  • Mets' Huascar Brazoban: Opening second game of twin bill

Brazoban will serve as the Mets' opening pitcher for the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader versus the Brewers, Manny Gomez of NJ.com reports.

Brazoban isn't expected to cover more than an inning or two before giving way to right-hander Blade Tidwell, who was initially scheduled to start but will instead work in bulk relief. The Mets have used Brazoban as an opener on two other occasions this season.

  • Matt Bowman RP | MIN

Orioles' Matt Bowman: DFA'd again by Orioles

The Orioles designated Bowman for assignment Wednesday.

Bowman was just added to the roster Sunday and was bludgeoned for four runs on six hits and one walk over 1.2 innings in his lone appearance. He's already accepted three outright assignments by the Orioles since March and could do so again, if he clears waivers.

  • Keegan Akin RP | BAL

Orioles' Keegan Akin: To IL with shoulder inflammation

The Orioles placed Akin on the 15-day injured list Wednesday due to left shoulder inflammation.

It's unclear when the injury popped up, but Akin has struggled lately, being scored upon in three of his last four appearances. He will be eligible for activation at the start of the second half, but the Orioles haven't divulged a return timetable for the reliever.

  • Corbin Martin RP | CHC

Orioles' Corbin Martin: Gets first look in majors since '22

The Orioles selected Martin's contract from Triple-A Norfolk on Wednesday.

Martin is back in the big leagues for the first time since 2022, when he made seven appearances (two starts) for Arizona. Since undergoing surgery in March 2023 to repair a right lat tendon tear and missing that entire season, Martin has made the full-time move to the bullpen. He owns a 5.29 ERA in 29 appearances at Norfolk this season but was sharp throughout June, permitting just one earned run on three hits and four walks while striking out eight over 10 innings.

  • Yennier Cano RP | BAL

Orioles' Yennier Cano: Back in big-league bullpen

The Orioles recalled Cano from Triple-A Norfolk on Wednesday.

Cano's stint back in the minors was brief, with the reliever allowing one run with two strikeouts over two innings of work for the Tides. He's posted a 4.73 ERA with the Orioles this season, though that's come with a much more promising 31:8 K:BB over 26.2 innings. Cano had been demoted to a low-leverage relief role before being sent down, and he'll likely return to that role for now.

  • Clayton Beeter RP | WAS

Yankees' Clayton Beeter: Up with big club

The Yankees recalled Beeter from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday.

Beeter has offered a mixed bag at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre after returning from a shoulder injury, posting a 1.02 ERA with 29 strikeouts over 17.2 innings but also issuing 14 walks. He has a chance to work his way into high-leverage spots for the Yankees, but Beeter is likely to be used earlier in games initially.

  • Kevin Herget RP | NYM

Braves' Kevin Herget: Demoted to Triple-A

Atlanta optioned Herget to Triple-A Gwinnett on Wednesday.

Herget will give up his spot in the Atlanta bullpen to right-hander Daysbel Hernandez (forearm), who was reinstated from the injured list. After being recalled from Gwinnett on Saturday, Herget tossed a scoreless inning in his lone appearance for Atlanta in Tuesday's game against the Angels before being moved off the 26-man active roster.

  • Braves' Daysbel Hernandez: Back from injured list

Atlanta activated Hernandez (forearm) from the 15-day injured list Wednesday.

Hernandez missed the last month of action with right forearm inflammation but is ready to roll after making one scoreless rehab appearance. The righty was handling a high-leverage role before getting hurt but could be eased back into the late innings.

  • Austin Cox RP | ATL

Braves' Austin Cox: Brought up from Triple-A

Atlanta recalled Cox from Triple-A Gwinnett on Wednesday.

Cox was optioned to Gwinnett less than a week ago, but he'll be eligible to rejoin the big club because Atlanta placed right-hander Spencer Schwellenbach (elbow) on the 15-day injured list in a corresponding move. The 28-year-old will provide manager Brian Snitker with a fourth left-handed option in the bullpen behind Dylan Lee, Aaron Bummer and Dylan Dodd.

  • Blue Jays' Mason Fluharty: Dispatched to Triple-A

The Blue Jays optioned Fluharty to Triple-A Buffalo on Wednesday.

He'll lose his spot on the 26-man active roster and in the Toronto bullpen with right-hander Yimi Garcia (shoulder) returning from the 15-day injured list. After getting his first big-league call-up March 30, Fluharty notched three wins and four holds while registering a 5.56 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 38:16 K:BB over 34 innings.
