Lynch (0-3) took the loss Wednesday, allowing seven runs on seven hits and two walks over seven innings against Cincinnati. He struck out three.

Lynch missed the first two months of the season with a strained left shoulder but was solid through his first three starts (16.1 innings), posting a 4.41 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 17:5 K:BB. However, he fell flat versus Cincinnati and gave up four home runs, recording season-worst marks in runs allowed and strikeouts. The left-hander did complete seven innings Wednesday for the first time this year and continues to be efficient in that regard (23.1 innings through four starts). Despite his struggles, Lynch figures to remain in the starting rotation until either Brad Keller (shoulder) or Ryan Yarbrough (head) is activated off the injured list.

Cole didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 4-3 extra-inning loss to the Mets, allowing one run on four hits over six innings. He struck out eight without walking a batter.

The right-hander delivered his third straight quality start and 10th of the season in 15 trips to the mound, but he left with the score tied 1-1. Cole generated 32 called or swinging strikes among his 95 pitches, but it was his control that stood out, as this was his first start of 2023 in which he didn't issue a free pass. He'll take a 2.75 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 98:29 K:BB through 91.2 innings into his next outing, likely to come next week at home against the Mariners.

Whitlock (4-2) picked up the win Wednesday, allowing two runs on six hits and a walk over seven innings in a 6-3 victory over the Rockies. He struck out seven.

The seven punchouts were a season high for the right-hander, although he's made only seven starts so far due to injuries. Whitlock dominated with 18 swinging strikes (plus 18 called strikes) among his 92 pitches, and more remarkably he missed the strike zone with only 20 of his pitches. He'll take a 4.38 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 33:7 K:BB through 39 innings into his next outing, likely to come early next week in Minnesota.

Texas manager Bruce Bochy said Wednesday that Gray (blister) will start within the next four or five days, Peter Rauterkus of the Dallas Morning News reports. "We haven't penciled in what day he's gonna pitch yet, but it's gonna be within four or five days," Bochy said during his pregame Wednesday news conference.

Gray was scratched from a start Tuesday in a move designed to prevent the right-hander from missing extended time. The Rangers don't have a day off until next Thursday, so if Gray needs more time, Bochy will have to add another starter or go with a bullpen day.

Valdez didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 5-4 win over the Nationals after allowing a run on five hits and zero walks while striking out six over seven innings.

Valdez was dominant again Wednesday but failed to earn the win after Washington tied the game with three runs in the ninth inning. Valdez has now allowed one run or fewer in four of his last five outings, lowering his ERA to 2.27 with a 1.03 WHIP and 95:20 K:BB through 14 starts (91 innings) this season. The left-hander will look to keep rolling in his next outing, tentatively scheduled for next week against the Mets.

Castillo dropped to 4-5 after allowing two runs on two hits and six walks while striking out six over 5.2 innings in Wednesday's 4-1 loss to the Marlins.

Castillo hadn't walked more than two batters in any of his starts this season, so it's safe to call this one an anomaly. Despite the lackluster control, he still turned in a decent effort, though it was also his third straight loss. All five of his losses have come in his last seven outings. Castillo still has an excellent 2.73 ERA with a 1.02 WHIP and 98:23 K:BB over 82.1 innings across 14 starts this season. He'll look to regain his command in his next start, tentatively scheduled to be on the road versus the Yankees next week.

Heaney didn't factor into the decision Wednesday, striking out five while allowing a run on five hits and four walks across 3.2 innings in a 6-3 win over the Angels.

Heaney's final line certainly could've been uglier, as he managed to hold the Angels to just one run despite needing 95 pitches to get through 3.2 innings. Heaney's been scuffling a bit of late, with a 5.40 ERA over his last three outings. Overall, the left-hander is 4-4 with a 4.05 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 70:31 K:BB through 13 starts (66.2 innings) this season. Heaney currently lines up to face the White Sox on the road in his next outing.

Civale dropped to 2-2 after allowing two runs on five hits and four walks while striking out seven across 3.2 innings in Wednesday's 5-0 loss to the Padres.

Civale gave up solo home runs to Fernando Tatis and Manny Machado. While the seven strikeouts were a season high, Civale's four walks were also his most in five starts, and he needed 95 pitches (52 strikes) to get through the short outing. The right-hander has generally been solid this season, though he's completed six innings just once. He's at a 2.67 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 22:10 K:BB over 27 innings through five starts. Civale is lined up for a favorable home start versus the Athletics next week.

Detmers didn't factor into the decision Wednesday, allowing a run on three hits and three walks over six innings in a 6-3 loss to Texas. He struck out eight.

A Leody Taveras homer in the third inning was the lone run Detmers allowed Wednesday. The 23-year-old left-hander has struck out eight in consecutive starts while allowing just one run in each outing. He's lowered his ERA from 5.15 to 4.48 with his last two performances while sporting a 1.46 WHIP and 76:26 K:BB over 62.1 innings. Detmers will look to keep rolling in his next start, currently scheduled for next week against the Dodgers.

Clevinger exited his start Wednesday against the Dodgers in the fifth inning due to right biceps soreness. He struck out five over 4.2 scoreless frames and allowed three hits and two walks prior to departing.

With two outs in the bottom of the fifth, Clevinger was visited by a trainer after he was crouching in pain and shaking his right arm after throwing a pitch. He was quickly pulled from the contest, with the White Sox confirming shortly thereafter that he had been dealing with a biceps issue. He'll be evaluated Thursday before the White Sox provide another update on his status, but Clevinger seems likely to land on the 15-day injured list. The 32-year-old lowered his ERA to 3.88 and his WHIP to 1.36 prior to his departure.
