Flaherty (general soreness) will start for the Orioles on Sunday versus the Rockies, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

The right-hander has been trending in that direction and manager Brandon Hyde confirmed after Saturday's victory that Flaherty is ready to go for Sunday. He had to be scratched from his previously scheduled start due to general soreness, with the pitcher saying only that he had trouble bouncing back from his prior outing. Flaherty has been up-and-down in three starts since joining the Orioles, getting tagged for seven runs over just three innings his last time out.

Schmidt (8-8) took the loss Saturday, allowing three runs (one earned) on six hits over 6.2 innings against the Rays. He struck out five without issuing a walk.

Two of the three runs charged to Schmidt were unearned and the Yankees' offense didn't provide any run support, resulting in an unfortunate loss for the 27-year-old. Aside from a bad outing against Atlanta on Aug. 14, Schmidt has been impressive since the All-Star break, posting a 4-1 record with a 3.20 ERA and 0.97 WHIP across 39.1 innings in his other seven second-half starts. The right-handed hurler is currently slated to face Detroit on the road next week.

Glasnow (7-4) earned the win Saturday, allowing one hit and two walks over six scoreless innings against the Yankees. He struck out four.

The only hit Glasnow allowed was a sixth-inning single, as the 30-year-old righty needed just 85 pitches to secure a quality start and win. He now owns a 5-1 record in seven starts since the All-Star break, posting a 2.20 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 50:11 K:BB across 45 innings during that span. Glasnow is projected to make a road start against Cleveland next weekend.

Marsh will start for the Royals on Sunday in Seattle, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Marsh has been used more as a bulk reliever lately, but he won't be following an opener this time. The left-hander will be tasked with holding down a Mariners lineup that hit seven home runs and scored 15 runs Saturday. Marsh has surrendered 12 homers in just 43.2 innings this season.

The Orioles haven't determined whether Means (elbow) will be a starter or a reliever once he returns from the injured list, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Means has been stretching out while on a rehab assignment, most recently tossing 4.1 innings for Triple-A Norfolk in his latest start Friday as he works his way back from Tommy John surgery. Despite being in the midst of the buildup process, the Orioles apparently don't view him as a lock to join the big-league rotation down the stretch. The Orioles suddenly have a big hole to fill at the back end of the bullpen with closer Felix Bautista going down with an elbow injury, though Means doesn't have the strikeout stuff to be a natural fit in the late innings.

Flaherty was originally expected to start Wednesday against Toronto but wound up being scratched with general soreness. He'll wind up missing less than one full turn through the rotation. Flaherty gave up seven runs in three innings against the Padres in his previous outing, but his soreness may have played a part in those poor numbers.

Ryan (groin) was activated off the 15-day injured list Saturday ahead of his scheduled start against the Rangers.

Ryan wound up missing most of the month of August while recovering from a groin strain, but he's ready to go after striking out seven and allowing just one run on one hit and a pair of walks in a four-inning rehab start last Sunday. Prior to the injury, Ryan struggled to an 8.63 ERA and 1.79 WHIP over his last seven starts, a far cry from the 2.98 ERA and 0.91 WHIP he managed across his first 15 outings. Jordan Balazovic was optioned to clear space for Ryan's return.

The Guardians optioned Gaddis to Triple-A Columbus on Friday.

Gaddis was sent back to the minors one day after being called up to serve as the 27th man for the Guardians' doubleheader with the Dodgers. The 25-year-old worked 4.2 innings out of the bullpen in Thursday's 9-3 loss, giving up two earned runs on seven hits and two walks while failing to record a strikeout.

Canning is listed as the Angels' probable starter for Sunday's game against the Mets at Citi Field.

Upon returning from the injured list Aug. 13, Canning has made both of his appearances out of the bullpen, covering 3.2 innings Aug. 14 and 3.1 innings Aug. 19. As a result of those extended relief outings, Canning should be reasonably stretched out for starting duty as he formally rejoins the rotation. The right-hander will likely stick in the rotation for the rest of the season after the Angels recently announced that two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani won't pitch again in 2023 due to a torn UCL in his right elbow.

Quantrill (shoulder) will make a fourth and final rehab start Saturday with Triple-A Columbus before being reinstated from the 15-day injured list, MLB.com reports.

Though Quantrill looks to be just about fully stretched out for starting duty after he built up to 5.1 innings and 84 pitches his last time out for Columbus on Aug. 20, both he and the Guardians determined that he could benefit from one more tune-up outing in the minors prior to being activated from the IL. Despite increasing his workload in his previous start for Columbus, Quantrill's results (three strikeouts, six earned runs allowed on six hits and three walks) still left something to be desired. Quantrill will be targeting 95 pitches in Saturday's outing and will hope to show sharper command before getting the green light to rejoin the Cleveland rotation. He'll tentatively line up for a Sept. 1 return from the IL and could bump either of Xzavion Curry or Noah Syndergaard from the rotation once reinstated.
