  • Nick Pivetta SP | SD

Red Sox's Nick Pivetta: Earns fourth consecutive win

Pivetta (4-4) allowed a run on five hits and three walks while striking out five in six innings to earn the win over the Orioles on Sunday.

Pivetta posted a 10.03 ERA over his first three starts in 2022, but he's turned things around recently and has logged five consecutive quality starts. The right-hander has been rewarded with wins in his last four outings, and he's logged a 1.59 ERA, 30:6 K:BB and 0.76 WHIP in 34 innings over his last five starts. Pivetta tentatively lines up to make his next start on the road against Oakland on Saturday.

  • Orioles' Bruce Zimmermann: Gives up six runs Sunday

Zimmermann (2-3) allowed six runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out two in four innings to take the loss in Sunday's game against the Red Sox.

Zimmermann struggled against the long ball in his last start by giving up four home runs, and he allowed five homers over the first four innings of Sunday's blowout loss. The southpaw was relatively effective at limiting run production early in the year, as he posted a 2.72 ERA in 36.1 innings over his first seven starts of the season. However, he's given up at least four runs in each of his last three starts while recording an 8.80 ERA in 15.1 innings during that time. Zimmermann projects to make his next start at home against the Guardians on Friday.

  • Kenley Jansen RP | DET

Braves' Kenley Jansen: Notches 12th save

Jansen issued one walk in a scoreless inning Sunday, striking out two and earning a save over the Marlins.

Jansen issued a one-out walk to Jesus Aguilar but quickly finished the game by recording back-to-back strikeouts against Jon Berti and Jazz Chisholm. He's now converted 12 of his 14 save opportunities this season with a 3.48 ERA through 20.2 frames. Jansen has turned in two straight scoreless appearances after coughing up four runs over his previous three outings.

  • Drew Smith RP | WAS

    Mets' Drew Smith: X-rays negative

Smith was diagnosed with a dislocated right pinky finger after exiting Sunday's game against the Phillies, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Smith attempted to barehand a comebacker in the top of the seventh inning Sunday, and he immediately exited the game with a trainer. The right-hander's X-rays didn't reveal a fracture, and he's considered day-to-day ahead of Monday's series opener against the Nationals.

  • Tanner Rainey RP | DET

Nationals' Tanner Rainey: Secures fifth save

Rainey retired all five batters he faced in Sunday's win over Colorado. He struck out three and earned a save.

The 29-year-old entered the game with one out in the eighth inning after Kyle Finnegan allowed a pair of runs in the frame. Rainey needed just 18 pitches (16 strikes) to finish off the game and earn his fifth save of the year. Rainey lowered his season ERA to 2.35, and he's currently on a 4.2-inning scoreless streak after he was tagged with six runs (four earned) in his previous three appearances.

  • Jose Quijada RP | LAA

Angels' Jose Quijada: Takes loss in return

Quijada (0-1) took the loss Sunday versus the Blue Jays. He allowed a run on two hits and a walk with one strikeout in two-thirds of an inning.

Quijada got the last two outs of the eighth inning, but a Lourdes Gurriel RBI double broke a 10-10 tie, and the Angels couldn't catch up again. This was Quijada's second appearance of the year after he was sidelined by an oblique injury for seven weeks. He'll likely see mostly low-leverage assignments, though he did log four holds in 26 outings in 2021 while posting a 4.56 ERA and 1.36 WHIP.

  • Drew Smith RP | WAS

Mets' Drew Smith: Exits with injury

Smith exited Sunday's game against the Phillies in the top of the seventh inning due to an apparent right finger injury, David Lennon of Newsday reports.

Smith entered Sunday's matchup in the top of the seventh inning and retired the first two batters he faced, but he attempted to barehand a comebacker with two outs and was immediately removed from the game. The severity of his injury isn't yet clear.

  • Dany Jimenez RP | ATL

Athletics' Dany Jimenez: Blows save, snags win

Jimenez (2-2) allowed a run on no hits and one walk in one inning, blowing a save but earning the win Sunday versus the Rangers.

Jimenez walked Marcus Semien, who stole second, moved to third on a groundout and scored the game-tying run on a wild pitch. Luckily for Jimenez, the Athletics responded in the bottom of the ninth with a walkoff single from Jed Lowrie. This was Jimenez's first blown save in 11 opportunities this year, as he's been excellent while holding onto the closer role for the Athletics. He's posted a 2.25 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 21:8 K:BB across 20 innings.

  • Jimmy Herget RP | COL

Angels' Jimmy Herget: Managing fingernail issue

Herget wasn't available to pitch in Sunday's loss to the Blue Jays due to a fingernail issue, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Herget threw two scoreless innings during Friday's series opener against Toronto, but he wasn't available out of the bullpen to close out the series. It's not yet clear whether he'll be available for Tuesday's matchup against the Yankees.

  • Guardians' Konnor Pilkington: Stays in rotation

Pilkington is scheduled to start Wednesday's game against the Royals in Cleveland.

Despite failing to escape the fourth inning while giving up three earned runs on seven hits and four walks in his second start of the season with the Guardians on Thursday in Detroit, Pilkington will remain in the rotation for at least one more turn while Aaron Civale (glute) is on the 15-day injured list. Even with a home start against a weak Kansas City offense, Pilkington doesn't make for a comfortable streaming option outside of AL-only leagues.
