  • Will Vest RP | DET

Tigers' Will Vest: Tests positive for COVID-19

Vest was placed on the injured list Friday after he tested positive for COVID-19, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

It seemed likely that Vest was in the league's COVID-19 protocols after he was placed on the injured list without a designation Friday. Since he's tested positive for the virus he'll need to clear the league's protocols before he's eligible to rejoin the team.

  • Royals' Ronald Bolanos: Moves to injured list

Bolanos (undisclosed) was placed on the injured list Friday without an injury designation.

Kansas City also didn't specify which list he was placed on, which often means the player landed on the COVID-19 IL. Assuming that's the case, Bolanos will be unavailable until he clears the league's testing protocols.

  • Zach Logue RP | LAD

Athletics' Zach Logue: Recalled by Oakland

Logue was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday, Melissa Lockard of The Athletic reports.

The 26-year-old was sent down by the Athletics on Wednesday, but he'll rejoin the big-league club after Daulton Jefferies (arm) was placed on the 15-day injured list Friday. Logue last pitched Monday against the Twins and is a strong candidate to fill in as a starter while Jefferies is sidelined. Logue has posted a 2.04 ERA and 1.19 WHIP in 17.2 innings over four appearances (three starts) in the majors this year.

  • Royals' Carlos Hernandez: Demoted to Triple-A

Hernandez was optioned to Triple-A Omaha on Friday.

The right-hander earned a spot in Kansas City's Opening Day rotation, but he's struggled through seven starts with a 9.10 ERA, 2.16 WHIP and 16:20 K:BB over 29.2 innings. Hernandez surrendered three runs over three innings Thursday against the White Sox, which was apparently the final straw. The 25-year-old could receive another look in the rotation later this season, but for now he'll attempt to straighten things out with Omaha. Brady Singer is the likely candidate to step into Hernandez's spot in the rotation.

  • Kirby Snead RP | SEA

Athletics' Kirby Snead: Sent down Friday

Snead was optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday, Melissa Lockard of The Athletic reports.

Snead picked up four holds in April, but he struggled over six appearances since the start of May, posting a 15.19 ERA and 3.38 WHIP in 5.1 innings. The southpaw will attempt to sort things out in the minors, while Jacob Lemoine was recalled by the Athletics to take on a bullpen role.

  • Josh Hader RP | HOU

Brewers' Josh Hader: Back with team

Hader (personal) has rejoined the Brewers and is available for Friday's game against the Nationals, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Hader was unavailable earlier this week while tending to a family situation but is now back and ready for Friday's series opener. The left-hander has converted all 14 save opportunities and has a 0.53 WHIP and 21:5 K:BB over 13.1 scoreless innings.

  • Trevor Kelley RP | SEA

Brewers' Trevor Kelley: Returns to Triple-A

Kelley was optioned to Triple-A Nashville on Friday.

Kelley was promoted from Nashville earlier this week and picked up the win Wednesday in his MLB debut after allowing one unearned run on one hit with a strikeout and zero walks. He's been electric at the Triple-A level this season with a 0.69 ERA and 17:4 K:BB across 13 innings.

  • Wyatt Mills RP | WAS

Mariners' Wyatt Mills: Sent to Triple-A

Mills was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma on Friday.

Mills had a 1.17 ERA over his first six appearances for Seattle, but he'll head to the minors after giving up three runs in his past two outings. The 27-year-old could rejoin the big-league bullpen later in the campaign.

  • Mariners' Anthony Misiewicz: Rare stumble Thursday

Misiewicz allowed two earned runs on two hits over two-thirds of an inning in a loss to the Red Sox on Thursday. He struck out one.

The left-hander had allowed just a single earned run over his previous 10 appearances before Thursday's stumble, so there's certainly a likelihood the rocky appearance will prove to be an outlier. Misiewicz still carries a solid 3.48 ERA and 1.16 WHIP, and he's contributed three holds in his 13 trips to the mound.

  • Joel Kuhnel RP | SF

Reds' Joel Kuhnel: Placed on restricted list

Kuhnel (undisclosed) was placed on the restricted list ahead of Friday's series opener in Toronto.

It appears Kuhnel is unvaccinated and unable to travel to Canada for the three-game set this weekend, resulting in his move to the restricted list. He should be back with the team for Monday's series opener versus the Cubs in Cincinnati.
