The Guardians will activate Civale (oblique) from the 15-day injured list Friday to have him start against the Twins, Joe Noga of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Civale has been out since early April with a left oblique strain but is now ready to rejoin the rotation after building back up over the course of three rehab starts. The 27-year-old righty looked sharp in his two starts prior to suffering the oblique injury, but he posted a 4.91 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 16:4 K:BB in 11 frames across his three rehab outings.

Astros manager Dusty Baker said Tuesday that Urquidy (shoulder) is throwing from 90 feet, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Urquidy began throwing on flat ground Friday, and Tuesday was another sign of progress. Still, the 28-year-old righty will need to be built back up gradually and figures to be out for another month or so. Urquidy landed on the injured list May 1 due to right shoulder inflammation.

DeGrom (elbow) will throw another bullpen session Wednesday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

The Rangers will reportedly re-evaluate deGrom's situation once the team returns from its current road trip. At that point, a decision could be made regarding a potential rehab assignment and/or a tentative return date. The 34-year-old ace has been on the injured list since April 29 with right elbow inflammation.

Olson is the "leading candidate" to take Eduardo Rodriguez (finger) spot in the Tigers' rotation on Friday versus the White Sox, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Olson has struggled this season at Triple-A Toledo with a 6.38 ERA, but he has a 1.26 ERA and 22:6 K:BB over 14.3 frames covering his last three starts. He's also already on the 40-man roster. If Olson is indeed the choice to start Friday, the 23-year-old would be making his major-league debut.

Skubal (elbow) is expected to begin a rehab assignment as long as he bounces back from Tuesday's live batting practice session with no issues, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Skubal has reportedly been impressive in facing live hitters and is about ready to commence with a rehab assignment. He's expected to require 4-to-5 rehab starts before returning, so the left-hander probably won't be an option for the Tigers before late June. He's coming back from flexor tendon surgery.

Dunning was activated from the paternity list ahead of his start Wednesday against the Tigers.

Dunning didn't wind up missing a turn in the Rangers' rotation while welcoming a new addition to his growing family. The 28-year-old right-hander seems to have earned a permanent starting job with an overall 1.67 ERA through 43 innings (four starts, eight relief appearances) on the season for Texas.

Mize (elbow/back) has resumed a throwing program, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Mize had to be shut down for a bit due to a back issue cropping up, which was concerning since he's coming off back surgery (as well as Tommy John surgery). The right-hander has a shot to make it back late this season, but that probably won't happen if he has more setbacks.

The Red Sox placed Kluber on the paternity list Tuesday, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.

Kluber and his family just welcomed a new baby, so he'll be away from the club for up to three days. Ryan Sherriff was called up from Triple-A Worcester to take Kluber's spot in the bullpen.

Detroit placed Rodriguez on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with a left index finger pulley rupture, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Rodriguez threw 100 pitches over six innings of one-run ball against the White Sox on Sunday without any hint of a physical issue, so the news seems to come out of nowhere. He will be sidelined for at least a couple weeks and the Tigers haven't revealed who will replace him in the rotation. Rodriguez boasts a 2.13 ERA across 11 starts this season.

Clevinger (wrist) tossed a simulated game Monday in Chicago, MLB.com reports.

Per James Fegan of The Athletic, White Sox general manager Rick Hahn said that Clevinger could be activated from the 15-day injured list before the team's homestand comes to an end this weekend, and the right-hander's ability to face hitters Monday seemingly supports Hahn's claim. Clevinger will presumably throw a bullpen session Wednesday or Thursday before the White Sox determine whether he's fit to return from the jammed right wrist he suffered in his May 17 start versus Cleveland, or if he'll require another simulated game or a minor-league rehab start prior to being activated. If the White Sox decide to give Clevinger more time to heal up, Jesse Scholtens would likely be in store for another turn through the rotation this weekend versus the Tigers.
