Garcia (12-8) earned the win Sunday, allowing three runs on eight hits and no walks over five innings against the Angels. He struck out four.

Despite making a couple of mistakes with home runs off the bats of Andrew Velazquez and Shohei Ohtani, Garcia earned the win as the Astros scored 12 runs on the day. The win was his 12th of the season and fourth in his last five starts. Despite the recent wins, Garcia has not been at his best in the second half, as he owns a 4.87 ERA in 46.2 innings since the All-Star break after delivering a 3.65 ERA in the first half.

German issued one walk and struck one batter in a scoreless inning against the Rays on Sunday.

German was starting on short rest and threw just 14 pitches while the Yankees ended up using eight pitchers in the blowout win. He lowered his season ERA to 3.21 with a 39:13 K:BB through 56 frames. German's next outing will likely be in Milwaukee next weekend.

Bieber (10-8) earned the win Sunday, allowing one run on five hits and one walk over 6.1 innings against the Twins. He struck out seven.

The Cleveland ace extended his quality-start streak to nine games en route to his 10th victory on the season. While he has only 10 wins, Sunday was his 21st quality start, indicating that he has been a victim of poor run support this year. He will take a 2.91 ERA into his next start, which is slated to come at home versus the Twins.

Verlander (calf) is hoping to return to from the 15-day injured list to make a start during next weekend's series with the Athletics, Danielle Lerner of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Verlander won't be activated Tuesday when first eligible, but he threw his second bullpen session Sunday since landing on the injured list and felt fine afterward. He could throw again Tuesday or Wednesday -- either against hitters or in another bullpen session -- as one final test of his health before the Astros sign off on his return from the IL. If Verlander is in fact activated at some point next weekend, he could face a limited pitch count in his return to the rotation.

Arihara was designated for assignment Sunday.

Arihara was tagged for 18 earned runs over his last three outings -- including 11 in his last start Saturday -- so the Rangers decided to remove him from both the active and 40-man rosters. It remains to be seen what is next for Arihara, who has struggled to get big-league hitters out since signing with the Rangers in December of 2020.

Gray (oblique) will be activated from the 15-day injured list to start the second game of Monday's doubleheader against the Marlins, Levi Weaver of The Athletic reports.

Gray's oblique injury has sidelined him since the first day of August, but he looks like he's ready to get back on the bump. The right-hander didn't head out on a rehab assignment, so it's unclear what type of workload he will be able to handle in his first game back.

Lyles (10-10) took the loss against Boston on Saturday, allowing eight runs on seven hits while striking out one and walking one over 3.2 innings.

Lyles failed to make it out of the fourth inning Saturday, giving up eight earned runs across 3.2 frames. He tossed 47 of 77 pitches for strikes in the outing, tallying just one strikeout. This poor outing comes on the heels of back-to-back quality starts for the veteran righty. Eight runs allowed marks a high for Lyles this season, with his previous high being six runs allowed (which he has done three times this season). Lyles will take a 4.62 ERA into his next appearance.

Wacha (11-1) earned the win against Baltimore on Saturday, allowing three runs on six hits while striking out five and walking none over six innings.

Wacha tossed 60 of 82 pitches for strikes across six frames Saturday. Cedric Mullins accounted for two of the runs against Wacha on a solo shot in the third inning and an RBI single in the fifth. The other earned run came on a Jorge Mateo sac fly. Wacha has been impressive in his last six games, picking up five quality starts and four wins without losing a contest. During that span he has a 2.73 ERA across 36.2 innings. His season ERA now sits at 2.69.

Manning (2-2) earned the win against the Royals on Saturday, allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits while striking out four and walking one over 6.1 innings.

Manning tossed 60 of 94 pitches for strikes across 6.1 frames. He allowed two earned runs, one on a single in the first inning and another on a groundout in the fourth. He was not credited with a third earned run after an error during a fielder's choice allowed Michael Taylor to score. Manning has pitched relatively well in his last five games, aside from a seven-run clunker against Seattle. He has picked up three quality starts during that span. He will take a 3.73 ERA into his next outing.

Lynn (6-5) earned the win against Oakland on Saturday, allowing two runs (none earned) on three hits while striking out five and walking one over six innings.

Lynn was impressive Saturday, tossing 72 of 107 pitches for strikes across six frames. Though two runs crossed the plate for the Athletics, both followed an error and were unearned. Saturday's outing marks four quality starts in a row for the veteran righty and six in his last eight starts. During that span, he has picked up five wins to just one loss and lowered his ERA from 5.87 to where it sits now at 4.07.
