Whitlock was removed from Tuesday's game against the Guardians due to left oblique tightness, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

Whitlock had given up two runs across four innings before Joely Rodriguez relieved him out of the bullpen. The severity of his injury remains unknown, but the right-hander will presumably undergo imaging to determine whether or not he'll be required to miss his next turn through the rotation.

Gray didn't factor in the decision Tuesday against the Tigers after he allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits and three walks over seven innings. He struck out seven.

The right-hander recorded 17 swinging strikes on 97 pitches as he delivered his first quality start of the campaign. Gray lasted just 7.1 frames and allowed seven runs (five earned) in his first two outings, but he's pitched well in his past two starts with a 1.64 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 16:4 K:BB over 11 innings. He's still in search of his first win of the year and tentatively lines up for a home matchup with the Mariners early next week.

Mize didn't factor in the decision Tuesday against the Rangers after he struck out six and allowed two runs on five hits and no walks over six innings.

It was an impressive performance from Mize, who kept the defending champs scoreless until the fifth inning, when Texas scratched across two runs on four hits. The right-hander generated just seven swinging strikes but still produced a season-high six strikeouts. After missing all of last season while recovering from Tommy John and back surgeries, Mize appears to have settled in through three starts with a 4.11 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 12:3 K:BB in 15.1 innings.

Singer and the Royals won't play the White Sox on Tuesday since the game was postponed due to rain.

The game will be made up via a straight doubleheader Wednesday, and Singer is slated to start the first of the two contests. The right-hander is off to a strong start this season with a 0.98 ERA, 0.76 WHIP and 18:4 K:BB across 18.1 innings.

Cannon and the White Sox won't play against the Royals on Tuesday since the game was postponed due to rain.

Cannon had his contract selected earlier Tuesday and was poised to make his MLB debut, but Mother Nature had other ideas. The game will be made up via a straight doubleheader Wednesday, and Cannon will start the earlier of the two games.

The Orioles placed Wells on the 15-day injured list with right elbow inflammation.

The assignment to the 15-day injured list is retroactive to April 13. Wells allowed four runs on six hits and a walk over four innings with three strikeouts in his last outing Friday. It was his second loss of the season as he fell to 0-2. The 29-year-old was supposed to start Wednesday, so the Orioles will have to make another move or fill in the spot with someone on the roster.

The White Sox designated Cousin for assignment Tuesday.

Cousin was sent to Double-A Birmingham to begin the 2024 season, but he has yet to make his first appearance of the year. The 26-year-old righty will likely clear waivers and remain in the Barons' rotation for most of the season.

Urquidy (forearm) threw off the front slope of the mound Tuesday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

It's a big step as Urquidy continues to work his way back from a right forearm strain. He will progress to facing hitters and eventually go out on a rehab assignment, although it's not clear yet when that might happen. A Houston rotation that's been hit hard by injury could use Urquidy, but the team won't rush the right-hander.

Cole (elbow) is expected to throw from up to 75 feet Tuesday, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Cole has been playing catch for about a week, throwing from 60 feet on flat ground. He didn't throw Monday but is slated to resume play catch Tuesday, moving out an additional 15 feet. The reigning AL Cy Young Award winner appears to be making steady progress in his recovery from nerve irritation and edema in his right elbow. He's eligible to come off the 60-day IL in late May.

Whitley was recalled from Triple-A Sugar Land by the Astros on Tuesday.

It's the first stint in the big leagues for Whitley, who has permitted four runs with a 4:2 K:BB over three innings for Sugar Land this season. The former top prospect has moved to relief this season following years of injuries and control problems.
