Lyles (10-9) earned the win after he pitched 6.2 innings, giving up four hits and three walks while striking out two versus the Guardians on Wednesday.

Lyles was electric Wednesday, blanking the Guardians for 6.2 frames while allowing his lowest hit total since July 28. The right-hander has now produced back-to-back quality starts after a rough stretch in the middle of August, allowing one run over 13.2 frames in his last two outings. Lyles now owns a 4.25 ERA and 1.44 WHIP with 123 punchouts over 152.1 innings in 27 starts this year.

Lorenzen (shoulder) will continue his rehab assignment Friday with Single-A Inland Empire, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.

Lorenzen surrendered six runs over 3.2 innings during his second rehab outing with Triple-A Salt Lake last weekend, and he'll require at least one more start in the minors before potentially rejoining the Angels. The 30-year-old has been sidelined by the shoulder strain since July 1 and has a 4.94 ERA this season in his first extended run as a starter since his rookie campaign in 2015.

Manager Kevin Cash said McClanahan underwent an MRI on Wednesday which confirmed the diagnosis of a shoulder impingement, and the left-hander is scheduled to receive a cortisone injection, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Cash added it's possible the 25-year-old will spend only the 15-day minimum on the injured list, but the return timeline will depend how the shoulder responds to the injection. Regardless, McClanahan will be unavailable until at least mid-September, which is major blow to both the Rays and fantasy managers.

The White Sox reinstated Lynn (personal) from the bereavement list ahead of his scheduled start Wednesday against the Royals.

As expected, Lynn will rejoin the White Sox and slot back into the rotation right away after he was away from the team for four days to tend to a personal matter. Though Lynn struggled mightily in his initial outings following an injury-delayed start to the season, he's arguably been on par with ace Dylan Cease from a performance standpoint since the All-Star break. Over his seven second-half outings spanning 41.1 innings, Lynn has produced a 2.83 ERA and 0.90 WHIP while striking out 29.4 percent of the batters he's faced.

McClanahan (shoulder) was placed on the 15-day injured list Wednesday, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports.

McClanahan was scratched from Tuesday's scheduled start against the Marlins due to a left shoulder impingement and will undergo an MRI on Wednesday. While the results of his exams aren't yet known, the southpaw will be unavailable for at least two weeks. Manager Kevin Cash is optimistic that McClanahan won't miss extended time, but a better idea for his return timetable will likely come into focus once the team's medical staff pinpoints his diagnosis.

Hoglund hasn't pitched since Aug. 6 due to a biceps issue, Bill Moriarty of A's Farm reports.

After making his return from Tommy John surgery, Hoglund managed to make all of three appearances totaling eight scoreless innings before being shut down. The A's are hoping he'll be able to pitch in fall instructs next month, but that doesn't seem to be a certainty. Hoglund has tremendous upside, but his ongoing arm issues mean he comes with far more risk than your average college arm.

Reliever Shawn Armstrong ended up making a three-inning spot start in the Rays' eventual 7-2 win after McClanahan experienced shoulder discomfort while warming up prior to the contest. Though manager Kevin Cash said he's "optimistic" that McClanahan won't miss extended time after receiving the initial diagnosis of an impingement, the MRI will reveal whether or not a more serious injury is in play. Even if the impingement is confirmed, Topkin posits that McClanahan will likely require a cortisone shot for his shoulder and could need two weeks to make a full recovery before slotting back into the rotation. With that in mind, expect McClanahan to land on the 15-day injured list within the next day or two.

Keuchel is scheduled to start Thursday's series opener in Boston, Levi Weaver of The Athletic reports.

Keuchel's status as a two-time All-Star and former Cy Young Award winner may be the primary reason the 34-year-old southpaw is still receiving MLB starts at this stage of his career, as he's shown little over the past two years to suggests he's worthy of a spot in a big-league rotation. Between stops with the White Sox, Diamondbacks and Rangers this season, Keuchel has produced an 8.84 ERA and 2.05 WHIP across 13 starts spanning 56 innings. An ugly showing against the Red Sox might be enough for the Rangers to pull the plug on Keuchel and turn to another pitcher to eat innings at the back end of the rotation.

The Rangers announced Wednesday that Arihara has been moved to the bullpen, Levi Weaver of The Athletic reports.

Arihara had tentatively lined up to start Saturday in Boston, but the Rangers are instead expected to promote a pitcher from the minors to enter the rotation that day. The 30-year-old right-hander's move to the bullpen comes after he submitted a 5.40 ERA, 1.67 WHIP and 12:5 K:BB in 15 innings across three starts.

Giolito (8-10) gave up five earned runs on six hits and two walks while striking out seven over 5.1 innings to take the loss in a 9-7 defeat against the Royals on Tuesday.

The long ball was Giolito's downfall in yet another frustrating performance for the struggling starter, who was chased after giving up three home runs on 89 pitches. Despite tallying four wins in August, Giolito has an ERA of 5.68 this month. His 142 strikeouts in 128 innings so far in 2022 are solid, but not enough to make up for his inflated ratios. Giolito does have an xFIP of 3.65, so there is some hope the veteran's numbers could normalize down the stretch. He is tentatively expected to make his next start against the Twins on Sunday.
