The Diamondbacks selected Hughes' contract from Triple-A Reno on Tuesday.

Hughes had a terrific rookie season with the Cubs in 2022 but has struggled since then partly due to nagging knee issues. He's healthy now, though, and earned a promotion after allowing four runs (three earned) over 14.2 frames with Reno.

Chargois (neck) suffered a setback while on a rehab assignment, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Chargois had made three rehab appearances with Triple-A Jacksonville but evidently is having issues with his neck again. The reliever has been out all season and also missed most of spring training due to neck spasms. It's not clear how long he might now be sidelined.

The Rockies transferred Gilbreath (elbow/shoulder) to the 60-day injured list Tuesday.

Gilbreath had seemed close to completing the long road back from Tommy John surgery, but now he's developed a shoulder issue. It's not clear how long he might be out, but he won't be eligible to return until late May.

Sanchez is slated to serve as the Marlins' opening pitcher for Tuesday's game against the Rockies in Miami, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Sanchez will be making his second straight appearance as an opener after working a season-high 2.2 innings while allowing three earned runs on five hits and one walk in a no-decision against Atlanta last Wednesday. He draws a less challenging assignment Tuesday, but Sanchez is still unlikely to be called upon to cover more than three or four innings before he turns the game over to the bullpen. The Marlins don't have an obvious candidate in their bullpen to piggyback Sanchez, making it difficult to target any Miami pitcher as a streaming option for Tuesday.

Diaz (0-1) took the loss Monday against the Cubs, allowing two runs on two hits with three strikeouts across one inning.

Diaz spoiled Luis Severino's eight-inning gem, allowing a double to Mike Tauchman and a two-run home run to Christopher Morel in the final frame to put the Cubs ahead 3-1, where the score would remain. The loss was Diaz's first true blemish of the campaign, being a perfect 4-for-4 in save chances with no prior losses. His ERA jumped from 0.93 to 2.53 following Monday's contest and his WHIP sits at 0.94 through 10.2 innings.

Wilson (2-1) allowed one run on four hits and two walks over six innings Monday, striking out six and taking a loss against the Rays.

Wilson coughed up a run in the first inning but finished his night with five straight scoreless frames. It was the first time this season he finished at least five innings and he dropped his season ERA to 3.00 through 24 innings. Wilson forced 10 whiffs Monday after totaling just nine over his previous three appearances (9.1 innings). Wilson is currently slated to face the Cubs on the road this weekend.

Leiter (1-1) retired the only two batters he faced out of the bullpen to earn the win in Monday's 3-1 victory over the Mets.

Starter Jameson Taillon was excellent over 7.1 innings, but the Cubs turned to Leiter to get the last two outs of the eighth. The veteran righty delivered, then scooped up his first win of the year when Christopher Morel hit a go-ahead home run in the top of the ninth. Leiter has been excellent all year, posting a 0.69 ERA and 13 strikeouts across 13 innings. He should continue to work in a setup role ahead of new closer Hector Neris, though he could be next up for saves if Neris falters.

Neris worked around two walks to pitch a clean ninth inning and record the save in Monday's 3-1 win over the Mets. He struck out two.

Neris put a few runners on base, but he got out of trouble to secure his fourth save of the season. All of those saves have come in the last nine days, which coincides with Adbert Alzolay getting removed from the closer's role. The more success Neris has moving forward, the firmer his grip will get on the job, which will only increase his fantasy value. The veteran is the top Chicago reliever to target at the moment.

The Dodgers have received reports that Treinen is faring well on his rehab assignment, and he's expected to make another appearance for Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Treinen has given up five runs over 2.1 innings during his first three outings with Triple-A Oklahoma City, but the team is pleased with how he's pitched, per Harris. It remains to be seen whether Wednesday's appearance at Triple-A will be Treinen's last before being activated from the 15-day injured list.

Varland was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Monday.

Varland will return to the major-league roster after being sent down to Oklahoma City on April 8. The right-hander has pitched two-thirds of an inning with the Dodgers over two appearances this season, allowing two runs (one earned). He'll replace Ryan Brasier (calf) in the bullpen for Los Angeles after Brasier was placed on the 15-day injured list Monday.
