Jackson (1-2) took the loss Tuesday, allowing six runs on three hits and five walks over 4.1 innings against the Brewers. He struck out two.

Jackson retired the first nine Brewers he faced and managed to limit the fourth-inning damage to just one run after walking the bases loaded to start the frame. However, the wheels came off in the fifth, when the 27-year-old was charged with five more runs on three hits and two walks. In Jackson's previous six appearances since returning to the big-league squad Aug. 5, he posted a 2.92 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 27:7 K:BB across 24.2 innings. He'll look to get back on track in his next outing, which is projected to be early next week versus the Nationals.

Chargois will serve as the Marlins' opening pitcher for Wednesday's game against the Dodgers, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Chargois threw a scoreless inning the last time he was called on to serve as Miami's opener Aug. 27 against Washington. He'll likely remain Wednesday's game for no more than an inning or two before turning the contest over to the bullpen. The Marlins could turn to Bryan Hoeing to work in bulk relief behind Chargois or go with Edward Cabrera, who is with the Marlins' taxi squad and could be formally called up from Triple-A Jacksonville on Wednesday.

Selby will serve as the Pirates' opening pitcher for Wednesday's game against the Brewers, Justice delos Santos of MLB.com reports.

Wednesday will mark the third time Selby has picked up a start since being promoted to the majors in August. He didn't allow a run in either of his first two starts, but he gave up two runs in just one-third of an inning during his most recent appearance. He'll likely stay in the game for an inning or two before turning the game over to either Bailey Falter or Mitch Keller, who could be candidates to pitch in bulk relief.

Diaz (knee) is scheduled to throw two bullpen sessions this week in front of the Mets' major-league coaching staff, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Those workouts could go a long way toward determining whether Diaz will be allowed to pitch in the majors this season. That he's traveling with the Mets on their current road trip is a positive sign, but manager Buck Showalter continues to call it a week-to-week situation. The 29-year-old required surgery this spring after tearing the patellar tendon in his right knee while celebrating Team Puerto Rico's victory over Team Dominican Republic in the World Baseball Classic.

San Francisco optioned Beck to Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Beck had been lit up for 11 runs -- nine earned -- over his last 8.1 innings (two starts, one relief appearance) with the Giants. John Brebbia (lat) is returning from the 60-day injured list in a corresponding move.

San Francisco activated Brebbia (lat) from the 60-day injured list Tuesday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Brebbia made three scoreless minor-league rehab appearances and is now back in the Giants' bullpen ahead of Tuesday night's game against the Cubs. He had been sidelined since June 17 due to a Grade 2 lat strain.

The Mets recalled Coonrod from Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Coonrod has missed most of this season due to a high-grade lat strain, but he's pitched to a 1.69 ERA over 5.1 major-league innings (seven relief appearances) when healthy. The 30-year-old right-hander will be available out of the bullpen Tuesday at Washington.

Fulmer (forearm) is expected to throw a bullpen session Wednesday, Tony Andracki of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Fulmer has been playing catch without issue over the last few days and is ready to take the next step in his recovery from the mild right forearm strain that sent him to the injured list Aug. 26. He could potentially skip a minor-league rehab assignment and return to the Cubs' bullpen this weekend if everything continues to go smoothly.

Mariot was designated for assignment by the Reds on Tuesday.

Mariot made his first major-league appearance in seven years Monday versus the Mariners and allowed one earned run on four hits and one walk over 2.2 innings of relief. Kevin Herget will take his place on the 40-man roster as he returns to the Reds' bullpen ahead of Tuesday night's game against Seattle.

Cincinnati selected Herget's contract from Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday.

Herget has struggled to a 5.73 ERA in 22 innings this season at the major-league level, but the Reds are in need of fresh arms. The 32-year-old right-hander will likely operate in a low-leverage relief role.
