Nick Pivetta RP | SD
Padres' Nick Pivetta: Throws in bridge league game in Arizona
Manager Craig Stammen said that Pivetta (forearm) threw two innings in a bridge league game Thursday at the Padres' spring training complex in Arizona, 97.3 The Fan San Diego reports.
Stammen noted that Pivetta "felt great" during the outing and will throw a bullpen session before the Padres decide when the right-hander will make his next appearance in a game, either at the complex in Arizona or as part of a minor-league rehab assignment. Pivetta -- who has been on the shelf since April 14 due to a right forearm strain -- kicked off a rehab assignment at Single-A Lake Elsinore on Aug. 4 but tossed just 14 pitches before experiencing renewed tightness in his elbow. Though Pivetta is pitching in games again, he'll still need some time to build back up and is no longer looking likely to make it back from the 60-day injured list until September.

Nate Pearson RP | KC
Royals' Nate Pearson: Earns third save of season
Pearson earned the save Friday against the Tigers after pitching a scoreless ninth inning, allowing a hit and a walk while striking out one.
Pearson was handed a three-run lead in the ninth and worked around some late traffic to secure Kansas City's sixth consecutive victory. The right-hander allowed two runners to reach but stranded both, striking out Dillon Dingler to end the game and collect his third save of the season. Pearson owns a 2.56 ERA and has worked his way into high-leverage situations for the Royals. Since joining Kansas City on July 22, Pearson has posted a 0.77 ERA and 0.86 WHIP with a 10:5 K:BB across 11.2 innings, recording two holds and going 2-for-3 in save opportunities.

Grant Taylor RP | CHW
White Sox's Grant Taylor: Earns win in relief Friday
Taylor (5-2) walked one and struck out two over a hitless and scoreless ninth inning to earn the win in Friday's 6-4 victory over the Mets.
Taylor entered with the game tied 4-4 and worked around a leadoff walk to keep New York off the board, setting the stage for Jake Rogers' walk-off homer in the bottom of the ninth. The right-hander needed 15 pitches (10 strikes) to complete the frame and lowered his ERA to 2.01. Taylor remains one of Chicago's primary late-inning arms, and over his last eight outings, he has one win and three holds while going 2-for-4 in save chances and posting a 0.94 WHIP and 11:4 K:BB.

Jefry Yan RP | NYM
Mets' Jefry Yan: Serves up walk-off homer
Yan (1-1) took the loss Friday against the White Sox after allowing two runs on one hit and one walk over two-thirds of an inning. He did not record a strikeout.
Yan entered for the ninth inning of a 4-4 game, and after issuing a leadoff walk, he retired two batters quickly before things unraveled. Jake Rogers launched a two-run homer to center field to end the game. It was the first loss of the season for Yan, who saw his ERA climb to 4.26. The left-hander, who made his MLB debut earlier this month, has given up three runs in his first 6.1 innings of big-league work while posting a 7:6 K:BB.

Sean Manaea RP | NYM
Mets' Sean Manaea: Unravels in sixth inning
Manaea didn't factor in the decision Friday against the White Sox, allowing four runs on five hits and two walks while striking out four over six innings.
Manaea cruised through five scoreless innings with a 4-0 lead before Chicago erased it in dramatic fashion. After a leadoff walk to Munetaka Murakami, the left-hander surrendered three consecutive home runs to Miguel Vargas, Randal Grichuk and Colson Montgomery to tie the game. Manaea still completed six innings, but he's now allowed four runs in consecutive starts, raising his ERA to 4.31. He's completed at least six frames in six straight outings, though Friday's sudden collapse spoiled what had been an excellent performance. He's scheduled to make his next start at home against the Brewers.

Ryan Zeferjahn RP | CHC
Cubs' Ryan Zeferjahn: Takes first loss with new team
Zeferjahn (4-4) allowed an unearned run on a hit and a walk while retiring two batters to take the loss in Friday's 6-5 extra-inning defeat to the Mariners.
Zeferjahn was tasked with working the bottom of the 10th inning in a 5-5 game, and he ended up serving up a walk-off single to Leo Rivas. It was the righty's first loss since he joined the Cubs at the trade deadline, with his last defeat coming back in May when he was with the Angels. Zeferjahn has struggled a bit with his new team, as he now has a 5.87 ERA and 1.96 WHIP across 7.2 innings in eight appearances. He does at least have a strong 12.9 K/9 in a Chicago uniform.

David Bednar RP | NYY
Yankees' David Bednar: Secures save No. 30
Bednar gave up a hit and struck out one in a scoreless ninth inning Friday to record his 30th save of the season in a 3-1 win over the Blue Jays.
The veteran closer continues to dominate in his first full season with the Yankees. Since the beginning of June, Bednar has converted 18 of 19 save chances while delivering a 0.81 ERA, 0.57 WHIP and 36:7 K:BB over 33.1 innings. He's the third AL pitcher to reach the 30-save plateau this season, behind the Rays' Bryan Baker (36) and the Guardians' Cade Smith (32).

Spencer Arrighetti RP | TOR
Blue Jays' Spencer Arrighetti: Shaky in Jays debut
Arrighetti (7-6) took the loss Friday, giving up three runs on three hits and two walks over 3.1 innings of relief as the Blue Jays fell 3-1 to the Yankees. He struck out four.
Mason Fluharty couldn't get through the first inning as the opener, walking two batters in two-thirds of an inning, so Arrighetti was put in a tough spot right away as the bulk reliever in his Blue Jays debut. While the former Astro was able to escape that jam by striking out George Lombard, he ran into trouble of his own in the second after a leadoff walk. Arrighetti got lifted after 61 pitches (37 strikes), a small step up in workload from his final rehab start Sunday, but even after he gets fully stretched out he'll be tough to rely upon in fantasy as he pitches through a nerve issue in his right foot. He's set to make his next outing, either as a bulk reliever or traditional starter, at home next week against the Royals.

Andres Munoz RP | SEA
Mariners' Andres Munoz: Takes eighth blown save
Munoz allowed one run on one hit and struck out two without walking a batter over one inning, taking a blown save in Friday's 6-5 extra-inning win over the Cubs.
Munoz served up the game-tying home run to Alex Bregman in the ninth inning. By all accounts, it's been a bumpy August for Munoz, who has given up seven runs (six earned) over nine innings this month while converting just four of seven save chances. On the year, he's 23-for-31 in save conversions while pitching to a 4.37 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 75:18 K:BB through 47.1 innings. Munoz doesn't appear to be in any obvious danger of losing the closing job yet, but it would be a positive sign if he could string a few scoreless outings together.

Tanner Gordon RP | COL
Rockies' Tanner Gordon: Hit around in loss
Gordon (0-4) took the loss against the Guardians on Friday, allowing five runs on nine hits and two walks with five strikeouts over 5.1 innings.
Gordon re-entered the rotation for the first time since July 10 and opened with two quick innings before yielding at least one run in each frame that followed. The 28-year-old did throw a strong 62 of 82 pitches for strikes, but he surrendered one homer, and the Guardians made him pay with runners on base. He owns a 5.75 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 64:15 K:BB across 76.2 innings this season and lines up for a road matchup with the Nationals next week.
