  • Twins' Ronny Henriquez: Receives first MLB call-up

The Twins recalled Henriquez from Triple-A St. Paul on Sunday.

Henriquez, whom the Twins acquired in March in the deal that sent catcher Mitch Garver to the Rangers, will reach the big leagues for the first time in his career. The 22-year-old right-hander split time between the rotation and bullpen at Triple-A this season, delivering a 5.66 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 106:33 K:BB across 95.1 innings over his 24 appearances (14 starts). He'll likely serve as a long-relief option for Minnesota.

  • David Bednar RP | NYY

Pirates' David Bednar: Final rehab outing set

Bednar (back) will continue his rehab assignment with Triple-A Indianapolis on Monday in what is likely to be his final outing before being activated from the 15-day injured list, Justice delos Santos of MLB.com reports.

The right-hander began the rehab assignment last week, and Monday will be his third appearance with Indianapolis. Bednar has been sidelined by the back injury since late July, but he's on the cusp of rejoining the Pirates for the final stretch of the season. He's 17-for-21 in save chances with a 2.70 ERA this year, and he figures to reclaim the closer role from Wil Crowe once reinstated.

  • Luis Frias RP | CLE

Diamondbacks' Luis Frias: Recalled by Arizona

Frias was recalled from Triple-A Reno on Sunday.

The 24-year-old was demoted to Reno in early September but will rejoin the big-league club with Keynan Middleton (toe) headed to the injured list. Frias allowed seven earned runs over 5.2 innings during his previous stint in the majors, though he didn't allow any runs in five of his six outings.

  • Rockies' Gavin Hollowell: Contract selected by Colorado

Hollowell had his contract selected by the Rockies on Sunday.

Hollowell has been with Double-A Hartford all season and will now receive his first taste of the big leagues. The 24-year-old has appeared in 42 games for the Yard Goats this year and has a 3.14 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 64:14 K:BB across 48.2 innings.

  • Alex Colome RP | CHW

Rockies' Alex Colome: Lands on bereavement list

Colome (personal) was placed on the bereavement list Sunday.

Colome hasn't pitched since last Sunday when he surrendered three earned runs over one-third of an inning, and he'll now step away from the team for a few days for personal reasons. Gavin Hollowell will join the big-league roster in a corresponding move.

  • Bryan Hoeing RP | SD

Marlins' Bryan Hoeing: Rejoins big club

Hoeing was recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville on Sunday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Hoeing was demoted last week after he served as the 29th man for a doubleheader, and he'll return to the big-league club ahead of Sunday's series finale in Washington. The 25-year-old has appeared in three games this year and has given up 12 earned runs with a 4:3 K:BB over seven innings.

  • Cole Sulser RP | TB

Marlins' Cole Sulser: Demoted to minors

Sulser was optioned to Triple-A Jacksonville on Sunday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Sulser has two saves and six holds this season, but he'll head to the minors Sunday with 10 runs allowed in his past 11 outings. Overall this year he has a 5.29 ERA, 1.62 WHIP and 38:16 K:BB across 34 innings.

  • Yankees' Aroldis Chapman: Works scoreless inning in return

Chapman pitched a scoreless inning against the Brewers on Saturday, allowing one walk and striking out one batter.

Chapman missed nearly a month due to a leg infection, but he was reinstated Friday and made his return to the mound Saturday. The veteran reliever was used in a low-leverage situation in the seventh inning, so it appears that the Yankees will ease him back before potentially giving him high-leverage work (though likely not as a closer, since Clay Holmes has taken hold of that role). Though Chapman didn't allow any runs in his return, he threw only nine of 17 pitches for strikes and walked a batter. Control has been been a major issue for Chapman this season -- his 6.5 K/9 is on pace to be his worst mark since 2011 and is fifth-worst among MLB pitchers who have thrown at least 30 innings.

  • Red Sox's Franklin German: Rough debut

German allowed four runs on two hits and two walks without retiring a batter in Saturday's 9-0 loss to the Royals.

German, whose contract was selected and who was making his MLB debut, had been scheduled to pitch a full inning, per Ian Browne of MLB.com, but those plans were scrapped quickly. The Royals went walk, single, walk, single against the 24-year-old right-hander. Boston manager Alex Cora made note that Kansas City hitters didn't offer at German's secondary pitches, describing them as "away or non-competitive," so the staff will take a look at that and attempt to figure out how to make him better.

  • Joe Kelly RP | LAD

White Sox's Joe Kelly: To family medical list

Kelly was placed on the family medical leave list Sunday.

Tanner Banks will take Kelly's place in the bullpen in advance of Sunday's bullpen game against the Tigers. Kelly has a five-appearance scoreless streak with nine strikeouts in his last 4.2 innings.
