  • Angel Chivilli RP | NYY

Rockies' Angel Chivilli: Back in bigs

The Rockies recalled Chivilli from Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday.

Chivilli was optioned to Triple-A last Friday after a week-long stint on the restricted list. The 23-year-old will rejoin the Rockies bullpen ahead of a three-game series in Pittsburgh. Chivilli has a 7.29 ERA and a 31:19 K:BB across 42 innings with Colorado this season.

  • Ian Gibaut RP | CIN

Reds' Ian Gibaut: Moved to 60-day IL

The Reds transferred Gibaut (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list Friday.

The transaction frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for the addition of Zach Maxwell. Gibaut is set to miss the remainder of the season following arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder.

  • Zach Maxwell RP | CIN

Reds' Zach Maxwell: Officially brought up

The Reds selected Maxwell's contract from Triple-A Louisville on Friday.

Maxwell will make his MLB debut when he gets into a game. The 24-year-old reliever has a 4.17 ERA and a 1.50 WHIP with a 59:32 K:BB across 49.2 innings for Louisville in 2025. Ian Gibaut (shoulder) was transferred to the 60-day injured list in a corresponding move.

  • JoJo Romero RP | STL

Cardinals' JoJo Romero: Goes two innings for save

Romero allowed a hit and struck out three over two scoreless innings to earn the save in Thursday's 7-4 win over the Rays.

Romero was brought in for the eighth inning and threw 15 pitches in that frame. He stayed in for the ninth and added 11 more pitches to secure his fourth save of the season. It's encouraging usage for Romero, who had two losses, one blown save and two holds over hos previous four appearances, which made it look like his time as closer was over just weeks after it started. The lefty reliever has a 2.31 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 45:21 K:BB while adding 18 holds over 46.2 innings this season. Riley O'Brien has had a fairly stable August compared to Romero, which has pushed the Cardinals' late-inning situation into more of a committee approach.

  • Jose Ferrer RP | SEA

Nationals' Jose Ferrer: Strikes out three in save

Ferrer earned the save in Thursday's 9-3 win over the Mets, allowing one hit and no walks in 1.1 scoreless innings. He struck out three.

Ferrer entered the game with the Nationals nursing a 5-3 lead in the eighth inning, but Washington scored four more runs in the bottom half of the frame to give him a big cushion to work with while recording the final three outs. The 25-year-old southpaw has emerged as the clear favorite for saves following the Kyle Finnegan trade, having now converted each of his four save chances in August. Over his last 18.2 innings, Ferrer sports a 1.93 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 18:2 K:BB.

  • Jordan Wicks SP | CHC

Cubs' Jordan Wicks: Returned to minors

Wicks was returned to Triple-A Iowa on Wednesday, MLB.com reports.

Wicks served as the 27th man for the Cubs' doubleheader Tuesday, though he didn't appear in either contest. He's been effective as a starter with Iowa this season, but he has a bloated 9.72 ERA and 2.40 WHIP across 8.1 innings in the majors.

  • Kirby Yates RP | LAA

Dodgers' Kirby Yates: Set to be activated Saturday

Yates (back) is expected to be activated from the injured list Saturday, Kirsten Watson of Spectrum SportsNet LA reports.

Yates has been sidelined since late July and is currently on a rehab assignment. He managed one scoreless inning with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday and will likely make at least one more appearance prior to being activated. Tanner Scott (elbow) is expected to be activated Friday, so Yates isn't likely to be a prolific source of saves.

  • Trevor Megill RP | MIL

Brewers' Trevor Megill: Up to 30 saves

Megill earned the save in Thursday's 4-1 win over the Cubs, allowing one hit while striking out one in a scoreless ninth inning.

Megill has allowed just one earned run in his last 15 appearances (14.1 innings) while striking out 18 in that span. The 31-year-old right-hander has converted 30 saves this year, good for third most in the majors, while posting a 2.05 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 55:14 K:BB across 44 innings.

  • Ryan Brasier RP | CHC

Cubs' Ryan Brasier: Struggles persist Thursday

Brasier allowed two runs on three hits and a walk across an inning of relief in Thursday's 4-1 loss to the Brewers.

Brasier didn't take the loss Thursday, but he didn't help the Cubs stay in the game either. The veteran righty has been scored upon in six of his last eight appearances, and he has a rough 14.85 ERA during that stretch. Overall, Brasier now has a 4.50 ERA and 1.23 WHIP across 26 innings this season, and he's not among Chicago's high-leverage bullpen options at the moment.

  • Dylan Dodd SP | ATL

Braves' Dylan Dodd: Recalled from Gwinnett

Atlanta recalled Dodd from Triple-A Gwinnett on Thursday.

Dodd has appeared in 17 games out of the bullpen for Atlanta this season, registering a 3.80 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 20:2 K:BB across 21.1 innings. He'll likely work in middle relief while up in the majors.
