  • Jack Dreyer RP | LAD

Dodgers' Jack Dreyer: Mows down Phillies in relief

Dreyer struck out four while allowing no hits and issuing two walks over 2.1 scoreless innings of relief in Sunday's 8-7 loss to the Phillies.

Added to the Dodgers' 40-man roster over the winter after a standout season at Triple-A Oklahoma City, the 26-year-old Dreyer continued to thrive during spring training and earned his spot in the Opening Day bullpen. He's looked strong through his five appearances thus far, most of which have come in middle relief. The lefty has allowed just one earned run and has struck out eight batters while holding opponents to an .080 average over 7.2 innings.

  • Dennis Santana RP | ARI

Pirates' Dennis Santana: Gets high-leverage work

Santana threw a scoreless eighth inning without allowing a baserunner to record a hold Sunday against the Yankees.

Santana looked to be in line to be the Pirates' closer after David Bednar was demoted to Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday. However, he entered the game in the eighth inning Sunday to face the top of the Yankees' order, including Paul Goldschmidt, Cody Bellinger and Aaron Judge. Ryan Borucki blew the save in the ninth inning, and the rest of the Pittsburgh bullpen has been shaky, leaving Santana as the likeliest option for saves moving forward. However, his usage Sunday illustrates that he could be used in highest-leverage spots rather than being saved exclusively for the ninth inning.

  • Victor Vodnik RP | MIA

Rockies' Victor Vodnik: Picks up five-out save

Vodnik allowed one earned run on two hits and two walks while striking out two across 1.2 innings to earn the save Sunday against the A's.

Vodnik entered the game in the eighth inning with a three-run lead and struck out two of the first three batters he faced. He remained in the contest for the final frame and stumbled a bit by allowing a pair of singles and a walk. The Rockies provided Vodnik with an additional five runs of support in the home half of the eighth inning, giving him some breathing room and allowing him to record his first save of the season despite the stumble.

  • Lucas Erceg RP | KC

Royals' Lucas Erceg: Records third hold

Erceg threw a perfect inning while striking out two Sunday against Baltimore to record his third hold of the season.

Erceg has had a strong start to the season with 4.1 scoreless innings and a 3:0 K:BB. He's been working as the primary setup man to Carlos Estevez, though he could also get an occasional save chance.

  • Hunter Harvey RP | CHC

Royals' Hunter Harvey: Records second hold

Harvey struck out the only batter he faced Sunday against the Orioles in the seventh inning to earn his second hold. He's thrown 4.1 innings with seven strikeouts and no walks this season.

Harvey is working as a setup man ahead of Lucas Erceg and Carlos Estevez and should pile up holds again after racking up 28 holds (ninth in the majors) in 2024. Harvey is fully healthy after a back injury ended his season prematurely last August.

  • Mike Clevinger RP | PIT

White Sox's Mike Clevinger: Pitches in seventh inning

Clevinger recorded one out and walked two in Sunday's game against the Tigers.

Clevinger relieved starter Martin Perez with one out in the seventh inning. Clevinger retired the first batter he faced but then walked a pair before being pulled. He was expected to serve as the White Sox's primary closer, but his usage across four appearances suggests that's no longer the case. On the other hand, the team has no saves across nine games this season, so it is difficult to decipher which pitcher will see the majority of save chances.

  • Michael Tonkin RP | MIN

    Twins' Michael Tonkin: Begins throwing

Tonkin (shoulder) has started throwing bullpen sessions in extended spring training, the Minnesota Star Tribune reports.

Tonkin suffered a right shoulder strain early in spring training and began the season on the injured list. He's likely multiple weeks away from returning, but at least he's starting to make progress.

  • Brock Stewart RP | LAD

Twins' Brock Stewart: Setback to hamstring injury

Stewart recently felt tightness in his injured hamstring, and his timetable to return has been pushed back, the Minnesota Star Tribune reports.

Stewart left a spring training appearance March 15 with a left hamstring strain and began the season on the injured list. He had hoped to begin a minor-league rehab assignment last week before the setback. A timetable for his return should come into focus later this week, according to Twins President Derek Falvey.

  • Jordan Leasure RP | CHW

White Sox's Jordan Leasure: Charged with blown save

Leasure allowed one hit and one walk without recording an out to blow the save Sunday against the Tigers.

Leasure entered the game in the ninth inning with one out and the bases loaded while being tasked with protecting a two-run lead. He walked the first batter he faced before surrendering a two-run double to Spencer Torkelson to blow the save chance. It was a tough spot for Leasure, but he didn't handle the pressure situation well. Nevertheless, he could be an option in high-leverage spots having recorded six strikeouts across five appearances and 3.2 innings for a White Sox bullpen that lacks standout talent.

  • Robert Suarez RP | ATL

Padres' Robert Suarez: Grabs fourth save

Suarez struck out two in a perfect ninth inning to record his fourth save of the year in Sunday's 8-7 win over the Cubs.

Suarez was tasked with facing the 2-3-4 batters in the Cubs' order. He sent down Seiya Suzuki and Kyle Tucker quickly before coming out on top in a 10-pitch duel with Justin Turner. Suarez has now converted all four save chances and has yet to allow a hit while posting a 6:1 K:BB.
