  • JT Chargois RP | TEX

Marlins' JT Chargois: Resuming rehab assignment

Chargois (neck) resumed his rehab assignment Tuesday with Triple-A Jacksonville and walked one batter over a scoreless inning.

Chargois made three rehab appearances for Jacksonville last month before suffering a setback with his neck injury. He's cleared the necessary hurdles to return to game action and will be eligible for activation from the 60-day injured list next week, though the reliever could require more time before rejoining the Miami bullpen.

  • Bryan Hoeing RP | SD

Marlins' Bryan Hoeing: Starting rehab assignment

Hoeing (hamstring) began a rehab assignment Tuesday with Triple-A Jacksonville and struck out two while allowing one run on one hit and two walks over two innings.

Hoeing has been out since early May with a strained left hamstring. Since he hasn't been on the 15-day injured list for extended time, he'll likely be in store for a brief rehab assignment.

  • Luke Little RP | CHC

Cubs' Luke Little: Earns first MLB win

Little (1-0) tossed a scoreless 10th inning out of the bullpen to pick up the win in Tuesday's 4-3 victory over Atlanta.

Little was the sixth Chicago pitcher to enter the contest, and the lefty was effective despite starting his frame with a runner on second. This was the 23-year-old's first win in the majors in his 21st career appearance. Little is still a fairly low-leverage reliever at this point, which leaves him with limited fantasy appeal.

  • Jose Alvarado RP | PHI

Phillies' Jose Alvarado: Locks down ninth save

Alvarado earned the save in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Rangers, allowing one hit while striking out two in a scoreless ninth inning.

The Rangers got the tying run to the plate with one out in the ninth after an error and a Leody Taveras base hit. However, Alvarado would proceed to strike out Marcus Semien and Corey Seager, picking up his ninth save in a 5-2 win. While the Phillies have utilized a modified committee approach to the ninth inning, the left-handed Alvarado has established himself as their preferred closing option. His ERA sits at 3.54 with a 1.03 WHIP and 20:7 K:BB across 20.1 innings.

  • Alexis Diaz RP | TEX

Reds' Alexis Diaz: Rebounds for eighth save

Diaz earned the save in Tuesday's 2-0 win over the Padres, logging a strikeout and a walk in a scoreless inning.

After issuing a leadoff walk to Jurickson Profar in the ninth, Diaz struck out Manny Machado before inducing a game-ending double play off the bat of Jake Cronenworth to close out the shutout victory. It's an encouraging bounce-back effort from Diaz, who'd allowed five runs (four earned) in his previous three appearances (2.1 innings) while taking a pair of losses and a blown save. The 27-year-old right-hander still sports a subpar 6.62 ERA with a 1.64 WHIP and 18:14 K:BB across 17.2 innings while securing eight saves in 10 opportunities this season.

  • Brooks Raley RP | NYM

Mets' Brooks Raley: Slated for Tommy John surgery

Raley (elbow) is scheduled to undergo season-ending Tommy John next week, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Raley was diagnosed with a strained UCL in his left elbow last Wednesday, and although manager Carlos Mendoza had said the lefty's UCL was healing, Raley will elect to undergo season-ending surgery. The 35-year-old will finish the season with a 9:3 K:BB across seven scoreless innings. Given the timing of his surgery, Raley is likely to remain sidelined through the first half of the 2025 season.

  • Zack Thompson RP | STL

Cardinals' Zack Thompson: Starting Wednesday at Triple-A

Thompson is scheduled to start for Triple-A Memphis on Wednesday, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democratreports.

Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol named the left-hander as a candidate to start Saturday against the Cubs, but it appears he'll remain in the minor-league rotation. Thompson could still be an option for St. Louis if Wednesday's outing is a brief one, but the organization seems more likely to go in another direction at this point.

  • Adbert Alzolay RP | NYM

Cubs' Adbert Alzolay: Heading for second opinion

Cubs manager Craig Counsell said Tuesday that Alzolay (forearm) will receive a second opinion on his flexor strain, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

The right-hander landed on the injured list with a flexor strain last week, and news of a second opinion isn't an encouraging development. Alzolay remains without a clear timeline for his return and should be considered out indefinitely as he continues to be evaluated.

  • Yency Almonte RP | LAD

Cubs' Yency Almonte: Plays catch Tuesday

Almonte (shoulder) was seen playing catch Tuesday, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.

Almonte has been dealing with a right shoulder strain but resumed throwing after being shut down for nearly two weeks. It's unclear if he'll need a rehab assignment before returning from the injured list, but the righty will likely be out for at least another week.

  • Cubs' Daniel Palencia: Starting rehab assignment

Palencia (shoulder) will begin his rehab assignment Tuesday at Triple-A Iowa, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.

Palencia was placed on the 15-day injured list May 7 with a shoulder strain and will make his first in-game appearance since sustaining the injury. It's unclear how many rehab appearances Palencia will need before being deemed ready to return.
