Sean Hjelle RP | SF
Giants' Sean Hjelle: Earns win in bulk-relief outing
Hjelle (2-1) allowed three hits and two walks while striking out five over four scoreless innings to earn the win Wednesday over the Padres.
Hjelle followed opener Ryan Walker, who tossed a scoreless first inning. This was Hjelle's first outing since his call-up from Triple-A Sacramento on Monday, and it was just his fourth scoreless effort in 11 major-league appearances on the season. The right-hander has struggled to a 7.79 ERA, 2.08 WHIP and 21:12 K:BB through 17.1 innings. The Giants appear set to continue patching the holes in their rotation with long-relief outings from pitchers like Hjelle, Tristan Beck, Keaton Winn, Sean Manaea and Jakob Junis. With so many multi-inning options available, it's unclear when Hjelle might next take the mound.

Scott McGough RP | ATH
Diamondbacks' Scott McGough: Dazzles in two-inning save
McGough picked up the save Wednesday against Milwaukee. He struck out four over two perfect innings.
McGough tallied two perfect innings Wednesday to collect his fourth save of the season while striking out four of the six batters he faced. The save was his third in the last 10 days as McGough extended his streak without an earned run to 20.1 innings (15 appearances). Though Miguel Castro and Andrew Chafin (ankle) still remain in the mix for closing duties, McGough has proven to be one of the Diamondbacks' top arms out of the bullpen and could be emerging as the preferred ninth-inning option.

Brusdar Graterol RP | LAD
Dodgers' Brusdar Graterol: Tosses two scoreless innings
Graterol walked one and struck out three over two scoreless and hitless innings as the opener in Wednesday's 2-0 win over the Angels. He did not factor in the decision.
Michael Grove was initially expected to serve as a bulk reliever, but the Dodgers changed plans on the fly to make this a full-blown bullpen game. Graterol's role as the opener this time kept him out of the running for the win, but he was strong while matching his longest outing of the season. The right-hander had given up seven runs (three earned) over his previous 7.1 innings. For the season, he has a 2.25 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 27:4 K:BB through 32 innings while frequently filling a late-inning role.

Evan Phillips RP | LAD
Dodgers' Evan Phillips: Secures ninth save
Phillips struck out one in a perfect inning to earn the save in Wednesday's 2-0 win over the Angels.
Phillips finished off the bullpen game with his fifth straight scoreless outing. He's allowed just one walk while striking out nine over that six-inning span. Phillips didn't record a save from May 13 to June 18, but he's notched two of them in his last two outings. He's up to nine saves, six holds, a 2.12 ERA, 0.74 WHIP and 36:7 K:BB through 29.2 innings as one the Dodgers' best relievers.

Tommy Kahnle RP | BOS
Yankees' Tommy Kahnle: Notches save Wednesday
Kahnle earned a save against the Mariners on Wednesday, retiring both batters he faced, including one by strikeout.
Clay Holmes has recently regained a hold on the Yankees' closer position, but he was held out Wednesday after tossing 21 pitches over 1.2 innings the previous night. That allowed Kahnle to get a save opportunity after Michael King allowed two of the first three batters he faced to reach base in the ninth, and the former got the job done by allowing a sacrifice fly before striking out Eugenio Suarez to end the contest. Kahnle didn't make his season debut until June 2 due to a biceps injury, but he's been outstanding since then, pitching 7.2 scoreless frames with a 9:1 K:BB over eight appearances. He's earned two holds and figures to be one of the team's top high-leverage relievers moving forward.

Justin Garza RP | NYM
Red Sox's Justin Garza: Serving as opener Thursday
Garza will serve as the Red Sox's opening pitcher Thursday against the Twins, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.
Garza will start on the mound Thursday and likely stay in the game for an inning or two before turning things over to Brandon Walter, who will be making his MLB debut. Garza holds a 3.46 ERA and 1.23 WHIP through 13 innings on the season and threw two scoreless frames Monday against Minnesota.

Shelby Miller RP | CHC
Dodgers' Shelby Miller: Facing extended absence
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Wednesday that Miller (neck) will be out for a minimum of 3-to-4 weeks, Matthew Moreno of DodgerBlue.com reports.
Miller has dealt with neck problems previously during his career, and his current injury appears to be the most recent instance of a long-standing issue. The 32-year-old righty has been solid this season with a 2.40 ERA and 1.00 WHIP through 30 innings, but his next appearance will have to wait until after the All-Star break.

Garrett Crochet RP | BOS
White Sox's Garrett Crochet: Out 2-to-3 weeks
Crochet received a cortisone shot Wednesday to treat the inflammation in his left shoulder, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
Early estimates put Crochet somewhere between 2-to-3 weeks out from returning to game action, making it likely he returns shortly after the All-Star break. The 24-year-old lefty already missed over a month earlier this year while recovering from Tommy John surgery.

Carl Edwards RP | DET
Nationals' Carl Edwards: Sent for MRI on shoulder
Edwards (shoulder) was sent for an MRI on his right shoulder Wednesday, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports.
Edwards landed on the 15-day injured list Wednesday afternoon with a diagnosis of right shoulder inflammation, but the imaging scans will provide a clearer overall scope of the issue. The 31-year-old had been shaping up as a strong trade candidate for the Nationals with a 3.69 ERA through 31.2 innings of setup duty. Maybe he can return sometime in July, ahead of the Aug. 1 trade deadline.

Brusdar Graterol RP | LAD
Dodgers' Brusdar Graterol: Serving as opener Wednesday
Graterol will serve as the Dodgers' opener Wednesday versus the Angels, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Michael Grove was expected to get the start, but he'll instead operate in bulk relief. This will be the first opener assignment of the year for Graterol, who has pitched to an excellent 2.40 ERA and 24:3 K:BB in 30 innings (32 appearances) out of the Dodgers' bullpen.
