McCullers allowed two runs on two hits and four walks while striking out 11 in six innings during a 5-2 win over Oakland on Thursday. He did not factor into the decision.

McCullers navigated some wildness Thursday with just 59 of his 99 pitches going for strikes, though he was able to hold Oakland to only two hits. Both runs against him came in the fourth inning when he allowed four of the first five batters to reach safely. It was the first time he exceeded seven strikeouts in a start this season and represents his most strikeouts in a game since Game 2 of the 2020 American League Championship Series.

Kaprielian allowed two runs on five hits and four walks while striking out four over six innings during a 5-2 loss Thursday in Houston. He did not factor into the decision.

Kaprielian allowed multiple baserunners in four of the six innings he pitched but managed to hold the Astros to only two runs. He had not made a start since Aug. 31 after a poor performance and a finger laceration sidelined him for the first two weeks of September. It was his first time pitching six innings in a start in his last seven outings. He's walked 15 batters in his last 19.1 innings -- spanning four starts -- while striking out 16.

Baz (elbow) will not return this season, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Baz resumed throwing in late August and, according to the report, "seems to be doing okay in recovery," but the Rays will take the cautious route and shut him down for the rest of the campaign. Barring a setback, expect Baz to be back at 100 percent well in advance of spring training in 2023.

Gaddis was recalled from Triple-A Columbus on Thursday, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.

It was announced Wednesday that Gaddis would be called up to start the following day, and the Guardians made the move official Thursday morning. Gaddis was tagged for eight earned runs over 3.1 innings in his August 5 big-league debut, but he was sharp in his last two starts with Columbus, posting a 2.31 ERA, 0.77 WHIP and 16:3 K:BB over 11.2 innings.

McClanahan (shoulder) was activated from the injured list Thursday, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports.

McClanahan missed three weeks with his shoulder injury, but he is ready to return to action and will jump right back into the rotation Thursday night against the Blue Jays. McClanahan has faced Toronto only once this season, and the opponent had few answers for him, as he allowed just one earned run while striking out 10 batters over 7.0 innings to pick up the win back on July 2.

Gray (8-4) earned the win Wednesday without allowing a run on three hits and one walk over seven innings against the Royals. He struck out eight.

Gray surrendered only one extra-base hit during his outstanding performance in the form of a double off the bat of Bobby Witt. The righty has been great in his last 10 starts, recording a 1.98 ERA over 54.2 innings. In addition, the 32-year-old has pitched six innings or more in four of his last six starts.

Bello (1-6) took the loss Wednesday after he allowed three runs (zero earned) on six hits and one walk over five innings against the Yankees. He struck out six.

Bello started off with four scoreless frames, but New York tallied three unearned runs in the fifth off three hits and two errors. The 23-year-old rookie made his big-league debut July 6, and he appears to have secured a rotation spot for the stretch run. The righty has improved over his last six outings, recording a 2.77 ERA over 26 innings.

The Rangers outrighted Arihara to Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday.

Considering Arihara is in the second season of a two-year, $6.2 million deal, it comes as no surprise that he cleared waivers after he turned in a 9.45 ERA and 2.35 WHIP across 20 innings in the big leagues prior to being designated for assignment. The 30-year-old right-hander will become a free agent this winter and may explore a return to Japan, given his lack of success in North America the past two years.

Greinke (4-9) took the loss Wednesday, allowing three runs on five hits and three walks over four innings in a 4-0 loss against the Twins. He struck out one.

Greinke surrendered a two-run double to Gary Sanchez in the first inning to cap a three-run frame for the Twins, but the righty allowed only one baserunner over the next three frames. The veteran has been solid in his last five starts, turning in a 2.39 ERA over 26.1 innings. The 38-year-old has staggering home/road splits, posting a 1.93 ERA and a 4-2 record during 11 starts in Kansas City compared to a 6.36 ERA and 0-7 record in 12 starts on the road.

Dunning allowed four runs on six hits and three walks while striking out five batters over 4.2 innings in a no-decision against Oakland on Wednesday.

Dunning was fine through four frames, yielding only one run on a second-inning homer. Things fell apart for him in the fifth, however, as he allowed four consecutive batters to reach base after notching two outs. The final three hitters he faced each recorded an extra-base hit, and Dunning ended up surrendering three runs in the frame. It was another disappointing outcome for the right-hander -- he has posted a 7.53 ERA, 2.02 WHIP and poor 12:8 K:BB over 14.1 innings through three starts in September.
