Bello (6-5) picked up the win Wednesday in a 4-2 victory over the Rangers, allowing two runs on eight hits over seven innings. He struck out three without walking a batter.

The 24-year-old right-hander tied his career high by lasting 107 pitches (70 strikes), as Bello continues to emerge as a workhorse for the injury-wracked Boston rotation. He's tossed at least six innings in six straight starts since the beginning of June, posting a 2.21 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 29:8 K:BB through 40.2 innings over that stretch. The key to his recent success has been his ability to keep the ball in the park -- Adolis Garcia's sixth-inning shot Wednesday was the first homer Bello has served up since May 23. He'll get a well-earned breather over the All-Star break.

Gray (6-5) took the loss Wednesday, giving up four runs (three earned) on nine hits and three walks over six innings as the Rangers were downed 4-2 by the Red Sox. He struck out two.

It was far from the best outing of the season for Gray, who threw 58 of 94 pitches for a strike, but he still came away with his eighth quality start. The right-hander has lost four straight decisions, however, and since tossing a complete game against the Cardinals on June 7, he's posted a 6.98 ERA, 1.81 WHIP and 12:10 K:BB in 19.1 innings. Gray will get an extended rest thanks to the All-Star break, one which he likely needs as the 31-year-old is on pace to work more than 170 innings for the first time since 2018.

Sandoval logged a no-decision against San Diego on Wednesday, allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits and four walks while striking out five batters over five innings.

The positive for Sandoval was that he allowed just a pair of singles and one earned run (though a first-inning unearned run was the result of his own error). However, the left-hander struggled with his control, throwing just 48 of 85 pitches for a strike and walking four batters. It was the sixth time over his past eight outings that he's issued multiple free passes, and he's given up four walks three times during that span. Not coincidentally, Sandoval has struggled during that stretch, posting a 5.71 ERA and a 1-5 record. Sandoval's 3.8 BB/9 on the season is on track to be his highest since his rookie campaign in 2019.

Milone (0-1) allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits and four walks without recording a strikeout in 4.1 innings to take the loss Wednesday versus the Giants.

Milone navigated a lot of traffic fairly well, but the Mariners' offense put up just seven hits in the 2-0 loss. The southpaw threw 81 pitches (49 strikes) in the start. Milone was filling in for Bryce Miller (finger) in the rotation. If Miller remains out after the All-Star break, Milone could draw another start.

The Yankees optioned Vasquez to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday.

Vasquez was promoted Wednesday for a spot start against Baltimore, and he will now head back to the minors immediately following the game. The 24-year-old righty threw five scoreless innings, surrendering three hits and three walks while recording only one strikeout. Vasquez now holds an impressive 1.17 ERA through 15.1 frames, but his 5.11 ERA in Triple-A tells a very different story on how his 2023 has been so far.

Quantrill (2-6) took the loss Wednesday, surrendering five runs on 11 hits over 4.1 innings as the Guardians fell 8-1 to Atlanta. He struck out three without walking a batter.

The right-hander was the latest victim of an Atlanta offense that seems unstoppable right now, as Quantrill got tagged for four runs in the top of the first inning. He's lost four straight starts, two on either side of a month-long absence due to shoulder inflammation, and Quantrill holds a 6.45 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 38:22 K:BB through 67 innings on the year. His spot in the Cleveland rotation is by no means secure coming out of the All-Star break.

Kremer (9-4) earned the win Wednesday, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits and a walk over seven innings against the Yankees. He struck out 10.

It was quite a bounce-back outing from Kremer after he allowed seven runs in just three innings in his last start against the Twins. The 27-year-old right-hander set a new season high with 10 strikeouts while allowing just one earned run on Josh Donaldson's solo homer in the fifth inning. Kremer lowered his ERA to 4.78 with a 1.37 WHIP and 92:25 K:BB across 18 starts (98 innings) this season in what'll likely be his last start before the All-Star break.

Rodriguez (4-5) allowed five runs on six hits across four innings to take the loss Wednesday against the Athletics. He had no walks and struck out seven.

Making his first start since May 28 due to a finger injury, Rodriguez was understandably a bit rusty as he turned in his shortest outing of the season. A pair of home runs did the most damage against the lefty, including a two-run shot by Ryan Noda in the first inning. Despite the poor result, it was a positive just to see Rodriguez out there, and the seven strikeouts are an encouraging sign. He'll carry a strong 2.64 ERA into his next start, which could come July 14 against the Mariners when Detroit returns to action after the All-Star break.

Berrios won't start Wednesday against the White Sox because the game was postponed due to rain, Vinnie Duber of AllCHGO.com reports.

The Blue Jays will play a doubleheader with the White Sox on Thursday, and Berrios figures to pitch in one of the two games. Berrios holds a 6.19 ERA and 1.38 WHIP alongside a 20:3 K:BB through 16 frames across his last three starts.

Lynn won't start Wednesday against the Blue Jays because the game was postponed due to rain, Vinnie Duber of AllCHGO.com reports.

The White Sox and Blue Jays will play a doubleheader Thursday to make up for Wednesday's game, and Lynn figures to pitch in one of the two contests. The 36-year-old righty has struggled heavily this season, accumulating a 6.72 ERA and 1.56 WHIP through 96 innings across 17 starts.
