Detmers (5-5) allowed four runs on seven hits and two walks with six strikeouts over 4.1 innings, taking the loss Friday versus the Astros.

Detmers allowed the Astros to score twice in the third inning, and he put three runners aboard in the fifth, with Jose Marte allowing two of them to score. Over his last four starts, Detmers has alternated between good and bad performances. He's given up 10 runs, 26 hits and 10 walks in 19 innings in that span. He's at a 3.67 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 105:41 K:BB through 108 innings across 21 starts this year. The southpaw is projected for a rematch with the Astros in Houston next weekend.

Martin allowed three hits, one walk and a hit batter while striking out two over five scoreless innings, but he did not factor in the decision Friday versus the Twins.

Martin pitched well after a rough opening inning from Joe Kelly. This was the second time in 10 appearances (five starts) that Martin has kept runs off the board. The right-hander now has a 4.09 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 30:15 K:BB through 44 innings while adding a 2-4 record. It's unclear how he'll be utilized in his next appearance, especially if Michael Kopech (knee) is ready to return when first eligible Sept. 7. If Martin stays on a typical starter's schedule, he'd line up for an appearance in Seattle next week, though it's no guarantee he'll remain in the majors that long.

Keuchel (2-9) allowed seven runs on seven hits and three walks over 4.2 innings Friday, striking out six and taking a loss against Boston.

Keuchel gave up just one run through three innings before the Red Sox tacked on three in the fourth and three more in the fifth. The veteran southpaw has been tagged with 14 runs through 10 innings since joining the Rangers, and his season ERA has jumped to 9.20 through 14 starts. He's projected to start in Houston next week, though it's unclear if he'll get another turn in the rotation.

Lynch yielded four runs on five hits and three walks over five innings against the Tigers on Friday. He struck out four and did not factor in the decision.

Lynch cruised through four shutout innings before the Tigers piled on seven runs in the fifth, highlighted by Javier Baez and Willi Castro homers. The Royals lost the game, but the 25-year-old southpaw avoided taking a third loss in his last four starts. Lynch has allowed at least three runs in five of his last six outings and his season ERA has risen to 4.82 in the process. He's lined up for a home matchup with the Guardians next week.

Castillo (6-5) allowed five hits and a walk over six scoreless frames Friday, striking out four and earning a win over Cleveland.

Castillo only allowed one Guardian to get into scoring position during the dominant outing. He's now 2-1 with a 2.39 ERA and a 43:9 K:BB through six starts since joining the Mariners. On the year, the 29-year-old is sporting a 2.71 ERA across 122.2 frames. Castillo is projected to face the White Sox at home next week.

Gray was removed from Friday's start against the White Sox due to right hamstring tightness, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Gray appeared to grab his hamstring in the bottom of the third inning Friday and came back out for the fourth, but he struggled prior to exiting the game. Prior to his departure, he allowed two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out two in four innings. It's not yet clear whether he'll be forced to miss additional time, but he tentatively lines up to make his next start on the road against the Yankees on Wednesday if he's deemed healthy enough to make his next turn through the rotation.

Eovaldi (shoulder) threw a bullpen session Friday, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Manager Alex Cora said Thursday that Eovaldi wasn't progressing as quickly as hoped, but it was encouraging that the right-hander was able to throw off a mound a day later. He's expected to throw another bullpen session Monday, so it seems possible that he'll be able to return prior to the end of the regular season.

Glasnow (elbow) is slated to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Durham on Wednesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Glasnow will throw a bullpen session sometime before joining Durham. Once he begins the assignment, the Rays will build him up slowly and have already determined he will throw just one inning in his first rehab game. The right-hander has not yet been ruled out for a late-season return in a relief role.

Houck is expected to undergo back surgery, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Houck was shut down Thursday due to continued back soreness, with reports emerging that he might not return this season. If he does indeed undergo surgery, that should rule him out for the remainder of this season and could lead to questions about his durability and effectiveness heading into 2023. He recorded a 3.15 ERA in 60 innings this season, working mostly out of the bullpen. His eight saves still lead the Red Sox, but Garrett Whitlock (six), John Schreiber (five) and/or Matt Barnes (four) could pass him down the stretch.

Taillon (forearm) will throw a bullpen session Saturday and is still expected to pitch in his next scheduled start, Meredith Marakovits of YES Network reports.

Taillon was diagnosed with a right forearm contusion after being hit by a line drive during Tuesday's win over the Angels. The injury never seemed to be considered serious, and the fact that he could avoid missing a start is a good sign for a Yankees pitching staff that has been plagued with injuries all year.
