Jake Odorizzi SP | TB
Rangers' Jake Odorizzi: Heads to 60-day IL
The Rangers placed Odorizzi (arm) on the 60-day injured list Wednesday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Initial reports suggested that Odorizzi had been dealing with normal fatigue or soreness in his right arm, but his move to the 60-day IL suggests the issue is more serious than it previously appeared. The 33-year-old was acquired from Atlanta over the winter, but it remains unclear when he might be able to debut for Texas. Grant reports that Odorizzi isn't expected to require surgery to address the arm injury.

Matthew Boyd SP | CHC
Tigers' Matthew Boyd: Lined up as No. 4 starter
Boyd will start the Tigers' fourth regular-season game next Monday at Houston, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.
Boyd was scratched from his final scheduled Grapefruit League outing this past Sunday against the Blue Jays, but it thankfully was not an injury-related decision. He'll follow Eduardo Rodriguez, Spencer Turnbull and Joey Wentz in Detroit's season-opening starting rotation. Matt Manning has the No. 5 spot.

Tyler Glasnow SP | LAD
Rays' Tyler Glasnow: Placed on 15-day IL
The Rays placed Glasnow (oblique) on the 15-day injured list Wednesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Glasnow was diagnosed in late February with a Grade 2 strain of his left oblique and is expected to miss at least the first month of the 2023 regular season. He had just resumed throwing on flat ground when spring camp came to a close.

Michael Lorenzen RP | TOR
Tigers' Michael Lorenzen: Resumes mound work
Lorenzen (groin) threw a bullpen session earlier this week and will throw another one Thursday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Lorenzen is expected to be on the injured list to begin the season with a left groin strain, but he seems to be making nice progress. The right-hander will probably need a rehab start before returning but might only wind up missing the minimum 15 days.

James Paxton SP | BOS
Red Sox's James Paxton: Ready for rehab assignment
Paxton (hamstring) is scheduled to begin a minor-league rehab assignment Monday with Triple-A Worcester or the rookie-level Florida Complex League club, Rob Bradford of WEEI.com reports.
The Red Sox would ideally have Paxton face higher-level competition at Triple-A as he builds back up from the right hamstring strain that will keep him on the injured list to begin the season, but colder weather in the Northeast could prompt the team to have him make his first rehab outing in Florida. Paxton threw two simulated innings Wednesday and was showcasing a fastball that sat around 94-to-96 miles per hour, so his arm appears to be in good condition after he didn't pitch in the majors in 2022 while recovering from Tommy John surgery and then a lat strain suffered last August in a rehab start. The veteran southpaw will likely need to build up to around five innings over the course of 2-to-3 starts in the minors before he's considered an option for the big-league rotation.

James Kaprielian SP | TOR
Athletics' James Kaprielian: First start likely vs. Cleveland
Kaprielian has clinched a spot in the Athletics' Opening Day rotation and is likely to make his first start during the team's second series of the season next week versus the Guardians in Oakland, Ben Ross of MLB.com reports.
Manager Mark Kotsay has already confirmed that Kyle Muller will get the Opening Day start Thursday versus the Angels, while Shintaro Fujinami and Ken Waldichuk have been confirmed to start the final two games of the series Saturday and Sunday, respectively. That leaves Kaprielian in line to face the Guardians either Monday or Tuesday, with the yet-to-named winner of the competition for the fifth's starter role -- either JP Sears or Adam Oller -- getting the nod for the other day. Kaprielian was brought along somewhat slowly in camp after he underwent a non-invasive procedure on the AC joint of his right shoulder back in October, but he ended up making four Cactus League starts and built up to 5.1 innings and 88 pitches in his final outing Monday. He shouldn't face any restrictions once the season gets underway.

Jon Gray SP | TEX
Rangers' Jon Gray: Throws four relief innings
Gray allowed two runs on three hits and one walk while striking out seven over four relief innings in Tuesday's spring game against the Royals.
Gray followed fellow starter Martin Perez, who worked five innings. The former threw an efficient 61 pitches, then stayed on the mound and faced Rangers hitters for about 10 minutes following the game. The right-hander will make his first regular-season start Monday at home against the Orioles.

Griffin Canning RP | SD
Angels' Griffin Canning: Dealing with groin injury
Angels manager Phil Nevin told reporters after Saturday's game that Canning is dealing with a groin injury, Sarah Valenzuela of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Nevin announced that Tucker Davidson has made the club after Saturday's exhibition game against the Dodgers, and that Canning has been dealing with something in his groin since Monday. Nevin doesn't believe the injury will require a stint on the injured list, and said that while the injury isn't alarming, the right-hander will be evaluated Wednesday. Canning still has a chance to be the sixth starter for the Angels, but because of off days that won't be necessary until the middle of April.
