Rays manager Kevin Cash said Tuesday that McClanahan (forearm) is "highly unlikely" to pitch again this season, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

McClanahan landed on the 15-day injured list last week due to left forearm tightness and he has since visited a number of specialists in an attempt to get to the root of the issue. Cash told reporters that surgery is a possibility for the 26-year-old ace, who had pitched to an 11-2 record, 3.29 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 121:41 K:BB through 115 innings (21 starts) this season. It's the biggest blow yet to a Tampa Bay pitching staff that has been ravaged by injuries to key starters.

Detroit recalled Faedo from Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday.

Faedo looks poised to slot into the Tigers' starting rotation Wednesday against the Twins. The 27-year-old right-hander has struggled to a 5.80 ERA in 35.2 innings (seven starts) this season at the major-league level and makes for a risky fantasy streaming option.

Detroit optioned Wentz to Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday.

Wentz was lit up for eight earned runs over just three innings in a spot start Monday versus the Twins. The 25-year-old left-hander carries a 7.03 ERA in 79.1 total innings of work this season at the major-league level.

Turnbull (neck) is scheduled to make his fourth rehab start Wednesday with Triple-A Toledo, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Turnbull will be making his second straight appearance with Toledo after he made his first two rehab starts at High-A West Michigan. In his first outing at Triple-A on Friday, Turnbull covered 3.1 innings and tossed 56 pitches while giving up two earned runs on three hits and one walk. After Wednesday's outing, Turnbull should be stretched out enough for something close to a normal starter's workload, but it's unclear if the Tigers will make room for him in the rotation. Before landing on the injured list in May with the neck injury, Turnbull compiled a 7.26 ERA and 1.68 WHIP in his seven starts with Detroit.

Seattle placed Woo on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with right forearm inflammation.

The severity of the issue is unclear, but Woo will miss at least a couple of turns through the rotation. The 23-year-old right-hander has turned in a 4.75 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 60:17 K:BB in his first 11 major-league starts covering 55 innings. Emerson Hancock is likely to be called up from Double-A Arkansas to replace Woo in the rotation on Wednesday versus the Padres.

The Athletics claimed Watkins off waivers from the Astros on Tuesday, Jessica Kleinschmidt of The Comeback reports.

Watkins had been designated for assignment by Houston and will remain in the AL West, although he'll report to Triple-A Las Vegas for the time being. The 30-year-old has posted an 8.35 over 14 appearances -- 11 starts -- at the Triple-A level this season.

The Mariners are expected to call Hancock up from Double-A Arkansas on Wednesday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.

According to Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times, Hancock's promotion isn't expected to be made official until shortly before the Mariners' series finale with the Padres on Wednesday, when the right-hander will likely start in what would be his MLB debut. Bryan Woo had been lined up to take the hill Wednesday, so he could have his turn in the rotation skipped, or the Mariners may go with a six-man setup for a while. Hancock, 24, has submitted a 4.32 ERA and 107:38 K:BB over 98 innings covering 20 starts with Arkansas this season. He holds a 1.44 ERA and 26:4 K:BB across 25 frames in his last four outings, and the Mariners appear ready to see if Hancock can maintain his recent form in the big leagues as they look to continue a hot streak of their own.

Rodon (hamstring) will continue to throw on flat ground in hopes that he will need only a minimum 15-day stay on the injured list, Greg Joyce of the New York Post reports.

Rodon is dealing with a low-grade left hamstring strain and wanted to pitch through the injury, according to Yankees manager Aaron Boone. However, the team decided to exercise caution and go ahead and IL him. Rodon has struggled mightily this season, posting a 7.33 ERA with 25:18 K:BB in 27 innings since coming back from forearm and back injuries.

Glasnow (back) will visit with team specialist Dr. Tom Tolli on Tuesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Glasnow had to be scratched from his scheduled start Sunday against the Tigers due to back spasms, and while the Rays aren't concerned about it being a long-term issue, more will be known following Tuesday's exam. The hope is that the big right-hander will be ready to take the ball as soon as this week versus the Cardinals.

McClanahan (forearm) visited with specialist Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles on Monday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

This was after he had an MRI and was examined by team orthopedist Dr. Koco Eaton last Thursday. McClanahan will be seen by another specialist, Dr. Keith Meister, next week as he and the Rays try to gain clarity on the pitcher's left forearm injury. Presumably, an update on McClanahan's long-term prognosis will be available following next week's exam. The southpaw has posted a 6.65 ERA in his last five starts, dealing with a back issue and now a forearm problem over that span.
