  • Padres' Stephen Kolek: Not yet throwing

Kolek (forearm) is rehabbing at San Diego's team complex in Arizona, but he has not yet resumed throwing, per MLB.com.

Kolek landed on the 15-day injured list due to right forearm tendinitis July 31. He's eligible to be activated but appears to be some time away from returning given that he hasn't yet begun a throwing program. The rookie reliever appeared in 42 games prior to the injury, posting a 5.21 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 39:12 K:BB while picking up three wins and two holds over 46.2 innings.

  • Joe La Sorsa RP | PIT

Nationals' Joe La Sorsa: Receives call-up

The Nationals selected La Sorsa's contract from Triple-A Rochester on Saturday.

La Sorsa appeared in 25 games at the big-league level between the Rays and Nationals in 2023, but he had spent the entirety of the 2024 campaign with Rochester before being called up Saturday. Over his 56 innings in the minors this season, La Sorsa has posted a 2.25 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 41:11 K:BB. He'll likely work in a low-leverage role out of the Washington bullpen.

  • Ryan Brasier RP | TEX

    Dodgers' Ryan Brasier: Activated Saturday

The Dodgers reinstated Brasier (calf) from the 60-day injured list Saturday.

He hasn't pitched for the Dodgers since April 27 but did not allow a run while striking out 12 and walking one in eight innings during his rehab assignment at Triple-A Oklahoma City. Brasier should pitch in mid-leverage situations down the stretch.

  • Dodgers' Michael Grove: Optioned to OKC

The Dodgers optioned Grove to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Saturday.

Grove has made five appearances since returning from the injured list earlier this month, allowing three runs on four hits and three walks while striking out four across 4.1 frames. The Dodgers will swap him off the 26-man active roster for another reliever in right-hander Ryan Brasier (calf), who was activated from the 60-day injured list.

  • Phillies' Spencer Turnbull: Tarnsferred to 60-day IL

The Phillies transferred Turnbull (lat) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Saturday.

The move makes room on the 40-man roster for Tyler Gilbert, whose contract was selected from Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Turnbull landed on the 15-day injured list June 27 due to a right lat strain, and his move to the 60-day IL confirms that he won't be ready for activation until at least the final week of August. Whenever he eventually rejoins the big club, Turnbull is expected to work out of the bullpen for the remainder of the season. He has been limited to bullpen sessions since the start of August and has yet to embark on a minor-league rehab assignment.

  • Tyler Gilbert RP | CHW

Phillies' Tyler Gilbert: Promoted to big club

The Phillies selected Gilbert's contract from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Saturday, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Gilbert was acquired by the Phillies from the Reds back in May. Across his 26 outings with Lehigh Valley this season, he's registered six saves with a 2.45 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 45:6 K:BB across 33 innings. Tyler Phillips was optioned to Lehigh Valley in a corresponding move.

  • Riley Pint RP | COL

Rockies' Riley Pint: Jettisoned by Colorado

The Rockies outrighted Pint to Triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday.

Pint has given up eight runs on five hits and five walks across 3.1 innings in his four major-league outings this season. He was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on Thursday before being moved off the 40-man roster a couple days later.

  • Ryan Borucki RP | SF

Pirates' Ryan Borucki: Beginning rehab assignment Saturday

Borucki (wrist) will start his rehab assignment with Triple-A Indianapolis on Saturday.

Borucki, who has been on the injured list since early April due to carpal tunnel syndrome in his left wrist, was shut down from his throwing program at the beginning of August after suffering a setback. He appears to have recovered enough to return to a live setting, and the hope for the 30-year-old is that he'll be available out of Pittsburgh's bullpen for the tail end of the regular season.

  • Tyson Miller RP | CHW

Cubs' Tyson Miller: Picks up win Friday

Miller (4-1) tossed a scoreless 10th inning to earn the win out of the bullpen Friday against the Blue Jays.

After Hector Neris blew the save by allowing three runs in the ninth inning, Miller picked Chicago up with a much better 10th, needing just five pitches to shut the door on Toronto. The righty has been solid this season, as he now has a 1.83 ERA and 0.77 WHIP across 44.1 innings for the Cubs and Mariners. If Neris gets pulled from the closer role due to his middling performance, Miller could be a candidate to see save opportunities, though Porter Hodge is probably ahead of him right now in the bullpen pecking order.

  • David Bednar RP | NYY

Pirates' David Bednar: Collects 21st save

Bednar gave up a run on two hits in ninth inning Friday, recording his 21st save of the season in a 5-3 win over the Mariners. He struck out three.

The right-hander served up a solo shot to Jorge Polanco, marring what was otherwise an impressive performance. Bednar has been tagged for at least one run in a stunning six straight appearances, posting an 8:7 K:BB in 6.1 innings over that stretch and blowing two of five save chances. That August swoon has sent his ERA on the season soaring to 5.83, and while the Pirates don't seem inclined to remove him from the closer role, Aroldis Chapman has a 0.82 ERA, 0.55 WHIP and 17:2 K:BB in 11 innings since the All-Star break.
