Stratton (triceps) is expected to throw off a slope in the coming days, Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports Tuesday.

Stratton has been limited to throwing on flat ground since hitting the IL on June 14, but he's feeling good enough to toss off a slope. It's unclear if he'll require a rehab assignment, but Stratton still has several checkpoints to complete before being activated.

  • Justin Topa RP | NYY

Twins' Justin Topa: Throwing bullpen sessions

Topa (knee) will throw two bullpen sessions this week, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Topa has been out all season with a small tear in the patellar tendon of his left knee, but he seems to be inching closer to a return. The reliever will need to face hitters and make a handful of rehab appearances before a clear return date can come into focus.

  • Brock Stewart RP | LAD

Twins' Brock Stewart: Facing hitters this week

Stewart (shoulder) will throw two live batting practice sessions this week, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

If he comes out of them with no concerns, a rehab assignment could be next. Stewart has been out with right shoulder tendinitis since early May but looks to be tracking toward a return around the All-Star break.

  • Caleb Kilian RP | PHI

Cubs' Caleb Kilian: Beginning rehab assignment

Kilian (shoulder) is starting a rehab assignment Tuesday at High-A South Bend, Andy Martinez of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Kilian will start up a rehab assignment Tuesday, pitching in game conditions for the first time since straining his shoulder in spring training. The 27-year-old has been progressing well, getting up to 32 pitches in a bullpen session in mid-June before facing live hitters June 25. He could be cleared for activation before August.

  • Cubs' Julian Merryweather: Facing hitters Tuesday

Merryweather (ribs) threw live batting practice Tuesday, Andy Martinez of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Merryweather has thrown a pair of bullpens and faced live batters for the first time since being placed on the IL on April 7. Manager Craig Counsell already ruled Merryweather out through the All-Star break, but the 32-year-old could be ready to go coming out of the layoff.

  • Giants' Kolton Ingram: Claimed by San Francisco

The Giants claimed Ingram off waivers from the Cardinals on Tuesday and optioned him to Double-A Richmond.

  • Riley O'Brien RP | STL

Cardinals' Riley O'Brien: Set to throw bullpen

O'Brien (forearm) will throw a bullpen in the next day or two, Lynn Worthy of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports Tuesday.

O'Brien was shut down from throwing June 23 after reporting pain in his forearm, but he's resumed a throwing program and has a bullpen session scheduled. The 29-year-old has been on the IL since March 31 due to a flexor strain in his right forearm.

    Marlins' Bryan Hoeing: Nearing reinstatement

Hoeing (hamstring) threw 2.2 innings in a rehab appearance for Triple-A Jacksonville on Saturday and was seen with the team ahead of Tuesday's game against Boston, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
