Hodge earned the save in Friday's 1-0 win over the Reds, striking out one in a scoreless ninth inning.

Hodge put the finishing touches on Chicago's shutout victory, setting the Reds down in order to pick up his eighth save. The 23-year-old right-hander has been excellent down the stretch, allowing just two earned runs over his last 19 innings. Overall, Hodge sports a 1.93 ERA with a 0.90 WHIP and 51:19 K:BB across 42 innings this year.

Martinez (10-7) took the loss Friday against the Cubs, allowing one run on five hits over eight innings. He struck out three without issuing a walk.

Martinez was excellent again Friday, allowing a lone fifth-inning run on a Miguel Amaya sacrifice fly. However, the right-hander would wind up with his first loss since Aug. 16 as the Reds couldn't crack Jameson Taillon in an eventual 1-0 defeat. Despite the unfortunate finish, Martinez was spectacular down the stretch, allowing just four earned runs over 32.2 innings in his final five outings. He'll wrap up the year with a 3.10 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 116:18 K:BB across 142.1 innings.

The Rangers recalled Robert from Triple-A Round Rock on Friday.

Robert last saw major-league action July 20 against the Orioles, when he allowed three hits and one walk while striking out two over two scoreless innings. The 30-year-old right-hander has spent most of 2024 in Triple-A, and across 35 outings with Round Rock he's registered seven saves with a 2.70 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 52:13 K:BB across 43.1 innings. Robert will be available out of the Rangers' bullpen for the weekend series against the Angels.

The Rangers recalled Church from Triple-A Round Rock on Friday.

Church will have an opportunity to make his MLB debut out of the Rangers' bullpen this weekend against the Angels. The 23-year-old right-hander battled through a right shoulder strain for much of the season, but he returned from Round Rock's 60-day injured list in mid-August. In 11 Triple-A outings since being reinstated from the IL, Church posted a 2.87 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 19:4 K:BB over 15.2 innings.

The Giants reinstated Rodriguez (elbow) from the 15-day injured list Friday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Elbow inflammation has kept Rodriguez on the injured list since mid-August, but he'll return in time to add depth to San Francisco's bullpen for the final series of the season. Prior to his injury, the 25-year-old rookie put up a 3.93 ERA and 1.19 WHIP across 50.1 innings in the bigs, and he'll most likely work in middle relief now that he's healthy again. Mason Black was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move.

Brasier will start Friday's game against the Rockies, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.

The Dodgers will be relying on their bullpen to get them through Friday's contest at Coors Field, and they'll entrust Brasier with at least the first three batters as the opener. The 37-year-old owns a 3.33 ERA and 0.93 WHIP through 27 frames on the year, though his outing Friday will almost certainly be brief, as only two of his 28 appearances have lasted more than one inning.

Cousins (pectoral) played catch Friday, Max Goodman of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.

It's the first time Cousins has done any throwing since he landed on the 15-day injured list with a right pectoral strain nearly a week ago. The hope is that he can be ready to pitch for the Yankees at some point during the playoffs.

The Twins reinstated Funderburk (oblique) from the 60-day injured list Friday, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Funderburk hasn't pitched for the Twins since July 12 after being diagnosed with a strained left oblique. He'll return to the active roster ahead of the team's final series of the regular season. Funderburk allowed eight runs in 5.1 innings during his rehab assignment with Triple-A St. Paul, though six of those runs came in one appearance. Jair Camargo was optioned to St. Paul in a corresponding move.

The Marlins activated Baumann from the paternity list Friday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Baumann missed the series against the Twins earlier this week while welcoming a new addition to the family, but he will be back in the bullpen for the Marlins' final games of the season in Toronto. He has allowed 10 runs with a 17:4 K:BB over 12.1 innings during his time with Miami.

The Marlins placed Cronin on the 15-day injured list Friday with left knee tendinitis, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Cronin dealt with an undisclosed injury a few weeks ago, but it's unclear whether that was related to his current issue. The reliever's season will end with him having posted a 4.35 ERA and 72:25 K:BB over 70.1 innings covering 56 appearances.
