  • Jhoan Duran RP | PHI

Phillies' Jhoan Duran: Traded to Phillies

The Twins traded Duran to the Phillies on Wednesday in exchange for Eduardo Tait and Mick Abel, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.

The Phillies make a huge addition to their bullpen by acquiring Duran, who owns a 2.01 ERA and 1.18 WHIP alongside a 53:18 K:BB through 49.1 innings and has collected 16 saves so far this year. The 27-year-old flamethrower will most likely take over as Philadelphia's primary closer, moving Matt Strahm and Orion Kerkering into setup roles.

  • Jacob Webb RP | CHC

Rangers' Jacob Webb: Lands on IL with back spasms

The Rangers placed Webb on the 15-day injured list Wednesday, retroactive to Tuesday, due to back spasms.

Webb may have started feeling symptoms during his last outing Monday against the Angels, when he allowed one run on two hits while striking out four across 1.2 innings. He'll undergo further testing to determine the severity of the injury and an estimated schedule for a return, but his absence will require the Rangers to lean more on Cole Winn and Caleb Boushley for relief work. The Rangers recalled Luis Curvelo from Triple-A Round Rock in a corresponding move.

  • Luis Curvelo RP | TEX

Rangers' Luis Curvelo: Promoted from Triple-A

The Rangers recalled Curvelo from Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports.

Curvelo spent time on the Rangers' taxi squad in early June but never received a spot on the 26-man roster. He'll officially join Texas' bullpen this time, however, after logging a 3.26 ERA and 1.28 WHIP with 40 strikeouts through 38.2 innings at Round Rock. The 24-year-old righty will be making his MLB debut whenever he gets into a game.

  • Sean Hjelle RP | SF

Giants' Sean Hjelle: DFA'd by San Francisco

The Giants designated Hjelle for assignment Wednesday.

The move is part of the Giants' trade of Tyler Rogers to the Mets in exchange for Blade Tidwell, Drew Gilbert and Jose Butto. Hjelle has pitched well with Triple-A Sacramento and has a 2.90 ERA and 1.15 WHIP across 40.1 innings, but he has failed to translate that success to the majors, where he's posted a 7.80 ERA and 2.00 WHIP over 15 innings.

  • Yimi Garcia RP | TOR

Blue Jays' Yimi Garcia: Could start throwing next week

Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Wednesday that Garcia (ankle/elbow) could be a week or so away from resuming a throwing program, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Though Garcia was placed on the injured list July 5 due to a left ankle sprain, the Blue Jays recently revealed that he had also been experiencing ulnar nerve symptoms in his right elbow. He received a cortisone shot last week to address the elbow issue, and the Blue Jays are still waiting for the injection to alleviate some of the discomfort before clearing him to throw. The reliever will probably require a minor-league rehab assignment prior to being activated, so he's unlikely to be an option for the Toronto bullpen until the second half of August.

  • Caleb Ferguson RP | CIN

Mariners' Caleb Ferguson: Headed to Seattle

The Pirates traded Ferguson to the Mariners on Wednesday in exchange for Jeter Martinez, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Ferguson signed a one-year contract with the Pirates in January after spending the 2024 season with the Astros and Yankees. The 29-year-old southpaw has and 3.74 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 34:14 K:BB across 43.1 innings this season. Ferguson boasts the lowest hard-hit rate the majors (25.2 percent ) and has given up just one home run this season, and he'll give the Mariners a reliable setup man out of the bullpen.

  • Yennier Cano RP | BAL

Orioles' Yennier Cano: Implodes in sixth loss

Cano (1-6) was charged with the loss in Wednesday's 9-8 defeat to the Blue Jays, allowing five runs on four hits and no walks with no strikeouts in two-thirds of an inning.

The five runs allowed were a season high for Cano, who served up a home run for the first time since his June 18 outing in Tampa Bay. Although closer Felix Bautista (shoulder) is on the shelf and Seranthony Dominguez has been traded away, Wednesday's showing doesn't bode well for the possibility of Cano receiving future save opportunities. Since the start of May, Cano has a dreadful 7.22 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and 30:13 K:BB covering 28.2 innings.

  • Cardinals' Gordon Graceffo: Summoned from minors

The Cardinals recalled Graceffo from Triple-A Memphis on Wednesday.

Graceffo hadn't spent the required 15 days in the minors after being optioned, but he's eligible for recall because he's replacing an injured player in John King (oblique). The young righty will fill a middle-relief role for St. Louis.

  • John King RP | STL

Cardinals' John King: Lands on IL with oblique strain

The Cardinals placed King on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with a left oblique strain.

King suffered the injury during an appearance Tuesday versus the Marlins and will be shelved for at least the next two weeks. Gordon Graceffo was called up from Triple-A Memphis to replace King on the 26-man active roster and in the bullpen.

  • Luis Mey RP | CIN

Reds' Luis Mey: Back with big club

The Reds recalled Mey from Triple-A Louisville on Wednesday.

He will take the roster spot vacated by left-hander Taylor Rogers, who was traded to the Pirates on Wednesday. Mey's stay in the big leagues could be brief, as the Reds will need to free another spot on the 26-man active roster once the newly-acquired Ke'Bryan Hayes officially reports to the club.
