counsell immediately went to his closer in the save situation. Hader walked the first batter and then struck out two straight to end the game. Hader is 10-for-10 in save chances with a 2.95 ERA, 0.76 WHIP and 41 strikeouts in 18.1 innings this season.

Jackson accepted his outright assignment to Triple-A San Antonio, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Jackson will join the Missions after being designated for assignment by the Brewers over the weekend and subsequently passing through waivers untouched. In a trio of appearances for the Brewers this season, Jackson struck out three while allowing five runs on four hits and a walk across 2.1 innings.

Jerez was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday, Kerry Crowley of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Jerez made just one appearance during his brief stint with the Giants, firing a scoreless inning of relief while issuing a pair of walks Tuesday against the Rockies. Derek Holland (finger), who is scheduled to start Wednesday, was activated from the IL in a corresponding move.

Strop was diagnosed with a Grade 2 left hamstring strain Wednesday, Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

The issue has apparently been bothering Strop since the end of April, though it only became too bothersome during his most recent outing against the Marlins on Monday. The veteran reliever will rest for 3-to-4 days before starting to rehab his left hamstring, which is the same one that he injured during September of last season. Fortunately, Strop doesn't believe his current injury is as serious as the one he dealt with last September, which cost him close to three weeks. While nothing is confirmed, Steve Cishek, Carl Edwards and Brad Brach appear to be the most likely options to see save chances while Strop is sidelined.

Quijada was recalled from Triple-A New Orleans on Wednesday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Quijada will take the roster spot of Drew Steckenrider (elbow), who was sent to the 10-day injured list. The 23-year-old Quijada has made a pair of appearances for the Marlins this season, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out three in a scoreless frame.

Strop was placed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a left hamstring strain, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Strop apparently suffered the injury during his most recent appearance Monday against the Marlins, during which he allowed three runs on three walks and a hit en route to blowing his second save of the season. The severity of the issue is not yet known, leaving Strop without a timetable for his return at the moment. It's worth noting that this is the same hamstring that forced him to miss time last September. With Brandon Morrow (elbow) also on the mend, look for Steve Cishek, Carl Edwards and Brad Brach all to factor into the late-inning mix for the Cubs for the time being.

Reyes (finger) threw 60-70 pitches to hitters at extended spring training Tuesday, Jim Hayes of FOX Sports Midwest reports.

Reyes, who is nursing a fractured left pinkie, was wearing a splint and throwing from behind a cage, with a coach catching the balls for him. The right-hander is currently at the midway point of his original three-week recovery timeline, though it remains to be seen if that timeline will hold true.
