  • Ryan Brasier RP | TEX

Dodgers' Ryan Brasier: Loses roster spot

Brasier was designated for assignment by the Dodgers on Thursday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

The Dodgers made their signing of Kirby Yates official, with Brasier losing his spot on the roster as a result. Brasier had a strong 3.54 ERA and 0.96 WHIP with a 25:5 K:BB across 28 innings in 2024, so he has a good shot to land elsewhere either via a waiver claim or trade.

  • Reds' Casey Legumina: Designated for assignment

The Reds designated Legumina for assignment Thursday.

With Austin Hays officially signing with Cincinnati on Thursday, Legumina will end up as the odd man out of a roster spot. The 27-year-old righty allowed nine earned runs in just 9.1 big-league innings last season, but other teams may be willing to take a chance on him after he finished the Triple-A season with a 3.03 ERA and 1.05 WHIP over 62.1 frames.

  • Dylan Covey RP | ATL

Mets' Dylan Covey: Jettisoned from 40-man

The Mets designated Covey for assignment Thursday, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.

The 33-year-old reliever will end up pushed off New York's 40-man roster to clear space for Ryne Stanek, who officially signed with the club Thursday. Covey spent the first several months of last season rehabbing a shoulder injury he suffered during spring training. Once healthy, he turned in a 1.20 ERA and 1.07 WHIP across 15 innings with the Phillies' Triple-A affiliate. His post-injury performance was enough to attract a major-league deal from the Mets this winter, so he could certainly draw attention from other organizations on the waiver wire.

  • Braves' Kolton Ingram: Nabs minor-league deal

Atlanta signed Ingram to a minor-league contract Nov. 19.

After reaching the big leagues for the first time in 2023 as a member of the Angels, Ingram spent the entire 2024 campaign in the minors with four different organizations. Between stops at the Triple-A and Double-A level last season, Ingram accrued 3.59 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 52:36 K:BB in 52.2 innings. He'll serve as relief depth in the upper levels of Atlanta's minor-league system in 2025.

  • Athletics' Anthony Maldonado: Scrubbed from 40-man roster

The Athletics designated Maldonado for assignment Thursday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

The transaction clears a spot on the 40-man roster for Elvis Alvarado, who was claimed off waivers Thursday. Maldonado was a waiver claim himself earlier this offseason and will now go through that process again. He held a 5.68 ERA and 11:7 K:BB over 19 innings with the Marlins in 2024.

  • Joe La Sorsa RP | PIT

Reds' Joe La Sorsa: Gets NRI pact with Cincinnati

The Reds signed La Sorsa to a minor-league contract Thursday that includes an invitation to spring training, Ari Alexander of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

The lefty reliever will receive $780,000 if in the majors. La Sorsa, 26, has posted a 4.47 ERA and 42:12 K:BB over 50.1 innings across parts of two seasons at the big-league level.

  • Zack Weiss RP | STL

Cardinals' Zack Weiss: Catches on with St. Louis

Weiss signed a minor-league contract with the Cardinals on Thursday.

Weiss spent all of last season in the Twins' farm system, though a shoulder injury prevented him from playing in a Triple-A game until July. After recovering, he turned in a 5.40 ERA and 1.88 WHIP across 25 innings at St. Paul and will likely remain an organizational depth piece for his new organization.

  • Rays' Jonathan Hernandez: Lands in Tampa Bay as NRI

The Rays signed Hernandez to a minor-league contract Thursday that includes an invitation to spring training, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Hernandez, 28, posted a 5.40 ERA and 39:28 K:BB over 43.1 innings between the Rangers and Mariners last season. He will compete for a bullpen job this spring but is likely ticketed for Triple-A Durham.

  • Elvis Alvarado RP | ATH

Athletics' Elvis Alvarado: Claimed by A's

The Athletics claimed Alvarado off waivers from the Pirates on Thursday, Noah Hiles of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Alvarado was designated for assignment by the Pirates earlier this week and will now join a new 40-man roster. The 25-year-old has not appeared in a major-league game, most recently posting a 2.79 ERA and 71:38 K:BB over 48.1 innings at Triple-A Jacksonville in the Marlins organization in 2024.

  • Neftali Feliz RP | SEA

Mariners' Neftali Feliz: Catches on with Seattle as NRI

The Mariners signed Feliz to a minor-league contract Thursday that includes an invitation to spring training.

Feliz, 36, has spent the last three seasons pitching in the Mexican League and has not seen any action at the big-league level since 2021. The Mariners will give the former All-Star closer a look in spring training to see what he has left in the tank.
